What's bugging you? (2009)

My dentist told me that composite fillings suck in several ways. Among other things, the seal isn't as secure as silver, and the probability of getting a cavity under the filling itself is greater.

He went on to say that some people want to replace all their silver fillings with composite because they match the color of teeth. He only recommends composite in places that really show, like on front teeth.

The only downside I see to silver at this point is that when one of those fillings wants to wear out and break, a chunk of the tooth tends to go along with it, and it's time for a crown.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

My TV here in my room is from 1989, its still quite a good TV, for the most part, besides the fact it sounds like a wire or a capacitor is loose in back. It makes these weird electrical sounds when it's on. Its quite distracting and loud. If someone knows anything about TVs and could explain what I can do to fix the thing, please let me know.

I just realized that Braden Looper is scheduled to pitch on Wednesday--and of course I am going to the game. If my calculations are correct, that will be my 8th Brewers game of the season and the 5th one started by Looper.
If you need a silver lining, by taking one for the team on Wednesday, you guys are saving the hawing party from seeing Loop on either Friday or Sunday next weekend. We've seen possibly more than our share of Braden, too. Of course, we're not out of the woods for getting Suppan, of whom we've also seen way too much, dating back to 2007 when I think we managed to pick nine of his second-half home starts.

You're both just jealous that I get to see Bud Norris for the 2nd time in 6 days.

Mercury Marine, an employer of roughly 1,800 currently and as much as 3,000 in there heyday are packing up and leaving FDL for the sweet pastures of Oklahoma with the move complete within the next 24-36 months.

So a town of 40,000 just lost 1,800 jobs directly and it is anticipated that as many as 5,000 jobs will be lost due to many suppliers etc that have been dependent on Mercury Marine.

So yeah, it seems like FDL is pretty much screwed. Not one of the towns better days. The loss of Mercury Marine might even put the future of Walleye Weekend in doubt. Walleye Weekend might be what FDL is best known for but now it has lost its biggest sponsor.

It really is a terrible situation, the economy is so terrible that Merc couldn't just sit around and do nothing, their complex is way to big and inefficent just because they don't need to produce as much as they have in the past. Mercury Marine hasn't been lambasted to much for the decision, everyone realizes that the economy is down a lot and that Merc probably had to do something to reorganize into a more compact and efficient company. The community is really letting the union have it. It probably isn't the union members fault though, their leadership came across as incredibly arrogant in the media and as a result the community really turned against them as a whole.

It was just a bad bad situation but not all that unexpected. It sure will be odd to see the company's huge complex just sit there, I would guess it will become a huge eyesore. It is just to big for anyone to purchase, the whole thing will probably have to be bulldozed

At least they're replacing them out of vanity and not pseudoscience. A parent of an autistic former client of mine wanted to have his amalgam fillings yanked because they "caused his autism".

I have this irrational hate for Jerry Garcia and his grill tips (Not Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead).

I'm not sure what bothers me more: Him, or the fact that he annoys me so.

Haha, do you also have the "rivals" 9-game pack? I feel like I've seen Looper in every single game I've attended.

It's not just you, that guy walks around like he owns the world. I have a lot of better ways to describe but will not waste a strike on such a waste of space with a soul patch. I know him on a business level as he took over at the Hotel Metro a few months ago, one of the biggest downfalls for restaurants downtown and I work for a food service company. Needless to say that he actually believes that you can get better produce and meet at the Pig than companies that actually provide for the industry.

I would suggest if you ever meet him personally to kick him in the shin and walk in the other direction without starting a conversation. But thanks for teaching me how to cook a hamburger with blue cheese on it. Otherwise I would be lost.

I am bugged by student hourly job applicants who start off saying, "I'd love to come for an interview! I'm free anytime over the next few days!" - then when I suggest a time and date, they say, "oh, except then." Come on, don't say 'anytime' unless you mean it.

Automatic systems that call you and then tell you to "please hold"....
I got one better. We get automated calls for people who apparently had our numbers before....they say "This call is for (some garbled, typically Mexican name)....if you are not (said person), please hang up. REALLY?

When someone is driving slowly in the left lane of a 2+ lane highway, you switch lanes to pass them on the right, and they speed up so you can't pass them at the speed you were going at. Boo.
That is dumb. I think that there would be much less traffic issues if people actually followed the traffic rules. Drive in the right hand lane, PASS IN THE LEFT!

it's annoying that we still have to wait through those automated messages on peoples' phones of how to go about leaving a voicemail.

and my car is busted again. since i've had it, i've had to drop $0.10 in repairs for every mile I've driven.

Dislocating my knee cap in a really gross way right before school starts. (I'm a teacher) It's interesting to try and use crutches however.

Yikes ... I dislocated my knee in high school during a summer workout. I pushed very hard to have my knee healthy for my senior track season and ended up dislocating it again in December (and two more times after that). Please, please, please go easy on your knee. Mine will never be the same.

I had the same problem about 2 years ago. Took it to the dealership, told them the problem and how I believed it was the alternator. They did diagnostics, etc. and determined it was just a bad battery. So they put a new one in.

Guess what? Three weeks later, the new battery was dead. After spending $250 to have them tell me I was wrong about the alternator, I decided it wasn't worth going in again to tell them they were wrong. So, we just jump start the car whenever we need to use it and have jumper cables in the vehicle at all times. (this is our 2nd car, not the main one, by the way.)
