What's bugging you? (2009)

The annoying thing to me is that the newer painted bumpers can't take much of anything at all. It takes very little to scuff them.

An older bumper probably would have given her a free pass and saved you some bother.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

This is more meant for Fmylife.com (for those of you who aren't familiar with it, it's a website where people can post their stories of bad things that are happening or have happened recently in their life), but I guess I'm looking for as much support as I can get right now...

On my way to work this afternoon, I noticed my radio had been stolen from my car and the entire center dashboard of my car (at least the part where the air conditioning, heat, etc. is) was ripped apart. I called my insurance company, and I only have liability on the car. I'm 16, I live with just my mother, and we're both struggling just to pay the bills we have. FML

I have no idea, Invader. My brother-in-law told me that my unit wasn't worth much more than about 70-75 bucks. My guess is that thieves try selling them for twice that amount. All I know is I'm really upset right now, considering I've got no help from my insurance company or the police department. Nobody really seems to care...

I've got a brother-in-law and an uncle who could fix it, but my brother-in-law is currently unemployed, along with my sister, and my uncle (who runs his own shop) is always busy. I'm just at a huge loss, right now.

Sorry for your loss, but to honest, there are more pressing and important issues for insurance companies and the police to deal with then a stolen stereo. Not trying to be condescending at all, just the that its the reality of the situation.

The issue is that his insurance doesn't cover it, not that the insurance company doesn't think its important. But for the price of that type of coverage, he probably could have bought 5 new car stereos.

Car insurance bugs me. What a scam.

All insurance is a scam. My homeowners' policy wouldn't cover a broken sewer line even after I had paid for additional plumbing coverage. I thought I was pretty smart for buying that coverage when the pipe broke (likely because of shifting soil/foundation), then the ugly truth hit me. The claims adjuster denied me, citing my policy "covers repair and replacement of plumbing components following an event that causes sudden and accidental discharge". Sounds like what I have, right? Apparently not. The claims adjuster says that's not what it covers. Well, it's right there in the language of the policy. I asked him for an example of what it WOULD cover, then. He couldn't answer me. I said "just give me a hypothetical scenario in which this policy would pay for plumbing repair". He wouldn't. I am switching carriers when my policy is up for renewal in 3 weeks. I guess that's why people call it "fire insurance" because that's all it has a greater than 5% chance of paying out on.

Largely because of tax laws, insurance is pretty close to a scam.

Insurance rates are based on the likelihood of event X. For example, if you own a $3M house in Florida that is susceptible to hurricanes (say a 1 in 10 chance each year of $100,000 in damages), you are going to pay $10,000 a year for hurricane insurance. So whether you have insurance at $10,000 a year or pay the $100,000 once every 10 years - you end up paying the same amount.

The purpose of insurance isn't to pay you - it is only to provide some consistancy. (Much easier to plan many small payments than be hit with one very large payment)

The scam part comes from the various tax laws. In the above scenario, the homeowner has to pay $100,000 over 10 years to insure his house against hurricanes. If the taxpayer has no insurance, he will have to pay for all $100,000 in repairs himself. But that is a casualty loss that is tax deductible! So after the tax deduction, it really only costs him around $60,000.

Most multimillion dollar homes in hurricane alley do not have insurance. They are essentially self-insured by the various rich owners.

Each participant will receive a pledge card signed by Cameron in which the participant pledges to remain active, make healthy decisions and avoid performance-enhancing drugs.
Really, Mike Cameron is participating in a healthy lifestyle program encouraging children to avoid performance-enhancing drugs?

This is the same Mike Cameron that was suspended 25 games last year for a positive test.

Car insurance bugs me. What a scam.

Exactly. I would've had to pay a $500 deductible, which could've bought me either 5-7 stereos (depending on what exactly its value was) or 1 stereo and probably would've paid for the damage done to the car. Seeing as I don't really need 5-7 car stereos, I would've probably just went and bought myself a new stereo and paid to fix my car. Too bad I don't have $500...

I don't know if I'd go that far...they really could just change the tax law. Also, who usually has all the money laying around to fix those things on their own? If you make enough money to have the cash for a $100k repair...you'll pay enough in taxes.

I'm getting tired of all the variations of the Brewers uniforms. Home, Away, Alternate, Retro, Turn Back the Clock, Stars & Stripes. . .enough.

Give me a home, and a road, and be done with it.

No hate for Turn Ahead the Clock?

That too.

Actually I was unaware of that one. But I believe the next step will be outfitting the team in footie pajamas and calling it "Christmas Morning When You Were Eight" Night.

I was browsing Wisconsin engineering jobs on careerbuilder.com. Of the 50 pages, approximately 30 were of the exact same "global engineering and marketing" post. Word for word, over and over again. Like it's not hard enough finding jobs, but now I can't even easily browse what few jobs make it onto careerbuilder cause someone is abusing their posting ability? Only thing that made me feel better was to report the posts, maybe careerbuilder will step up their game.

Stupid orange coolers on the top step of the dugout. For cripes sake someone even built a little shelf for that garbage. We can't just have a dugout with players and coaches? Nope, gotta get some product placement in there too. Can't wait for every post game interview to start with the player taking a long draw off a gatoraide. "Ahhh! That's good and it refreshes!" Then making sure to hold it up in the shot label out ala nascar.

I'm all for every ad dollar possible but jeez.

2 texts, sure, that's fine.... but 37 in a 24 hour period when you know I'm gone and unable to respond. Sweetheart, you're crazy.
