I believe I've cracked the code. 3 decimals. Add up to 10. Written two ways.

Or else I suppose you could use Times New Roman and Helvetica.

Smarmy? Yes.

Where were you last night Jim? I definitely would have encouraged my son to put that down as an answer. Although, my son may have gotten in a little trouble for being a smart a.....ah....donkey.

For the record, wasn't calling you "stupid". What you stated could very well be what they are looking for, but that's not at all how the question is worded.

I understand. It WAS pretty foolish for me to put three decimals that add up to 11 and not 10, though...

A couple weeks ago I wanted to buy a season of a tv show I missed. I looked on Amazon, it was $20, I checked EBay and there was nothing priced under $30 and people were still bidding. Needless to say I bought a new copy from Amazon and saved money vs. EBay's prices. Today, I was looking for a somewhat obscure book, checked Amazon, it was in stock and $34.95, checked Ebay, and sure encough a number of BuyItNow's at $41 and some over $50.

I've run across this numerous times with things like DVD's and books, are people just stupid or lazy they they can't figure out when a brand new item is cheaper on Amazon including shipping versus buying or bidding up the item on Ebay and dealing with whomever has the listing? I mean seriously it took all of a minute to compare the prices so its not like the search costs are excessive to find a better deal.

I know it doesn't harm me in any way but it just boggles my mind.

Lightning hit our apartment building over the weekend, and fried the internet infrastructure. I've been without internet at home since then, and the company who is in charge of the system won't be able to fix it until I can be home during the day, which is hard. I gave them permission to enter my apartment while I'm gone, but I'll guarantee they won't come in. It also fried the elevator, which is still not fixed (not as big of a deal), and the garage door. I still don't know how my computer survived the strike.

The only reason why it's really bugging me is because of the amount of stuff that is all online right now. I have to pay bills and do online banking, and I hate doing that type of stuff at work.

Mothership, still hateful?

I wish the NY game was on after watching Parra.

"His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down $2000 to live like him for a week. Sleep, do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have sex without dating... THAT'S a fantasy camp."

I was at today's game and was really taken aback by the amount of fan profanity that just seemed to be part of the atmosphere. There were some Chisox fans who were part of it, but it was largely Brewers fans entering the stadium and walking around the concourses, in the men's room, etc.

Lots of f-bombs dropped, and one guy made no qualms about using the n-word loudly to his buddy in a large mass of people.

I was paying particular attention as I was contemplating bringing my young daughter to a future game. But now I'm not so sure.

Pretty disheartening. I don't expect an opera crowd, but with several kids around for a day game, it would be nice if people would hold back a little.

Jim, I was swore at several times by a gent yesterday as I stood in an apartment lobby waiting to be buzzed in. Let's be honest, if you are so undisciplined you have to curse on a daily basis, you lack most of the simple qualities to live a normal life.

I went to Wed/Thurs games myself, and almost every idiot who knew nothing about baseball were the ones swearing, often several times in a sentence. It was oodles worse in the parking lot both before and after.

Now I don't enjoy listening to the idiots who have to announce their profanity to the masses, but I think that's a blanket statement and a stretch.

There has to be an official term for word combos like "sworn at by a gent." It's not really an oxymoron. Oxymoronic phrase? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Besides ethnic slurs, why are certain words offensive? How is the 's' word more offensive than 'feces' or the 'f' word worse than 'sexual intercourse' or 'fudge' or 'gee whiz'? They're just words right? What if we all just starting using these words as acceptable vocabulary? Wouldn't that render them useless as curse words?

i definitely don't think cuss words are "just words." i'll use them sparingly, but i don't like that some people can't figure out there there's a context in which to use them.

it's sad that baseball of all sports now has special sections of the park to bring your kids to for a better chance of not exposing them to cussing and drunk people.

You just don't get it! They're naughty words!

But I agree with you. The concept of offensive words reminds me of Jerry Seinfeld's joke about giving the finger. There are definitely wrong times to use them, but that really depends on who you're around, and whether or not they would be offended by it. If you're unsure, don't say it.

A friend of mine's fiance drops the F-bomb about twice per sentence. I'm certainly not going to say I don't use an F-bomb a few times a day (at least), but when a person feels compelled to use it in speech most of the time, and as a verb, adverb, pronoun, adjective, etc, etc, etc, I just get turned off by their conversation. I'm not offended by it, so to speak, but at the same time, why is it necessary? Once in a while to emphasize a point is one thing, but people who continually drop F-bombs and whatnot liberally every or every other sentence just rub me wrong.

And to add something to the thread, I'm really bugged lately by people who say "we need to do (X)".

My wife says "we need to get that new sink and faucet put in".

At work they send out an e-mail that says "We need to get rolling on this project and see it through to completion by next wednesday"

And then the kicker "We need to get this lawn mowed". What, are we both going to walk around pushing the mower? That would be difficult, to say the least.

Isn't that code for "this needs to be done and I want you to do it"?

I'll admit, I've said the same kind of thing to the S.O. I'm trying to ask more directly lately, though.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I've had shoulder pain for a while now which has seemed to spread down to my lower back for some reason. Getting up in the morning and feeling like you have to force yourself to move is not fun. I'm seeing a therapist for the shoulder, which seems to be helping, but the back pain doesn't seem to get better with it. I have no idea what the issue is, since I haven't been doing any heavy lifting or anything like that. It seems like I'm living on ibuprofren. Haven't done any serious workouts either for almost three months, so that's not a cause. It sucks.
