What's bugging you? (2010)

"And That". not sure if your a comic book fan or what, but i love your avatar dude. The whole Patrick Stewart as Spider thing is awesome. Wish they would have made a movie about that book. With him being a huge "Transmetropolitan" fan, i'm sure he would have done it. Anyway, was wondering where you found that pic?

I'm a teacher in Madison, and they are facing some pretty nasty budget issues. There are 4 different plans out there to help fix it. There is only one plan that eliminates teachers, and that is the "worst case scenario." Well, principals are ordered to prepare for the "worst case scenario", so 14 of us at my school got notices that we won't be teaching there next year. However, the only reason why we would lose our jobs is if the school board elects to go with the plan that has the most cuts (which pretty much everyone says is highly unlikely). Well, I'm still getting nervous, even though most say I will still have a job next year. The unknown is what is bugging me. I would love a yes or a no so I can move on if I have to.

I can feel your pain. We are also having budget issues (like most schools). We really need to start funding our schools properly and stop making cut after cut.

Red Baron's frozen pizza. No wonder that crap was on sale.

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

Hawing, you will like this....

Two days in a row, I have seen the new MLB commercials where they talk about Pujols and how you and your children can "witness history" when you watch him play. They compare him to the all-time greats......

What happens when he gets named next on somebody's list? I mean, really? We all see it coming sooner or later. They probably should have A-rod commercials and possibly then start making Barry Bonds commercials.....

Stupid baseball. I love Prince...... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

So I've been a retail store manager for a pretty big mall based clothing company for the last 2 years, I recently got engaged in Feb and my fiance and I have been talking about moving back closer to our parents in the Marshfield/Stevens Point area. I've applied for a few jobs, and posted my resume online to kind of test the waters for finding a job in that area. Somehow someone at my company found out that I've been looking for jobs, so I was confronted by my district and regional managers today about my "committment" to my current store and company. I was told there were 2 documents on my desk to fill out--one was a resignation letter, the other was documentation to start the termination process--it was up to me which one I wanted to sign. I chose the resignation letter, just to leave on my own terms and now I have until this Saturday to let my staff all know that I'm leaving and why cause I was informed that my last day would be the 3rd.

I can't really tell if I'm extremely upset about the whole ordeal or just happy to be leaving a company that I didn't plan on working for that much longer. All I know is that I now have a lot more free time to look for something new in the central WI area I guess. I don't know if I can actually file for unemployment since I technically resigned, or what the deal really is with all that either.

Everything I've ever known, I've learned from Brewerfan.net....Seriously though

I would assume you can fight for unemployment, but it would have been far easier to have them term you.

Retail is a game, every DM I worked for at my last company was fired (that's 7 in 7 years), and I worked for many very good people who were pushed out for little to no reason. Politics play a huge role, and often times, it's just who they like.

They have people searching Monster and the like to recruit, so I would have asked what's wrong with seeing what was out there, especially since you may be moving. It probably would have ended the same, but those HR people are clueless, and an answer would have probably been pricelessly ignorant.

I didn't realize you could be fired for putting a resume on the internet. I worked in retail as a manager and told my DM straight-up that I was going back to school to add an accounting degree. I obviously wasn't going to stick around after I graduated. So theoretically he could have canned me? Not cool, dude.

Technically it wasn't because I posted my resume online or was looking for jobs it was because my commitment to the success of my current store was drawn into question. Basically they wanted me gone (which is the same thing I wanted, just in a different time frame), so they were going to find some way to push me out the door. Like dadofandrew said, retail is a lot of politics and basically a large company can get rid of almost anyone at anytime if they try hard enough. That's why most policies are phrased as "violations will result in action up to and including termination" It's a legal way to cover their butts when they want to get rid of someone.

The guy in the McDonald's commercial who hasn't had his coffee yet.

And the guy on the ski lift with the Chase card checking his points.

I got another one that's bugging me, gyp. The new State Farm commercials that have dominated my tv the past month or so. Who is this guy, and why should I find it endearing that he's long winded and constantly talks over people? Seriously, that's like 2 of the biggest turnoffs I find in people.

Here's another outrage. . .

I guess they're just searching for the pricing model that gives them the best chance to make money. Like an amusement park that has free admission and charges per ride vs. one that has a high admission with free rides.

Still, it's getting really ridiculous.
