What's bugging you? (2011)

Agreed, bullox. I'm a bit annoyed that they used the Blue Jays font circa 1993 for our division champions shirts. It's like twisting the knife.

Find a way to get a dark room. Like, pitch black. Even if it is done by building a fort with blankets over your bed. It will help you sleep in the mornings/daytime immensely.

Think about either a white noise machine, or a fan, or something of that ilk if noise is waking you up.

Lay off the caffeine, cut way back, and don't have any within 3 hours of when you are trying to sleep.

i can attest to the good advice of a dark room. it isn't a blackout curtain, but somewhat recently i bought a black bedsheet and have been using that, and my daytime sleep has improved quit a bit.

still debating about taking all night shift. it's recently "cooled down" to 96 during the day, but that's still pretty rough. but that's kind of also admitting that i can't hack the rotating shifts, which isn't a great thing to say to a boss and coworkers when you're only six months into the job. up and quitting in six months to take a low-paying, unrelated job in a better city is a little scary, too.

just found out my best friend at work (and with his wife, the only two people i have to hang out with after work) will probably get a transfer to a different city, so that sucks.

though to balance out my whining, i have a good boss. i disagree with the status quo, but the way he manages it is excellent.

I recall there was some talk about pit bulls on here a while ago. Well, I got off the phone with one of my employees earlier today, and it reminded me about this right away. While she was working her shift yesterday, her mom let her dog out and was taking it for a walk. Out of nowhere, a pit bull ran up and attacked her dog (which is just a 15 pound miniature pinscher), basically mauling it. Her mom was also bit in the attack. They were able to save the dog's life after emergency surgery, which cost over $1000.00. One of this poor dog's legs was almost torn off, and while they did reattach it, they are unsure if he'll be able to keep it or not. There was no sign of the pit bull's owner, and it ran off without getting caught. FWIW, this happened in Oconomowoc.

Very disgusted to hear all about it. I hope they find the pit bull and put an end to it, and make the owner pay for their irresponsibility.

Pit bulls are a sad consequence of generations of inbreeding and selective breeding. Many are supposedly very nice dogs, but you never really know until they are in a situation of fear. I would never own one, nor would I want one anywhere around my dog or son. What's so rough is, people that defend these things like they are their own flesh and blood, and then blame others when they end up attacking someone or another dog.

The math simply does not lie. They're a tiny portion of dogs and appear in far more incidents that that.

There is a fairly large condo complex across the street from our house. There is a unit for sale in the complex, and the realtor has had an open house each of the past couple of weekends. She has put the open house sign in our yard on the strip between the sidewalk and the street. It makes it look like our house is having the open house.

I just heard the Brewer organist playing Sweet Caroline. Has he been doing that all year? Why are we channeling Fenway?

And just afterward, the DBacks homer to cut the lead.

NO MORE SWEET CAROLINE!

Well, it's not a whole lot different than playing the themes to Gilligan's Island, The Brady Bunch, or Barney Miller.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Part of the reason it continues to be played at Camp Randall is because the first time they played it...when I was in college...the student section continued to belt out the words long after the song had stopped playing. It was such a huge it, the band did a halftime tribute to Neil Diamond a few games later, and they have played it ever since.

Well now What's Bugging Me is how oblivious I've been to Sweet Caroline apparently being all around. I'm last to the party on that one--and I'm sure among whatever group there is to have it discontinued at Miller Park. I don't really care what happens at Camp Randall.

Let Boston have it. . .the song is fine, but it really does belong to them the way Cotton Eyed Joe belongs to the Rangers and Yankees.

At least you don't live with a Neil Diamond fan. Unless you're into Neil, in which case you'd fit right in around half of my household.

Even the guy I dated before I met the S.O. liked Neil Diamond - and so did his whole family. I remember one night in the 80s when they invited me over to watch, as a family, a Neil Diamond concert on videodisc. True story. I passed.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

A grown adult not just missing the start of an 11 am shift, but missing the shift completely because of 'waking up late.'

And the excuse is, "it's not my fault, I was up til almost 5 am, and my cell phone battery died, and my alarm didn't go off".

The sad thing is the person that was reciting this was stating it with the absolute conviction that these things were, in fact, NOT her fault.

The lack of personal responsibility amongst young adults is appalling.

( I suppose I should mention that this person has been starting her shift at 11 am for 3 years now, on the same 5 days of the week)
