What's bugging you? (2011)

DatHoser

…it really bothers me when I'm walking and someone steps out from a building, alleyway, or enters the path I'm walking on without ever looking to see if there is someone else coming.

Miller Park is one of the worst places for that.

The delays occur when people can't play nice and take turns.

People are great about playing nice and taking turns in Miller Park's parking lot (unless there's a disproportionate number if Illinois drivers). It's too bad that can't happen on the highway.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Why must groups of people hold hands to follow one another?

Me or my friends, even my female friends, never did this growing up. Now, constantly, I see anywhere from 5 to 20 people holding hands to follow one another, just getting in everyone's way.

If I've had a few Lite beers by Miller, sometimes I even try to join the conga line.

Paulus88[/b]]I agree that merging late is annoying but one of my friends is a traffic engineer and he says that merging at the point where the lane closes is the way the engineers design it and is suppossed to be the fastest way. I'm not so sure but that's what he says.
I think in some instances....yes, this is true. Example - 6th Street and Clybourn on ramp in downtown Milwaukee to I94 West. It's clear that the engineers designed this for people to use the full ramp to enter the freeway, especially when traffic is backed up on the free way. However, for some reason, people do not want to use the full ramp when traffic is backed up and want to try to merge into the backed up traffic immediatly, thereby backing up traffic on the on ramp.

An example, where I don't think the entire lane is supposed to be used...This is not really a lane that "ends", but east bound I94 at the Zoo interchange the left lane becomes an exit only lane (to I45 Northbound). When traffic backs up in the two right lanes during rush hour, there are always idiots who want to ride that exit only lane all the way to just about the exit point and slide into the middle lane at the last second. A lot of accidents occur in this area because of this (I was in one over 10 years ago...I was the 7th car in a chain reaction because someone slid in then slammed on their breaks). I also don't think this work in a construction zone situation where there are flashing arrows and several signs ahead that state "Construction ahead. Lane ends" I really think people need to get over earlier in this type of situation.

A teacher I will be working with next year wants to get together to plan. She asked when would be a good time to get together.

Me: Afternoons. My wife is working half days and I have to take care of my daughter in the mornings. I don't want to bring her with.

Her: How about we meet tomorrow morning at 9:00.

How often does 2k sports do roster upgrades for Xbox Live. I STILL can't play with K rod as a Brewer. They were slow as heck with Saito coming back as well...

The Show does it every Monday. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Well after not checking yesterday I could officially play as KROD today. However, being the realistic guy I am...a 11-3 Brewer lead is Dillard/Loe time and not a time for KROd. I'm such a nerd.
That makes me miss my days of playing MVP Baseball 2005. I used to do dynasty mode, acquire three elite pitchers, and then have them each start 50-60 games, go 8 innings each time, and fill out the rest of my roster with a few good hitters and some scrubs. That was the easy route to 110 wins per season.

KROD (and the Brewers in general) are so filthy on this game. I even had a CArdinal player (who knows if he was a fan of the team) say to me "It is cheating to take the Brewers". I was pitching as Randy Wolf even. Pretty fun times and a change of pace from past games.

Sometimes I play with my fantasy team on franchise mode. I won a cool 140 games once but there is no fun in that.

Not young kids, by any means. Almost invariably they are probably early college aged people.

working the night shift is both fun and horrible. 6pm to 6am. i work alone and it's nice to be relaxed and go at my own pace, but it's rough when 4am hits.

next week i have the night shift again for three nights, then get one day off, then work three days of 6am-6pm. ugh.

we'll see what IT thinks of me being on dating sites, email and brewerfan for half the night. and work uses Explorer, which is a superhighway for viruses--a visit to CBS Sports caused a three-hour crash and a lot of yelling.

i also have to drive down a deserted country road at about midnight to do some security checks--no ghosts wandering the road just yet, but give it time.

I employ college students at my library. One of the guys from last spring emailed me today to report that he's facing suspension for fall semester due to conduct violations in the dorms. He is appealing the decision and wonders if I'd be willing to write a supportive statement on his behalf.

Nothing about his on-the-job performance would have made me expect a suspension situation for him, but dang if I want to make that kind of a statement without knowing something about what he did. He said he'd provide more information if I wanted it. But this already looks like one of those "if you have to ask, you don't want to know the answer" kind of situations. I know the kinds of things it takes to get kicked out of Housing, much less off a UW campus, so the answer is not likely to be good.

I don't have enough information yet to know whether this is a lost cause, but bummer if it is, because this guy has been a good employee and if he doesn't or can't return, that's one more new person I have to hire and train in September. I want some energy left that month to follow a pennant race!

I don't mind your asking, but I sent you a PM with the answer. Hope that doesn't bug the rest of you. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I was kicked out of the dorms at UWL my freshman year and it was mainly because my hall director and a couple RA's from a different floor and I hated each other so I would find out your employee's side of the story.

In my case I ended up appealing all the way to the Dean of Students who over ruled the hall director and let me stay in the dorm until the end of the school year which was fine since I was moving off campus anyway.

My problmes started because I was dating a girl who a RA from a different floor liked so he decided to start writing me up for ridiculous ticky tack things (having a poster of a girl in a bikini on my wall, he claimed it was offensive to women and a violation of the student conduct policy as if it was the only poster of a woman in a college dorm, my room mate left his stero on and went to the bathroom leaving the room empyt since I was in the study at the end of the hall, so the dufus wrote me up for a noise violation, even thouht it wasn't my stereo and I cleary hadn't been in the room for a couple hours, that sort of thing) or blaming me for anything that happened and they couldn't pin on anyone else.

The culmination came when our entire floor had a beer party on a weekend and the hall director called the police who searched everyone's room and found nothing since everyone had cleared out already and the police told him to stop wasting their time because literally, there wasn't a single beer can or student around and no tickets were issued. The hall director called me to his office the next day and said since I was the instigator and supplier of all the beer (I was 17 my freshman year) that he was kicking me out. He also gave me a nice speech about how he understood I probably came from a broken home and had a tough upbrining he was just looking out for me and trying to teach me a lesson. Of course I hadn't planned any of the party, nor did my 17 year old face buy any of the beer and his take my family life couldn't have been further from the truth. I was stunned and honestly had never wanted to punch a guy as badly as I did this preachy, fake do gooder. His report to the Dean said all of the Hall Director's information came from a student on my floor, who was my best friend. My best friend showed up a the Dean's office with me and refuted the entire report and said the Hall Director was a complete liar and had never even talked to him and my friend had never said one thing that was written in the report.

The Dean over ruled the eviction but thought it would be best if I didn't have to deal with the hall director anymore and I agreed.

I laughed the following year when I heard the Hall Director's wife was cheating on him with a student and she left him. He was also gone from the university shortly thereafter, I didn't find out if he was fired or quit but he was quite possibly the biggest, word's I'm not allowed to say here, I have ever met.

I hadn't thought about this story in a long time but after reading that a student was being kicked out of the dorms it reminded me of it and made me think of how I hated that lying hall director and his stooge RA that couldn't get over my girlfiend.
