What's bugging you? (2012)

JimH5
My trips to the bathroom are seldom amazing or epic!

That bugs you?

We've been having a problem with our interwebs where we get ~10MBPS everywhere but our family room, where we get ~1MBPS. I think our air conditioner, which stands directly between our router and our family room, is causing a disturbance. So, I have to slink away to a bedroom to watch the Brewers.

Also, I called Cisco because our router was having connectivity issues. After about 15 minutes of giving them my name, email, phone, and getting a case number, they told me they couldn't help me for free because my router is over 1 year old. Then, they told me they could help for a one time $29.95 charge. I started chuckling, asked if anybody ever actually pays the fee, and then hung up.

The fact that the US Postal Service has discontinued First Class Mail International Parcel as an online option bugs me intensely. The service is still available, but one must now physically go to the Post Office and pay for the postage as well as fill out all of the customs forms by hand. The least expensive online option is now Priority Mail International which is of course much more expensive.

The parts that I make and routinely send out weigh just under 2 pounds. First Class International was about $18 to send them just about anywhere. Priority Mail International is right at $40. My International customers aren't thrilled by this; not even a little bit, and it is costing me business.

If I go to the Post Office and jump through all their hoops it takes an hour out of my day and takes a gallon of gasoline. I obviously can't do that for free. If I add a "handling charge" that's even remotely fair, the cost becomes such that Priority Mail International is the much better option, which is of course what the USPS is counting on.

Unfortunately, in their greed and shortsightedness, they fail to realize that their profit on $18 was much greater than their profit is now on $0.

Boo, I say! BOOOOOOOOO!

Yeah, it bothers me just how badly "politics" has been turned almost exclusively into a team sport... when the actual idea behind it all is to govern in the best interests of the populace, regardless of party affiliation. :(

Working in an office full of people that don't agree with me politically.

i sort of had that once, too. one person there occasionally would stand up and start stumping and using very very nasty words against the other side. it sounds odd to say because of the details i'm purposefully omitting, but another coworker once came to me in tears because of it. i reported her at that point.

AT&T bugs me. For whatever reason, my wife's name was on our DSL bill, and we have wireless service with them. We called about changing our service, because it was getting expensive, and the person my wife talked to said we could save about 20 bucks a month just by putting my name on the account instead of my wife's and we can link the wireless and DSL together. Cool. We didn't install any new equipment, changed nothing, and it has been hassle after hassle the last 2 months. Just getting it set up, I had to call 3 times because service worked, then didn't, and then did. We've had times where we had no service, or slow connection, and it wasn't the router, wasn't anything but on AT&T. I call Monday night, talked to a guy, he runs a test to "optimize our DSL", and amazingly enough, IT WORKS GREAT! UGH!

I tried to reach madison dot com this morning (Wisconsin State Journal / Capital Times website) and after having trouble getting to the page I wanted to begin with, got a "you have used your five free pages in 30 days/gotta register" screen.

I did some googling and found a page (which I can't access without registration) that Google suggests was posted ONE DAY AGO by madison.com. Nice job on the advance notice. Even the Journal Sentinel gave a few weeks' advance. So I'm actually furious at the moment, but expect that to settle back to a more customary "bugged."

I am sooooo sick of the Pizza Hut commercial that FSN plays on a loop during Brewers games.

The one where the guy with the sunburnt looking face opens the fridge to find only a black banana. I hate the noise the fridge is making, and I hate seeing the same image so often during each game.

That is all.

Waiting to hear back about job interviews.

Waiting to hear back about job interviews.

I hate applying for jobs. And then interviewing for ones that you might be over-qualified for (at least in terms of schooling). Then actually getting your hopes up because the interview seemingly went well and it seemed like a great place to work. Then getting a rejection email. Then following up asking why exactly you weren't a fit and getting no response.

i've always thought most places won't tell you that for legal reasons.

Well I basically just asked if they thought I wasn't experienced enough or over-qualified. I said if it was a matter of being overqualified, that it wouldn't be a problem for me and that I would basically be willing to work for whatever salary. I also just wanted to know if there was anything I could work on in the future to improve. If they couldn't say anything, it would've at least been nice to get a response saying that.

People who take rec league softball too seriously.

So 85% of people who play?

All I've ever really done is filled in for teams and that's been enough for me. Some people just can't get over the fact they weren't good enough to make it past the freshman hardball team I guess.

Sort of like being told that you did nothing wrong and that you were an excellent interview, but somebody else was better.

I've been seeing a lot of people ditch their carts wherever they feel like it at grocery stores lately, even when they are a few feet from a cart repository. Yesterday a lady left her cart in the middle of the vestibule, rather than pushing it five more feet to deposit it with the other carts. I also saw a lady recently leave her cart in the self-checkout aisle.

^^

As years go by, people are getting more and more inconsiderate of others. Your example of people leaving their carts wherever they feel like is just a small sample of the disgust I feel for other people these days.

There is truly a lack of common sense, integrity, and morals as well.

I am long used to seeing carts in parking spaces and while it's annoying, there is a part of me that understands it if there is nowhere close to put them. It's when people dump them literally a few feet from their appropriate resting place that makes me want to kick them in the ear.

Carts in parking spaces is inexcusable to me for any reason. Carts roll around the parking lots, banging into cars, causing damage. People don't consider that when they are just plain too lazy to walk their carts where they belong. I take my cart to a cart coral no matter what. I like to set a good example for my kids.

Too many people just figure someone else will cover for them, why go out of their way to do what's right.

Not related, but has bugged me since I saw it. A few weeks ago, I saw a lady pull into a parking space designated for pregnant women (don't even get me started on the amount of designated parking spaces for certain people) and she gets out of the car with a cigarette. First thought was that she was just lazy and took a pregnant space to be selfish. I looked at her belly, and sure enough, she is probably 6 months along, smoking a cigarette.

Just another example of people only caring about themselves, even when it means possible harm to their own children.

Being told that you will be called to tell you the result of a 2nd interview the same day...only to get no call. So, am I to assume that I did not get the position? I am so nervous regarding this call I can't sleep.

Sorry, this reply is a little late. I also can never understand why people can not return their carts. How lazy do you have to be. However, I just wanted to make sure I understand this post. When you say "vestibule" what are you talking about? Are you talking about the "cart coral" that is located in the parking lots. I'm sure there has been many times when I have pushed my cart into the "coral", but it didn't necessarily get pushed all the way against the last previous cart. Is it important that this happen for some reason?
