What's bugging you? (2012)

I think it is more hype than anything. I had one of the doritos locos tacos, and it was ok. There are a lot of things on their menu I like a lot better, so for me, it was a one time thing.

To each his own though.

Do you know something that really bugs me?

People who stop moving the second the step off an escalator.

Or those who decide to stop and wait for the rest of their friends directly in the middle of the flow of people walking, instead of taking 4 more steps to where no one is moving at all.

The commercial starring Bonnie the elderly lady who zooms through a CVS on her Segway. She grabs Vitamin D off a shelf and knocks more to the floor; then she grabs hand sanitizer out of another customer's hands; then she yells at the pharmacist that she wants a flu shot but has no appointment. What the hell is that? Bonnie is not doing her part to keep me out of Walgreens.

Thats why I hate malls during shopping season. There are always people just standing around chit chatting meanwhile 50 people need to funnel through a 3 foot space.

And don't even get me starting on people waiting in there car for 10 minutes for hopefully another car to leave meanwhile a stack of 5-10 cars is sitting behind them.

People who feel the need to crowd the boarding door at the gate, then glare at you and make comments as you get on the plane before they do when they call for elite and first class boarding,

So today I was playing NHL13 online on my Xbox...and what do I see...presidential campaign ads all along the boards. I thought video games were a safe haven from the annoying campaigns ads but I guess they are going to jam it down my throat any way possible.

To make it worse, it was the candidate that I'm not voting for too...but because this is not a political forum, I'm going to leave it at that.

EDIT: If I wanted to avoid the potential bottleneck entering from I-794, I think I'd take St. Paul Avenue west from downtown and enter the freeway from the ramp between 26th and 27th Streets.

There are a lot of people that work downtown and live west. I think it's crazy that we have to look for "alternate routes" out of downtown on a permanent basis, especially after they just rebuilt the entire Marquette interchange in order to make travel through the interchange EASIER. The whole design seems to have been very poorly thought out when it comes to people leaving downtown.

I was listening to WTMJ on the way home yesterday. I didn't hear the full story, but it sounded like next week sometime the DOT is going to come out with some news about alternate design plans for 794 out of Milwaukee.

I'm playing NHL 12 offline and there is someone's face on every other ad. It made us want to puke.

This morning I received 3 random auto quotes that they say I signed up for online. I didn't and I didn't fill out any surveys or go to any sketchy websites. I'm not too worried about it but the Ol lady is concerned that someone is trying to steal my identity. I thought maybe it was a friend trying to pull a fast one...anyways, anyone ever have this happen to them or know anything about it?

The WTMJ dude who can't pronounce "jaguars" bugs me. There are two proper pronunciations, American and British. Both match up well to the spelling. Neither turns the last part of the word into "wire."

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Pretty depressing day in FDL; the young woman who killed three of her friends after she was driving to fast on a country raod is getting sentenced this morning. Hard to believe but this case may be more heated than the political races right now.

Regardless of if she gets jail time or not it is just a sad situation all the way around.

So tonight when we got home the voice mail thing was flashing, again, on the phone. This time it wasn't a political call, but a mysterious call from what appears to be a student loan collection agency for a former (like 20 years ago) coworker. It's supposedly urgent that we call back. The individual for whom they're calling used to be a friend, but we had a fairly major falling out in 2005 and he moved out of state soon after.

My question (since I don't have a history of delinquent debts and thus no experience with loan collectors):

Is it common for collection agencies to dig deep enough so they try to reach individuals through past acquaintances, or does this contact mean this guy actually supplied our home phone number to someone as a way to get hold of him? I'm not thrilled about either option, but if it proves to be the latter, then this guy might want to count his blessings that he's out of state, because if I could reach him I'd give him a piece of my mind. I mean, what the hell?

It is very common. It is also very much in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act....

I'd just let it go and move on. It is not urgent... they'll just fish for anyone they can.

I was thinking last night that if we called back, it would just signal to the collection agency that ours was a valid (as in, someone answers there, though not that we have any idea how to contact their target) number and matters would just be made worse. Plus, I'd forgotten about it all day until I had a chance to peek at this thread just now.
