Captain Crunch is good for a Saturday morning when you've got a half hour to let the things soak in the milk first, kinda like Grape Nuts. Grape Nuts are awesome, don't get me wrong, but man they give the jaw a workout.

a year ago I found Boo Berries in the grocery store. excited and nostalgic I bought like six boxes, just in case it was a temporary run or something. yeah, that was a mistake.

Cookie Crisp is the best cereal in the world that nobody really buys anymore.

I taped last Thursday's Wisconsin womens hoop game on Wisconsin Public Television. I ran the tape long. Now I'm watching some German comedy program WHA ran that's akin to "Friends". Two young guys and two gals. So far I've understood two words.

A while back when I found out my winter break would be a week longer than usual, I was really excited. Now after five weeks, with all my friends and girlfriend back at their schools, I'm super bored. Surprisingly, sleeping 10 hours a day while spending my 14 waking hours browsing BF/Facebook, playing PS2, eating, and watching whatever college basketball game is on gets boring. I never thought that would happen.

Steve Reich is my new Elliott Smith.

The minimalist composer?

Yes. For some reason, I had never given him a serious listen until the past few weeks. I've just been eating up everything I can find that he wrote.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound surprised or anything. The personalities in this place just continue to amaze me. I never thought I would hear someone make an obscure mention of Steve Reich. I got one of my degrees in Music and a buddy of mine in college did a fairly long research paper on minimalism, with large parts of it focusing on him. There are some really great stories out there regarding his compositional training...just shows how both difficult and humorous it can be to pioneer a musical genre.

That said, my random thought of the day is that I haven't picked up my trombone in way too long, but for some reason I had a dream last night that involved my trombone. I have no idea what I was doing or what I was trying to play, or if I was even trying to play. All I know is that I was there, my trombone was there, and that's it. Wait...it was a dark room, and there was a music stand, but no music. Okay, that's all I know...except that I was wearing sunglasses....and a hat. Weird.

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.

I saw THERE WILL BE BLOOD tonight. Great movie. They'll probably get pounded to death and everyone will be sick of them in a few months, but right now I can't get enough of Daniel Day-Lewis's glorious line readings of "DDDrrraaaiiiinnnaaagggeee!" and "I DRINK your milkshake!".

I coach the 5th grade girls basketball team for St. Francis Xavier in Cross Plains and we had a scrimmage against Plain last night. So before the game I'm talking to their coach and he's telling me about this new girl his team has who has never played ball before but she's really good. The girls dad comes to practices and gets on her pretty good, as does the mom. Then he tells me her dad is an ex-baseball player who used to pitch for the Braves. So I'm like wow sweet what's his name. Turns out to be Bob Wickman. The coach must not be a Brewer fan. Their team is coming here to scrimmage us on Monday night @ 5:00 @ St. Francis. My daughter wants him to sign a baseball card for her, does that seem cheesy?
