Random thoughts that are pointless and too dumb to say anywhere else thread: 2008 (Jan. – June)

And That
Good gracious it's beautiful here today in Portland. I haven't seen a more beautiful view of the mountains - especially Mt. St. Helens & Mt. Hood - than is visible today. I wish I had a good camera so I could share!

The Pacific Northwest is just an awesome area in general. I love it out there.

If only we could cut the rain down to about 2/3 of normal level - which, mind you, would still be a TON. It drives me a bit crazy, but you certainly can see how the greenery & landscape in general thrives upon said rain. I can't wait for June/July when we can all enjoy some nice weather & the gorgeous scenery.

Man, that's the one major thing I miss about living in Portland. Clear days. I will never forget when my dad and I first saw Mt. Hood for the first time as we were driving on I-84 east. We were both silent for a while. That's a beautiful drive. Growing up here in Wisconsin and not seeing real mountains....wow. Of course, in a week, I'm moving to San Antonio, where there are neither mountains nor snow. But I can close my eyes and see Hood and St. Helens very clearly. Great stuff!

The ending of "Stranger Than Fiction" completely ruined the beautiful hour and forty minutes that preceded it. I kept telling myself it wasn't going to happen... and then it did. No movie could be *that* obvious, could it? Yes, yes it could.

Oh my God I thought the exact same thing when I watched that movie. It had such a cool storyline and there was some really good writing all the way through, so when it got to the end I thought there would be something unexpected. Of course not.

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.

I hope that was 30 dollars on swedish meatballs!

If I weren't a vegan, yes. Hah. IKEA does have an amazing breakfast special, tho.

I almost bought an $80 painting print and a $90 TV stand for my house, but I held off. Maybe next week.

Edit: It should be noted that the "meat" in IKEA meatballs should probably be sold under some sort of IKEA-esque moniker, like MEET.

Earlier this year, my daughter graduated from a crib to a "big girl bed". For her bed, we went to IKEA and picked one out that was pretty sleek and low to the floor. She rolled out of it one night and just laughed it off. Anyway, the bed is called MALM, which makes no sense to me. In Swedish, it must mean "low rise bed that reduces injury to young children".

We have also bought bookcases from IKEA called BILLY, and a single shelf with a hidden bracket called LACK.

Goofy named stuff that's not bad for the price.

I don't get the title to the movie "Bull Durham". I understand the name of the team is the Durham Bull's, but I don't get the play on words and what it has to do at all with anything in the movie.

User in-game thread post in 1st inning of 3rd game of the 2022 season: "This team stinks"

I've never been in an IKEA store, nor purchased or even really perused their products - even though it might be the kind of stuff I would like. Wouldn't Madison be an IKEA kind of city?

Taking a mostly random tangent, I've also never eaten Taco Bell food. When I was younger (and probably more likely to fall for their ads and food), there wasn't a Taco Bell where I lived. Now I am curious to see just how long in life I can go without it.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

The only thing I ever really want at Taco Bell is the Mountain Dew Baja Blast. Sometimes I'll go there and just ask for a large soda.

But then I figured out if you put blue Powerade with Mountain Dew, it tastes kinda the same. I figured this out because I can never pick one drink at most fast-food restaurants. I spend a lot of time plotting what my drink will be, and make sure to get the perfect mix. I highly recommend Mountain Dew and Fruit Punch (with a splash of Root Beer) http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Three of my co-workers and I have been playing hackysack in the back room of our office for a year now. When we started we were pretty bad, but now we're actually decent. The funny thing is that it consumes at least two hours of work a day and the room we use has numerous black marks on the wall along with a couple of holes. Good thing the building is being remodeled next year.

I have a framed print of a fish on the wall of our office, but I'm not a fisherman. I don't even like fishing

But if the print isn't of the fish being lured, hooked, reeled in, netted, etc... wouldn't the real question be: Do you like fish/swimming/water/aquatic life/sea horses?
