So there is a new Hyundai (I think it's Hyundai?) comercial where this girl is singing "Up on the rooftop". I couldn't get it out of my head. So I had to look it up. Turns out it's a "group" called Pomplamoose and they have a lot of great cover song videos on YouTube (actually have songs for sale on Itunes as well). I really enjoy how they remade the songs and I love the videos.

Grooveshark.com is the greatest website of all-time. All-time!

Since I saw your post this morning, I have been listening to Grooveshark at work today. A couple of comments/questions:

1) I'm not a big library or playlist guy. I like to select artists and then have the site play songs by those artists and artists that are similar to those artists. I'm used to Pandora, so I'm not sure if I set things up correctly for the "radio" mode in Grooveshark. I selected a few songs and it seems to be playing other songs based on those selection. However, I'm not sure if the radio "station" is set up to play similar songs basedo the actual songs I selected or the artists. I prefer it base it off the artist.

2) I do like that Grooveshark seems to have a much larger library than Pandora.

3) My biggest complaint, and it's a big one, is that each song seems to come in at a different volumes. One song is really quite, then next is really loud.

Even though you can not download the songs onto your computer (to keep) for free on Grooveshark, I'm going to guess that the music industry is eventually going to step in and try to stop this site or demand that they charge a user fee (that they get a piece of). The ability to choose specific songs and create playlists or a library to access anywhere you have internet access without paying anything seems to be walking that fine thin line of music piracy.

Kind of like television commercials. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Sites can avoid charging user fees by displaying ads and sending tracking cookies. I've never looked at Grooveshark, but maybe that's already happening.

I did the same thing a few months back. I was feeling nostalgic for Star Wars and popped in Episode 1. I couldn't believe I actually enjoyed it when it was in theaters originally. The funny thing is that I think the special effects hold up very poorly compared to the effects in the original trilogy. All that CGI stuff is very jarring to look at, in my opinion.

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to watch the Clone Wars TV series until I've seen the Clone Wars movie. I prefer to let George Lucas disappoint me in the order he intended.

so one of my jobs is at Wal-Mart, and it intrigues me that after six months there, i'd be able to transfer to any Wal-Mart anywhere. maybe if this Austin, Texas thing doesn't work out, it'll be time for the Virgin Islands or some crazy place like that. not that it'd be enough to live on right away, but it'd be a big head start.

About a week ago on a windy night, I was going from my car to my apartment with a fresh load of laundry in a hamper. After putting all my socks away, I noticed I had a single sock. There's nothing I hate more than single socks. The next day, i went for a run and found the sock about in front of the local YMCA, at least a mile away from my house. I know it was mine because they're some sweet as Nike Shox ones that are labeled L and R.

Without a doubt, the luckiest thing that has ever happened to me. Which is kind of sad.

I will note I have lost trillions playing poker since that time. Worst downswing of my life. The world works in mysterious ways.

I don't own a lot of socks that I care much about, I tend to buy them in packages containing several pairs, and often, one sock wears out before it's mate. So I don't get too bent out of shape over an odd sock in my drawer.

A few years ago, Shopko had white ankle socks on sale on Black Friday, for something like 6 pair for $3. I bought 4-5 packs, and years later, am still wearing them, despite throwing out a bunch, due to holes. The other day I noticed I only had a couple clean ones, all the rest are in the laundry. I should have bought more.

I often think I bet I was the only person that went to Shopko that day to buy socks.

Yeah, 3 years ago when I was on vacation in SF I bought several packs of just plain white ankle socks from H&M. Best I've ever owned, and super cheap. I'm running low on them these days. I just tried to order some but apparently they don't have a website for the US. That's pretty hard to believe.

TJ Maxx is also a really good place to buy socks. I pick up a package everytime I go there.

So...with the first advisory-worthy snowfall of the season on its way, each local newscast has to run the annual obligatory story on how stores are being slammed by customers needing snowblowers, shovels and ice melt.

I understand the ice melt (you use it up, you eventually have to replenish).

I'm guessing the new snowblower sales are to people whose old snowblowers died suddenly, or who decided that THIS is finally the year they're going to cave in and get a snowblower.

I don't understand the annual run on shovels. Do people throw their shovels away after each winter and start fresh every year? Are these only the people who buy cheap crappy shovels which are less likely to last more than a year? Are the new-shovel sales primarily to new property owners who have not had to shovel before?

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I was reading an article on the recent accident that was possibly caused by inattentive driving/texting. This lead me to read what the exact texting law stated.

It turns out its illegal to write and to send text messages, but its perfectly legal to read text messages and to SURF THE INTERNET.

I'm happy if this law will prevent future accidents, but I see people using Facebook or other Apps to circumvent the no texting law.

They can still cite you for inattentive driving, regardless.

True, but maybe its the cynic in me, but if there is a need for a separate texting law, why not include web surfing. To me web surfing is just as dangerous as texting.

Yeah I have a GPS unit on my iPhone. I have a feeling cops are gonna get annoyed with pulling over people who aren't technically breaking the law.

That said, I'm all for the texting law. Texting while driving isincredibly selfish, and most of all dangerous.

Anybody else do a double-take when the saw that Michael Jordan is now bringing back the Hitler mustache

Yeah, I've noticed that for awhile.

And then Charles Barkley was on Conan this week and brought it up. Said he was doing a Taco Bell ( 5 buck box, it rocks it rocks) and if a piece of cheese was misplaced in the taco they'd redo the take. And MJ gets away with a Hitler mustache. Barkley's a funny dude.

The Hanes commercials have always been a bit off. Here's one off MJ and Kevin Bacon flirting.

Not to hi-jack, but a serious question about the texting law. Is it in effect at a red light? On the one hand, it seems silly to make it subjective and ask officers to distinguish drive time versus idle time, on the other hand it seems very silly -- and arguably a major infringement on our rights -- to say that a driver can't send a text while sitting idly at a red light. If I'm a criminal for answering "yes" or "no" to a text question while sitting at a red light instead of pulling into a parking lot to do the same, that's just sad and awful. Not to mention, it takes more attention to dial a 7-digit number (which is legal) than it does to send a 3-character text ... I think I might have some objection to the new law, in principle.
