Random thoughts that are pointless and too dumb to say anywhere else thread: 2011

NeedMoreFans
Do any genuine baseball fans actually say "Sa-WING battabatta!" at games nowadays? It sounds way too hackneyed to me to show real interest in the game.

Over the last three weeks of the Brewers' 2011 season, I heard this at two games, from two separate fans, neither of whom seemed all that knowledgeable about the game (based on other things they yelled).

My favorite was the woman who between sa-WINGbattabattas, kept howling. Howling. It wasn't even a Randy Wolf start.

I think I know exactly who you are talking about! Dark hair, In her 30's (?), at the game by herself (no, not front row Amy), sits in or around section 217. I had the "pleasure" of sitting next to her for 3 or 4 games this year. I posted something about her a while ago in the "what's bugging you thread".

Oh, sadly (if this means there were two fans like this at MP this year) the woman I observed was blonde. She and the two men with her all had State Farm t-shirts on, which made me think they'd been part of that State Farm "go to bat" promotion. That trio sat in 218, right across the aisle from us in 217, on the night of the division clincher. That woman was tugging on the same post-game streamers I was. I got the streamers, mostly because I was motivated to not let the howler get them.

A visitor to my library Monday night left the following lost-and-found note:

"Picture of Nude Female. If found, contact (name/phone/email). $10 reward."

My Monday night employee said this guy told him that he was missing a portrait of his nude girlfriend and thought he might have left it in our stacks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif

Mona Simpson, Homer Simpson's mother, is named after novelist Mona Simpson, sister of Steve Jobs. The connection is that the ex-husband of Mona the novelist has written for the show.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Lots of questions spring to mind with this one but why do you take a nude picture of your GF to the library? Would you want to use a book you found a nude picture in that wasn't meant to be in the book? How would Chris Carpenter explain all this to his son?

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

You are correct. Lots of questions do spring to mind with this one.

My most benign guess is that dude is maybe in an art class and sketched his sweetie.

Had he exhibited a Carpenteresque potty mouth with my employee, I probably would have heard more about it, so at least he's got that going for him.

I think if I were the girlfriend, my question would be "$10?"

How can something be written in the stars a million miles away when the nearest star is something like 90+ million miles away? What stars and a million miles away from what? If you want to write something in the stars, a million miles away isn't going to cut it.

I just realized I forgot to help my special needs sister set up her fantasy football team last week. To make things worse she played against me with half her team on a bye week and I crushed her. There goes my good brother award for the year.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

I know it's easy to talk smack about athletes you hate from behind a keyboard, and most of the time we're just venting. However, I swear that if I were in public and saw Jon Jay chewing on gum, I would punch him in the face. Despite all the nonsense the Cardinals pull, his method of chewing gum was the most annoying thing for me to watch this postseason.

I double-booked myself for Thursday night - my daughter's concert, and taking my son to a big HS Fb game. Guess which one I'd rather go to? Hopefully I can figure out how to get to both.
Luckily for you, others have had the same problem.

Dippin' Dots - the ice cream of the future! - has filed for bankruptcy.

I can't help but think of all those summer days and nights I walked right by the dippin' dots sales points at Miller Park, or made fun of the "ice cream of the future" ad since the product was invented in 1987. I've never had Dippin' Dots, and now I probably never will.

On the up side, maybe this is just the break that Dippin' Dots knockoff and erstwhile MP one-year wonder concession item IttiBitz has been hoping and praying for.
