Random thoughts that are pointless and too dumb to say anywhere else thread: 2012

Agreed, really glad to hear it. Not because we don't need other teams' fans posting, but that dude was... well, yeah.

I know there was a Reds fan who was a really nice poster to have on the board, but I believe that was on the old [rhymes with Poopoo] board. It'd be nice to have more of those types of opposing fans join up & participate.

We've rarely had trouble with fans of other teams. Most have been nice additions to the board. But for whatever reason, we've had a lot of trouble with Cardinals fans.

Shocking

I was awoken the other morning at 5 AM, thinking I was hearing my daughter talking in the other room. After I got out of my fog of being woken from a deep sleep, I realized it was not my daughter and was a pair of owls hooting away. One must have been right next to our house because it was obviously loud enough to wake me up and keep me awake. Yes, I realize that I confused owls for my daughter, but I'm used to being woken by her, not by owls.

Hearing a couple of owls calling back & forth is pretty cool, it just sucks you had to be woken up to hear it.

Not if they are Screech Owls. Those things are relentless and LOUD!

I used to have one that lived in the woods behind my house. A lot of sleepless nights with that thing out there. Tried wrist rockets and bottle rockets, but to no success.

I wish I would have been here for this Cardinals troll. :(

You didn't miss much. Just more reinforcement of the Cards holier than thou attitude. Playing the game the right way and such.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

In terms of quantity, there was quite a bit to miss. Dude posted to the Major League forum 72 times in a span of 2 days, 9 hours, and 31 minutes. After the ban, a total of 195 posts were removed from the Major League forum. 8 of GoQ's posts are left.

theavrock summed things up well.

I don't know if this 'holier than thou attitude' stigma was branded into all of your brains. I think I've explained things and not been high and mighty... I just think thats something you guys have gotten used to using as a way to say something negative about Cards fans.

No you haven't done it without being high and mighty. What follows below is a sample of your holier than thou attitude. You have shown in two days that you are unable to be objective and only come here to tell everyone how great your team is. Your posts are dripping with condescension and show a lack of tolerance for others viewpoints.

That isn't what this forum is about and certainly not the reason that I have been a member for the last 6 years. Mods, can we get rid of this guy? This is completely unrepresentative of why I love BF.

"Some will get it, most wont."

"One thing people don't understand outside of the Cardinals is the emphasis on character. They have the luxury of taking guys that match a character profile, for the most part."

"Brewers are not so fortunate and have to sign guys like Ramirez who is a proven 'me' first, low energy loser. Or Morgan who wouldn't be welcomed in most mlb clubhouses. "

"And maybe some day franchises like yours will understand the value in attitude and character instead of knocking it as a useless attribute..."

"And yes, Carpenter did some nasty things last year. He is a fierce competitor, but are you not seeing how that differs from a 'me' first or lackadaisical attitudes of a Ramirez, Milton Bradley, Nyjer Morgan, Soriano type of player? "

"I like to break things down, right down to what they really are..."

"You can call it a stereotype... but one organization knows how to win and another doesn't."

"They can pick and choose guys more than teams like Milwaukee, filtering through the guys with less character... thats the point."

"Most of you have the 2 party political syndrome. You're very blinded by created perceptions. This post ^ is the precise regurgitated dribble that keeps you blind"

"I guess you don't follow along to well"

"Where are we as men if we give up these unwritten man rules?"

"we've established it didn't matter if it was intentional."

"Again, what a joke."

"Not sure where on earth this can get lost in translation. "

"Why is this so difficult to swallow?"

"Life isn't a popularity contest. Character defines what you bring to a clubhouse."

"This shouldn't be to hard to understand"

"is a serious homer. "

"Haha, moneyball sure turned a lot of people in geniuses."

"And glad you confirmed that you think a one position platoon player is more valuable than a 5 position guy with unmatched character."

In addition to what theavrock points out, here are two of my personal favorites:

"Surprisingly the world does not revolve around Wisconsin…"

"Paul123.. my god, not sure where I would even begin with responding to that debacle…"

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Don't forget the comment that 'hey this totally isn't racist, but it's usually white guys that 'get' the Cardinals Way... let me point out, I can name one black guy that I feel fits this description as a prospect in low-A ball I've totally seen play more than just this ST... so, like I said, not racist'

"Its not a race issue, but it happens that more often than not its white players that fit this model, which is probably why the Cards haven't had many black players in the last 10 years."

This is what a World War II soldier's letter to his wife looked like after the censor got ahold of it. It was printed in the [cite]Wisconsin State Journal[/cite] on March 19, 1944.

After leaving where we were before, we left for here. The weather here is just as it is at this season but, of course, quite unlike the weather where we were before we came here. After leaving by what we came by, we had a good trip. Land and water is just like it would be here and not where we were.

The people here are just like they look, but don't look to be like they were where we came from. From there to here is just as far as from here to there. The way we came here is just like everyone comes from there to here. The whole thing is quite a new experience here because it is not like what it is like where we were before we left for here, although all the ground and houses here are like all the ones they would have here.

The time here is just the same time they had there, only different. It is now time to stop this somewhat too newsy letter before I give away too much information, because the censor is likely to be a spy as they have there, only not quite.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Casey, where did you get that? My students would love to see that (well, I'd love to show them that) when we get to WWII.

On a totally unrelated note, the owl made a visit again last night at 1 AM. This may turn into a "Bugging You" post, but I think owls are cool, so I'm not terribly bugged by it. This time, it was alone. I have done some research, and by the sounds of things, we have a Great Horned Owl living by us. I think I have seen it once...being chased by crows.
