Random thoughts that are pointless and too dumb to say anywhere else thread: 2013

Any other WWSP 90FM trivia players out there? I was so swept up in it this year I didn't think to start a thread. My team came in 78th, but we were thrilled as it's only our second year seriously competing.

I'm really sad I have to wait another year to do that much delirious Googling again.

I love V-8 juice! I have a can every morning. Not only do I get several servings of veggies but I also get 38% of my daily sodium intake. So I got that going for me, which is nice.

FWIW, there is reduced-sodium V-8.

Ya Hawing, I know I know. My wife informs me of that too ;) I think I'll give it a run, but it's not as good as the real thing. At least I'm having this debate instead of weather or not I should be drinking diet or regular Mt Dew, or something like that.

A few years ago I compared labels between regular V-8 and the reduced sodium variety. I'm almost positive that everything, not just the sodium, was 50% what the regular was (i.e., Vitamin C was 50% of recommended daily intake vs. 100%). I walked away with the assumption that they apparently just cut it with water, maybe added some flavoring to make up for it and was passing this off as "reduced sodium."

They do the same thing with kids juice, like "Motts for Tots." It's just regular grape juice that's been watered down so they can say "50% less sugar than regular juice!". Well, that's because it's 50% water.

I never understood this whole "cicadas - every 17 years stuff"

http://news.yahoo.com/theyre-back-17-cicadas-swarm-georgia-york-141835694.html

Seems like they run this story every other year. Also, I hear and see cicadas every year around here.

I looked at that because people in OH Always asked if we'd seen one of these swarms. There are apparently different breeds and therefore different 'main hatches.' That'd why you see stories more often than once every 17 years. There are cicadas out there every year but when there is a swarm they are apparently everywhere. Like thick, all over the houses and cars, etc. they even have bbqs where they cook em up because there are so many! That's crazy.

Redd's Apple Ale is really good. We don't drink beer but bought a 12 pack of bottles after getting a free tasting at The Keg. For people that don't like beer, give it a chance.

I don't really understand the benefit of Chase Quick Pay. yes, sending money is as quick and easy as sending an email, but did you hear the voice at the end of commercial? The deposits are available in 1 to 5 business days. Tell that to the babysitter or neighborhood kid mowing the lawn.

Gee, what does the new Vikings/Gophers stadium remind me of. . .

I have thinning hair, pretty much bald on top. A little less than a year ago I decided to give up the "illusion" that I had hair and just went with the "buzz cut". However, I still only go to the barber once every 3 months or so, so it tends to get a little long and shaggy (where it still grows on my head). I guess I just have this conflicted feeling about going to the barber. It just doesn't seem right to want more of something and then go someplace where you pay a person to take a bunch of that something away from you.

Honestly, I did the same thing 3 years ago, only I went and bought a $30 set of Wahl clippers. Now it's 10 minutes before I shower once every couple weeks. Quick, easy, painless.

Well, yes. Usually I take baths in the local fountains.
