2007 Vent Thread, Part 3

Give Suppan a two run lead, and watch him give it away.

Then give him a FOUR run lead, and watch him do his best to give it away with a bunch of two-out hits.

What can we do? Just suck it up and let him be practically an automatic loss until he works whatever the problem is out? Hypnotize him into thinking it's the 2006 playoffs all over again?

Yay for wasting money on mediocre players!!!!

Not only did signing Suppan waste a lot of money of a pitcher who's never been very good, but it probably keeps us from resigning a better player like Sheets or Capuano.

I realize the necesity to blame vaporating leads on someone, but I hope that for all the blame Yost gets due to the benefit of hindsight, he gets just as much credit when things are going good. (Personally I don't think he should get too much of either, but to each his own i suppose)

roco is on the same page as my vent. Matt Wise in the 9th. Yes, I realize that it's been 6 days since he pitched and he probably needed the work. But I'd rather have Spurling or Capellan get an inning of work in a non-pressure situation.

And, yes, why on earth was Cordero throwing in the 9th, too? Man, oh man. I will be quite ticked in September/October if it's Rollie Fingers Part II in the playoffs.

1. I was okay with Turnbow in the 8th. Hart's home run to make it a five-run lead came with two outs. Even though Ned should have had either Spurling or Capellan warming up once they started getting baserunners, I'll give him benefit of the doubt.

2. Wise in the 9th was unacceptable. Capellan and Spurling need to work once in a while, and blowouts seem like the best time.

Oh, well. I'm just happy we got insurance runs and put that team away last night. The offense really stepped up after Suppan tried to blow the lead in the fifth.

I think it's becoming fairly clear that Wise is in the doghouse for something. He's pitching once a week and in unusual situations.

As I said in the chat last night, I think maybe the team has gotten sick of his absurd usage limitations at this point.

This is a good point. Hadn't really thought of it. That said, it doesn't make much sense to me to burn Villy AND Turnbow, and then burn Wise when the game is out of hand.

Maybe it's a good thing that I just can't figure out the bullpen usage by Ned. He uses mop-up guys in strange situations, and then he uses our good guys in mop-up situations. It's all very odd.

Would somebody plaese tell Ryan Braun his batting helmet is to big. I am getting tired of watching the guy adjust his helmet 2-3 times between each base. Seriously man that thing doesn't fit. You are in the big leagues now they have guys to fix that stuff now.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Warming up Cordero with a 5 run lead with one out in the 9th. Honestly, I almost think Ned hopes these teams score to create save situation so he can totally blow Cordero out by August.

And if a quick rally occurs and Co-Co isn't warmed up, Yost's head would be on the chopping block for not having his closer ready.

YOST: I defend you, perhaps foolishly, but please... Pinch hit Jenkins for Mench in the 8th against righties. I cannot stress this enough.

I was coming here to post the same thing. Mench is borderline useless vs lefties but he is completely worthless against righties, he can't even manage a .600 OPS against them and since he refuses to take a walk thats a SLG heavy .580 OPS its even worse than it looks.

I'd have rather had Gabe Gross, Dave Bush, Carlos Villanueva, Bob Uecker, anyone but Mench at the plate against a RHP in that situation. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Ok Ok even a blind squirrel finds a nut, but Jenkins needs to be in the batters box for Mench in the 10th. 9 times out of 10 he doesn't hit a double in that situation.

Why can't the Crew find anyone better than Miller? He is old, washed up and clearly not motivated. His D is terrible and his O is worse. Sheesh...
