2007 Vent Thread, Part 4

saget

[ And I'd really like to attack this idea (though not the person(s)) that things are never as good or as bad as they appear to be. Not true at all. In baseball, if you're not in first then they are as bad as they appear to be--period. First place is why everyone plays. There is no motivation greater or more important. The Brewers are in first place, but will soon vacate that position. That they had a significant lead makes it even badder than it appears to be even among pessimists. So the current situation is by definition bad right now. The fact is, it would be easier to be the Pirates right now than the Brewers. False hope and false talent is much worse than being flat out bad. ]

To me, the emotion of falling out of first place to a team that's playing unbeatable baseball has no bearing on the fact that the Brewers still have a talented team that is capable of winning the division, and certainly the wildcard.

The Cardinals won the world series with a road record of 34-47.

I don't see your point, they won 83 games, that won't cut it to with the division this year. when you only need to win 83, it is fine as bad as they are on the road.

That being said Brian, I respect you positive side, as well as endeer's, I just wish that I could be that patient.

game thread tonight was about the most negative thing I've ever seen. Consider this my vent which means it should be in here

Fans are frustrated. The in-game threads have become extensions of the vent thread lately. It is understandable. An 8 1/2 game lead is down to 1 1/2. The Brewers have lost their best starter for 6 weeks, and most of the position players are struggling.

Hopefully, Ennder, in a few weeks when the Brewers are tearing the cover off the ball and enjoying a 7-game lead, you can say "See, I told you so!"http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

[ Well, of course every poster on here won't die if they don't make the playoffs, but does that really matter? This site is for Brewer fans, and if they end up blowing the division, it's the end of the world as far as sports go. ]

I'll say it again. It matters when that emotion causes people to treat each other with disrespect. That's not how we do things here.... particularly when people use terms like "stupid" and "foolish" (or pick any other derogatory adjective).

its not the end of the world if we miss the playoffs

It's not the end of the world. In the grand scheme of things this is low on the list of priorities for me but we had an 8.5 game lead in the division is it really too much to ask that we keep that lead?

And I'm 20, I've never seen the playoffs, I was 5 the last time the Brewers finished with a winning record. I'd kind of like the playoffs to happen, you know, soon.

Ok, the Braves won the division in 2005 (90 wins) with a 37-44 road record. If you want me to keep digging, I'm sure I could find some more.

It's not as infrequent as people would think.

Being 30 sucks so far.

Yeah, as I said to you before, your hopes of getting a long-term deal from the Brewers just went down the tubeshttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

But the Giants could still come knocking...

Mmm... cake.

Well what about a twinkie shake too? You only turn 30 once!

Can I vent about how I made the mistake of eating Taco Bell for lunch after weeks of quasi-healthy food? My body's not so young and forgiving anymore!

You do know the candles are going to explode and you're going to get cake all over your face and on the floor, right?

Oh yeah and shouldn't the post that I'm quoting right now go in the silver lining thread?http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Yeah I think I got food poisoning from McDonald's which is causing all the problems I'm having now.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

I could take that all so much more if it weren't the Cubs.

What bothers me the most is just that the Cubs seem to have the momentum and the swagger, and I'm starting to believe all the annoying sportscasters who have said, "The Brewers are inexperienced and they can be had". The Brewers have a much tougher schedule than the Cubs from here on out by sheer virtue of finishing the year against the Braves and the Padres. The Cubs finish at Florida and Cincinatti.

I'm just mostly annoyed that we don't seem to win games that we probably should. I know the Reds have more to them than meets the record, but would a split have killed us?

Right now things seem dark. I know this year has been a gift, but it almost seems like a tease to get this far and then watch it falter.

Pie > Cake

Well that depends on the Pie. Are we talking about Felix Pie the Cub?

Now everyone go wish the Automator a

happy birthday over on the Off-Topic board and take our minds off of the trainwreck that was the Brewers in Cincyhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Pie > Cake

I am very disappointed in you FTJ. I usually enjoy your posts for their thoughtfulness and insight. But no pie is greater than:Cheesecake, Chocolate Cheesecake, Chocolate Cherry Cake, Black Forest Tort (which I consider a cake).

There is no band (I've ever heard of) called "Pie" whereas Cake is a screaming fun band.

Nobody says, "you can't have your pie and eat it too".

If Pie is so great than why didn't Marie Antoinette let the peasants eat that?

Why isn't an easy task a "piece of pie?"

Why doesn't a rascally act "take the pie?"

You are clearly wrong. Your other posts however are pretty good.

(The above could have been written in blue to show that I did not mean this as a call out to FTJ, but for effect, I did not write it in blue. And I apologize to the whole forum for not truly venting with this post.)

Join the club or get in line or take a number. You will know the line when you see my parents....

Huh. you probably should raise that bar a little bit, if you are looking to my posts for thought or insight -- I am about on the same level as Larry King, or that seaweed guy on the infomercials.

I am not aware of any bands named Pie.

Cake's contribution to music will come and go, if it hasn't already. Pie's contribution to sexual innuendo will continue to entertain all until the endtimes.

But no pie is greater than:Cheesecake, Chocolate Cheesecake, Chocolate Cherry Cake, Black Forest Tort

Speaking strictly to the sciences...

Cheese Pie > Cheese Cake

Chocolate Cherry Pie > Chocolate Cherry Cake

Black Forest Pie > Black Forest Cake.

etc.

Nobody says, "you can't have your pie and eat it too".

Thats because you can have your pie and eat it too.

If Pie is so great than why didn't Marie Antoinette let the peasants eat that?

Well, duh -- Cake is for peasants, pie is for royalty.

Why isn't an easy task a "piece of pie?"

Because cake is easy. Pie requires much more.

Why doesn't a rascally act "take the pie?"

"rascally"? -- I am going to need you to stay on this side of the 19th century.

You are clearly wrong.

You are clearly insane.

Your other posts however are pretty good.

The ones I have the interns write aren't bad -- mine clearly suck.

(The above could have been written in blue to show that I did not mean this as a call out to FTJ, but for effect, I did not write it in blue. And I apologize to the whole forum for not truly venting with this post.)

I never post in blue -- I wouldn't expect you to either.

Very, very true. And the bar has once again sunk a little lower.

Well then, I guess I'm just bitter because somebody stole my pie after I ate it.

And the Royalty really came out a-head there. Ouch.

I will do my wassailing where I please, thank you very much.

Well insanity is really only used as a legal term, and so you are technically wrong for the next few hours until the jury comes out.
