2007 Vent Thread, Part 5

He might not be the one playing the games, but he's choosing the poor lineups, making the bad bullpen calls and making quizzical substitutions.

Poor line-ups? He gets criticized for playing Counsell and Graffanino, yet Weeks can't hit at all, and Hardy has been struggling. Bad bullpen calls? In the last two days these games have been coughed up using Cordero, Linebrink, Turnbow, and Villy. Who would you have him use? Once again, if the losses are on him, the wins are on him too. Which is it?

I don't really care if Yost gets fired but I'm just curious how your best RP's blowing games is his fault.

I agree. Yost can only use the players he has. Its Doug Melvin that continues with the dillusion that Turnbow is a good player. he has had numerous oppurtunities to move this rumy, but continues this fantasy that he is good. Hopefully he dumps him before another complete collapse from him.

Christ why is it that some posters on here just can't let people vent?
Why can't you let him make valid points? He's not criticizing the people who are saying, "Man, this road trip stunk! That was brutal!"

He's criticizing the people who are making outlandish claims like it was Yost's fault for the eighth inning today.

And you know what? There's still 2 MONTHS of the season left. 2 MONTHS! 2 MONTHS! Im going to keep saying it as if it could ever sink in

Yes, there's two months left. And since finishing April 17-9, this team has gone 40-40 in the near three months since.

This team has played one good month of baseball all season, has been the definition of mediocre since, and has been buoyed all season by being in the weakest division in all of baseball.

70 more? We have 56 games left. We're probably going to have to play 31-25 baseball or so to make the playoffs. So those that think this is just some bad "mini-stretch" need to put things in perspective. We also have more road games than home games left. But yes, everything is fine!!!

Let people blow off some steam. This last week has been one of the most frustrating in recent memory with how we've lost the games.

Where does that crazy old mustache wearing fella get the idea that a pitcher with 57 K in 45 innings has ANY place on a major league team? 1.16 WHIP? Attrocious. 8 scoreless outings in his last 10 before today? Get him outta here!

Make posts like that in the silver lining thread. He was quoting a post that said the Brewers would be in 2nd place very shortly. Does he need to come in and tell us there's 2 months left? No, because this team will be in 2nd place shortly with the way they're playing.

How about you read what he quoted. Doesn't seem so outlandish does it?

Quote:
That was BRUTAL today, did you see NED YOST allow 4 ER in 1/3 of an inning. Unbearable!

How about this quote from him? Was that really necessary? Give me a break.

So if they go .500 from here, they'll finish at 85 wins. Isn't that where we thought they'd be? I did, anyways. I sure didn't expect a 24-10 start.

This last week has been one of the most frustrating in recent memory with how we've lost the games.

Its also just not how they've lost, its that they've lost to terrible teams. Losing 3 of 4 to a last place team is unexcusable. Losing leads of 6-0 and 5-0 against a sub-.500 team is unexcusable.

Ned Yost and this team need to come to the realization that everything isn't just "okay".

His ERA is 4.30 and he has been abysmal at trying to strand inherited runners. His teamsmates have bailed him out of his messes numerous times. Simply, he hasn't been nearly as good as his 4.30 ERA, and you try to replace guys with a 4.30 ERA, especially when they had a 6.87 ERA the year before.

This is the low point of the season---worse than the no-hitter. Losing 6-0 and 5-0 leads on back-to-back days and allowing an 0-10 pitcher to get his first win is sickening. The Brewers were showing flashes of dominance, but took a sharp 180 this weekend.

Well, I would say this homestand is pretty big in terms of sticking with it, if they can put together something similar to those 9-1 and 8-1 homestands, we'll forget about this week and go forward.

Of course, if they have a losing homestand, which I think would be their first other than the 1-2 homestand against the Twins, then we have some issues.

Lets pretend that instead of starting 24-10, that the Brewers start 17-17. They hover around .500 until June 20. Then they go 24-10 and now they PASS the Cubs and are 1/2 game up. The records haven't changed. Would people be going nuts then?

So nike's quotes are out of hand, but not these?

lets please trade turnbow....hes useless....

And this is just one page back. Venting is one thing. Factually inaccurate claims are another. Also if you think the venting and craziness has been limited to the vent thread you're mistaken.

Hey buddy, I never mentioned his ERA.

Anyone who implies that a guy with a 1.16 WHIP HAS to be replaced, is just not a level-minded baseball fan.

This is all true, but I'm not sure we can just expect .500 ball the rest of the way. Since going 24-10, they've gone 33-39. Thats .4583, and would give them 82-83 wins on the seaon, which would not be tollerable.

i'm pretty sure its the vent thread where people can post their vents without people getting on them. if they are pissed at yost let them be pissed at yost, if they are pissed because we keep losing and are affraid of being out of first the let us be affraid. debate it in another topic, not this one

This team needs new leadership. It's not that Yost is a terrible manager (he's not) but it almost never happens for a franchise which has lost for some time under one manager to be able to completely turn it around under the same manager even when the talent has been significantly upgraded.

It just doesn't happen.

Maybe I was the only one watching yesterday when Turnbow couldn't find his ass with both hands and ended up getting lucky.

He's been awful this week. Just like Cordero.

I'd love to put this all on the offense, but they scored 5 Thursday, 6 yesterday, and 5 today. They should have had more, but that should be enough to win a major-league baseball game. The starting pitchers deserve some blame for being generally awful while pitching with leads, but the bullpen sucks right now.

And I agree. It's time for someone in a position of power with this team to admit that it's not okay. Something is wrong. If this team were at .500 right now after a hot start, changes would be made, and we shouldn't wait forever to start looking at what can be done to get a jumpstart...since you can't just off and fire all the players.

Wearing my heart on my sleeve since birth. Hopefully, it's my only crime.
