This is a big difference we all knew those teams we terrible, the thing we all had such high hopes for this year, especially the way they started, I for one am a person who would never boo the brewers, but after what i have seen happen i will, i am going to the game tomorrow and when they have the starting lineup and say when Rob Edwards says your Milwaukee Brewers manges by Ned Yost i will be booing and if they make a boneheaded play i will be booing, i never thought i would stay that, that is how mad i am.

this team has earned our respect

How? By constantly swinging for the fences like a bunch of bigshots, and only being able to score runs with solo homers? They lead the NL in HR by a good margin, yet are 6th in runs scored. Maybe it's the fact that we boast 4 starting pitchers who have an ERA near or above 5. Or perhaps some people are impressed by the Brewers ability to play little league calibur defense, while the rest of the league is actually able to execute simple fundamentals.

There is a lot of talent on this team, but I think they have a long way to go in earning respect as a solid baseball team.

Typical Brewers game . . . The starter can't even pitch 6 full innings. We get a bunch of solo homeruns and absolutely nothing else when there are runners on base and it matters. The bullpen coughs up a few extra runs that put the game way out of reach.

THIS CRAP IS GETTING SO OLD.

I really think Yost has lost the team. Look at the errors and the runners left on base. Whom do you blame? He may be the best guy in the world but he sure knows how to lose in the second half of the season. If you were in a debate class and you had to make a case for Yost, how could you possibly win? We have too much talent on this team for this to be happening, way too much. I have watched a lot of these guys work their way through Nashville and Huntsville, and none of them are getting better once they become pros. Even Braun, he was a better fielder when he was here. What is the reason? We need to do something to wake these guys up.

I umpire little league, and most coaches would yell at their teams for the defense the Brewers have been playing. But to look at the manager it looks like nothing is happening in the game.

Respect HAHA

Maybe we should Respect Their Record Lately :eight of their last 10 games overall and 19 of their last 28.

Maybe Respect the Brewers Bats:as the Brewers entered the game ranked third-from-last in the league with a .253 average with runners in scoring position.

Maybe Respect the Brewers in the Field:

The Brewers' four errors gave them 89 on the season, the third-highest total in the National League.

Or Maybe Respect their Starters :

left Brewers starters 1-10 with a 7.21 ERA in their last 18 games

so no they have not earned my respect having the worst road record among Division Leaders maybe if this team can get some heart and do a turn around in sept they will then earn my respect

BUT AS OF KNOW THIS TEAM DESERVES TO BE BOOED BY The Paying Fans.

2nd place feels nice. I feel 3rd coming soon too; wonder if that'll feel good.

Packer and Badger season is near, yay. Couldn't come sooner enough.

Team doesnt deserved to be cheered at all until they win. Maybe it will toughen these babies up for next season.

OK, Mr. Caps, et. al.

I didn't claim that this team's recent performance is worthy of respect. But the fact of the matter is, regardless of what has happened, this is the same team that had a 46-32 record and a 7.5 game lead in the division on June 27th. The same team. It's the middle of August and as bad as things have gone, the Brew Crew is still in it. This team has bought us closer to the Promise Land than any Brewers team in the last 15 years has but people seem determined to pretend they are as hopeless as the 2002 team and treat them as worthy of scorn. Well, things may be going badly right now, but I don't buy it. They have played well and they are in second place as of August 17th: regardless of what has happened recently, they have earned respect which they are not getting.

That's not to say that that is good enough. The fans of this team have waited too long.

Again, this is the vent thread and I'm as angry as anyone at their recent play because they have played terribly and I know things can be better. We should all know they can play better, because they have. But that's not to say that they deserve the garbage they've received, only the garbage they've earned. Which, relatively, is not a lot.

I'm still incredibly upset and disappointed, but come on...there's no dignity in a dogpile.

By simply reminding everyone that Ned Yost does not pitch, play all four infield spots, all 3 outfield spots, and that he doesn't bat himself 1-9 every night.

Look at errors & runners lob? In what way does that fall squarely at the feet of Yost (if at all)? I'm all for being frustrated, and sure - be ticked at Yost (leaving SP in too long - a BIG problem imho), but at least find something for which he's actually responsible!

In all professional contexts, managers are ultimately held responsible for the performance of those working under them. Sometimes it's unfair, especially if you have a bunch of incompetent employees, but that's the nature of the beast.

And if you're willing to buy into this kind of blanket absolution, then the manager means nothing. In which case, let's get rid of Yost, and let Jenks be player/coach. Hey, we're a small market club, it never hurts to stretch our dollars.

Not really a vent but I wasn't sure where to put this. I'd like to get mad at this but I can't.

"It was one of those days where you get lucky," Arroyo said. "Through seven, it was probably the easiest start I've had all year. They were being really aggressive and I was getting lucky and getting outs." Arroyo said that in the past, the Brewers had shown patience at the plate. Not in this one. "Tonight it seemed like everybody top-to-bottom was swinging at one of the first two pitches and putting the ball into play," he said.

from the reds website:

Griffey again rounded the bases in the seventh inning of the Reds' 8-3 win over the Brewers on Friday. However, the only fitting highlight music would be the theme from Benny Hill. It came on a fielder's choice play with two Milwaukee throwing errors. "I'm counting that one as 591, even if they don't," Griffey joked. "That was straight Little League."

Fittingly, the Little League World Series was airing on the clubhouse television nearby.

Just embarrassing.

I'm prettty tired of all the "talent"-based arguments. The Brewers have better players than they've been used to having in quite some time. These players are young, came up together, won in the minors and created some expectations for the fans well before they even arrived in the big leagues.

But now that they're here, I think we need to take a pretty hard look at exactly what these guys are. Not saying they're not good players. But I think it's a bit delusional to think this lineup can just roll out there and beat most other NL teams on physical talent alone. Just look at last night's game. The Reds strike fear into nobody, but can anybody really say that the talent gap is so great that the Brewers should just win 75% of the season series with the Reds by just playing to their statistical averages? Overall, the talent gap, to the extent that it exists, is not that great, and in fact you can probably make the argument that the Brewers aren't even the most talented team in this least- talented division of the weaker league in MLB.

I think you can make a fair, if not exactly point-for-point, comparison between this year's Brewers and last year's Reds, in terms of the big picture of talent, production and an extensed season in which individual abilities do not always translate into long-term winning baseball.

I do kind of wonder if we need to reevaluate a couple of the young guys, and what we can expect out of them. Rickie Weeks would be target number one for me. I know he's been injured and everything, but at some point he's either going to be a quality everyday starting 2B, or he isn't. Time is getting short here.

You make it sound like they're out of contention. Things are bad rright now and may well get worse but this team has earned our respect.
They lost all my respect on one play last night. Well, most of it anyway.

I completely understand that, but even before last night some fans are just on another level of crazy-angry. We're all frusturated and pissed off at the team's performance, but I'm disappointed that after how poorly the Brewers have been the past couple of years and the team still being in contention, people would abandon them now.

That's my vent. And "that play" from last night. That has to be rock bottom.
