2007 Vent Thread, Part 6

adambr2
I kinda feel bad for the Brewer fans that actually attended this series in Denver. And it sounded like alot of them were there while watching games on TV Monday & Tuesday. I really can't say for sure about Wednesday, since there was absolutely nothing worth cheering for.

Third place and 82-80 wouldn't be a bad progression from where we've been, would it?

I think this would get Ned fired all the same. I don't think that blowing an 8.5 game lead, playing 12 games under .500 over the last 120-something games, and playing embarrassing ball on the road for the duration of the season would be perceived as acceptable progress.

I am not saying that it's just, in an absolute sense; I'm just saying that Ned would probably take the fall for it.

I hate hearing the stupid Cubs announcers call Zambrano "Big Z". I just cant stand it for some reason. Everytime they say it I want to rip my ears off.

Instead, just smile as he got torched tonight.

Is there anyone and I mean ANYONE that thinks we will turn it around whatsoever on the road? If so, please give me your evidence now.

It will be the blown late games and the road record that keep us out of the playoffs, and really with our start, no matter how early, missing the playoffs this year is ABSOLUTELY AND POSITIVELY INEXCUSABLE!!

There needs to be repercussions if this continues. Make it a half season at 9 games under .500.

I had to work late today and missed both games. I'm am very disappointed. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/mad.gif

Mostly, I am angry at myself that I was not listening to Santo tonight. There is just something about his wailing and gnashing after every play when the Cubs trail that gives me a this really strange sensation somewhere between pity and an oddly euphoric gratification. Particlarly when he speaks in broken sentences and starts banging into things in the booth. "Oh no! (thump). We're never gonna...This is the kinda thing that...(thump)...GEEEZ...(mumbled expletive!!!)...(thump-thump). How long can Milwaukee leave the door open? ...Can't just walk through...now walk the pitcher...oh MAN I just...and he...(thump)...we're never (thump) gonna...THAT way (thump)...oh MAN NO! Thats gotta...(thump)"

I know it sounds sick, but I actually saved this on my XM Radio, played it back & transcribed it back here. I'm sorry, I can't help it. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/roll.gif

I just save the ones when they lose. Some of the Santo tantrums actually make me laugh so hard I cry. I hope that desn't make me a sadist. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/embarassed.gif

Why does Ned still think Villanueva can give him more than one inning?

Why did Ned go to Spurling after Villanueva crapped out? The game still appears to have been close at the time of the change.

Is Turnbow hurt? Did Linebrink's wife go into labor again? Is Parra dead? Did Ned realize that tomorrow is an off day?

I didn't look for anything from Ned postgame, so I guess I am left with questions and no answers for now. Thanks.http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif

I dunno if this is just a vent or an actual question so I'll answer it. Turnbow most likely was the 'closer' for tonight so in Ned's world that makes him unavailable. Linebrink pitched back to back days and most likely was not available. Parra isn't any more reliable than Spurling in that situation. Villanueva has gone for more than 1 IP effectivley 16 times this season. I'd have just gone with Turnbow but you guys make way too big a deal about the bullpen usage (not pointing at you personally Bruce). The fanbase seems to think that all the RP's can throw 100 games a year or something without worrying about being overworked.

It was a vent and a question, if that's possible.

I'm pretty sure I was still wearing a jacket to work in the morning the last time Villy was seriously reliable. He was great earlier, but his ERAs over 11 since the break with few signs of life or an imminent turnaround.

Parra's no more reliable than Spurling because he's been given one chance to be reliable. I mean, if we can't use the guy ever because of concerns about his workload, then why is he here?

Villanueva gave up a wall scraper to Berkman who guessed changeup, got it, and lifted a fly ball that barely got out. He had the third out of the inning with the Brewers only down one but that lame excuse for an umpire missed that call too.

When Yost brought in Spurling, the game was over. Yost much not pay attention to what happens when Spurling pitches. That he pitched a scoreless inning Friday was more luck than anything because Lane hit a pitch much farther than Berkman hit Villanueva's yesterday but it happened to be in the deepest part of the park.

It's easy to make predictions like that. If you're right you try and look like you're the only one who thought it, if you're wrong you can say it's ok because the Brewers won.

Vent: aside from that Braun 3-run homer against Houston, nothing has been going right for the Brewers for sometime.

Shut Rickie Weeks down for the year. If he is hurt, let him heal. If he isnt hurt, he should be in AAA, or firmly planted on the bench.

How does he swing at that same low and away slider so much? It's gets thrown to him constantly and he whiffs at it constantly,i can't remember seeing a hitter get schooled by the same pitch as often has Weeks gets owned by that slider.

As long as we are all venting, why is Bill Hall getting a free ride? He has suddenly become really boring this season. He hits so many lazy fly balls now. It's getting really dull.

When is this team going to have a great start to a game and actually win the game? I would like to vent my specific frustrations about this team but can't narrow my list of targets to a reasonable number. So I guess I will just say that this team presently sickens me to the point of nausea and that takes a lot. The pitching (starters and bull pen)stinks right now and the offense has been disgustingly inconsistent. Nothing seems to make me feel better about this team even though they are incredibly young and won't peak for a few years. The twelve pack of Blatz Light in the fridge is my only solace. Later.
