Right now we can't do much worse than Chris Capuano. There aren't many solid options to replace him with, but something must be done. Villanueva would probably benefit from a move to the rotation. I think a starter's rest would do wonders for his recent struggles. Parra could probably take a couple of his starts. Zack Jack is also an option. He'd probably get pounded but maybe to a lesser extent than Capuano. I might be sick if they trot Capuano out there for another inevitable loss.

someone has to be better than a guy who gone 0-16 in his starts

That 0-16 inclues

7 IP, 2 ER

7 IP, 2 ER

7 IP, 2 ER

8 IP, 1 ER

It also includes a start he left with an injury.

The whole 0-16 in his last 16 starts things is silly, he's had a poor year but at least key in on things that he can control. Complain about how he has pitched over that stretch sure, but the streak is meaningless.

In July he had a 5.45 ERA and .771 OPS against which isn't that great(though the ERA was LOB% driven with that OPS), in August he's been better than our team ERA/OPS so hard to fault him more than anyone else.

It's mildly amusing that Cappy's ERA is better than the team ERA this month. Somewhat points to the fact that he isn't doing much worse than anyone else, he's just not getting the W's to prove it.

Something else to point out is that last week the Marlins were 0-13 in Dontrelle's last 13 starts. Granted he hasn't been as good this year as he has been in the past, and granted Cappy isn't really D-Train, it just goes to show that sort of streak can happen to anyone. And I don't really think the Marlins were considering removing Willis from the rotation.

I didn't look at the in-game thread and don't know if it was brought up there. Skimming through today's postings here I didn't see it mentioned and I can't believe it wasn't. Please tell me I'm not the only person upset about this. I realize he's our MVP guy and has 38 HRs and all, but Fielder's 3rd and 5th ABs were completely inexcusable. 5th inning, runner on 1st (2nd?), He's ahead in the count 2-0 and then he swings at 3 pitches outside of the strike zone!!!??! You would think he would learn from that. No. Comes up in the 9th, with the tying run on 2nd. Again 2-0 count and he swings at a pitch outside the zone. Then it goes 3-1 and he swings at a pitch away to ground out weakly. Prince, you have a very capable hitter behind you. Let them walk you if they want to! AAAHHHRGGH!!!

User in-game thread post in 1st inning of 3rd game of the 2022 season: "This team stinks"

I got double burned on this game.I was gone and got back with a friend almost right after Fielder made it 5-0.So i tell my friend as he walks in,good news the Brewers are winning 5-0 in the bottom of the 3rd.He asks me who is pitching,i tell him Capuano,he says right away,we'll lose,to many innings left.

Like a dummy i ask if he wants to bet,he says sure, how about 10 bucks. Now i should be the one feeling confident, but bam Dunn homers right away in the 4th,my buddy just laughs and says, see i told you,the collapse has started. He leaves before the 6th so i didn't have to sit here watching that smart ass grin on his face, but of course once the game ended and the phone rang,i didn't have to guess who it was.

Big mistake assuming simple odds would say we could eventually hold a big early lead.In the future,i'll need an 8 run lead before even considering a bet.

Next time we blow an 8-0 lead I know who to blame.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the alternative to Cappy really is, at this point. And, given the vagaries of W/L records, I'm not sure it's entirely fair to judge him strictly by that streak of losses.

This could be a ghastly road trip. Four wins would be a moral triumph, I think.

I hope everyone heard me on the WSSP postgame show. I was Dan from Hartland. I went nuts. Said I'd rather have Davey Nelson manage than Yost.

So that was you. I enjoyed your call. I was hoping Yost said Capuano pitched great because I wanted to hear Tim blow up.http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/laugh.gif

Finding a generator for these sorts of things made me feel better. Not to pick on Cappy, but he has awesome expressions:

This team has no heart and no leadership. I'm sick of wasting my time and money going to games and seeing them blow big leads, poor management, lack of hustle, no sense of urgency. Someone needs to get in here, replace Yost and light a fire under this team. Too many people not hustling, not taking pitches, leaving pitchers in way to long. It's too frustrating. I went to about 20 games this year and I can't remember the last game they actually won. I'm done going to games this year and if Yost is back next year I'm not renewing my 20-pack of season tickets. This team could be so good with the talent they have on this team. Everyone says its a long season, well since June, they have flat out sucked. The NL Central is terrible and there is no reason that the Brewers could still have a double digit lead in this division. Yost kept on saying, it'll be allright we're still in first, well we're not anymore and we're getting worse. A 1-5 homestand against the top two division rivals, this team doesn't deserve anything, especially going to the Playoffs to be embarrased.
