This team again had the division handed to them by the Cubs and what happens the team and Manager come out with the worst two games . Absoulty pathethic and like i did this team does not deserve to be divison champs. Putruid Performance and Braun fielding is getting worse by the minute.

I know the situation at which to point tonight was the bottom of the 5th, but McClung and Spurling before Linebrink? Chalk up another "Gee I hope this works out" decision.

So basically we have found out that Sveum is in fact just as bad as Yost or Yost was in the hall way making the decisions again tonight. Either way I cannot fathom how McClung and especially Spurling can continue to pitch with the season on the line. Spurling is basically the worst pitcher on the staff which is really saying something yet he continues to pitch important innings. A guy that we DFA'd and no other team wanted is pitching in crucial situations while our prized acquisition Linebrink sits in the bullpen waiting for the score to be completely out of hand before being used. Also nice to see Joe Thatcher pitch. Certainly looks more impressive than every pitcher in our bullpen with the possible exception of Cordero. Speaking of Cordero its a good thing we havent used him all week until tonight when he was brought in to help keep the deficit at 4 in the ninth inning. This entire coaching staff with the possible exception of Skaalen needs to be replaced on monday morning. I also hope that Melvin wakes up because he has been awful since last offseason.

I thought we got better after last year, but this team still cannot make a play on a bunt.

Twice the Padres tried to give us an out. Twice we didn't get one.

Twice the Padres scored 4 runs that inning.

Terrible.

I guess maybe there is something to that "pitching and defense wins championships" theory.

Our defense has been sub-par all year, and the middle of our bullpen has stunk up the joint in the second half. That's a recipe for disaster.

I don't have any way to qualify this statement, but down the stretch it's felt like our team has been chasing the playoffs like how Animal chased women. No plan, no tangible goal, just "PLAYOOOFFFFFSSSS!"

WOMAAANNNN!

bklynbrewcrew, do you ever have anything to add besides your hatred of the coaching staff? we get it you don't like them, move on. Have you seen there bullpen lately? I have no problem bringing Mcclung or Spurling in. Who would you have rather had? The great turnbow, or better yet Wise, wait, how about Aquino. I thought it sucked to see thatcher pitch decent against us. Nice trade

I was at the game last night, and boy, what a frustrating evening. I was hoping to cheer them to an 82nd win, but between the bad defense, and bad start by Gallardo, it just wasn't the Brewers' night.

At least we're getting to relive that magical '05 season, and see if the team can break .500, I guess.

brouhard, last time I checked this was the venting thread. I have vented on more things than just Ned Lost though. I put a lot of blame on Doug Melvin for this mess of a bullpen and think he has done a terrible job since last offseason. I also think even less of this Linebrink trade after watching Thatcher pitch against us. Yes there are many places to place blame but Ned Lost needs to lose his job.

But if Weeks can improve is D, then maybe Braun can to.

Weeks and Braun are different players at different positions -- I remain optimistic -- but their efforts/successes/failures are independent.

I know, Im just saying it is possible to improve your defense with lots of work.

Seriously, the Cubs got swept by the last-place Marlins at a point where they could least afford to be swept, and the Brewers--at home--picked up only one lousy game.

These guys just find new ways to torture us this year.

You are so right. And I liked you comment about the Brewers taking advantage of the Cubs curse. We continue to let the Cubs off the hook for losing games when they shouldn't. The Cubs won't win this division. The Brewers are losing it.

Anyone still think Ryan Braun won't end up as a LF'er?

Wow he's actually worse than when I saw him in AZ...brutal.

Yost should still leave him in when the game is in the balance though because the kid can mash.

Yeah I could see him as a LF. But if Weeks can improve is D, then maybe Braun can to. We shall see next year I guess.

The Fans have every right to boo a terrible performance by a player or for that matter the whole team.

This team no matter how terrible on the road they were and how many blow Leads and how Many Times we been Yosted still have a chance to win out at home where they had the best record and still Catch the Cubs. But this team proved again they are not ready to take the next step. Melvin has some very important work to do this offseason.
