2007 Vent Thread, Part 8

Brewer Fever

First time in my life I ever left a game early in Miller Park (top of 8, after Turnbow BB). I just couldn't take any more of the craptititude. This team was in control of the NL central for most of the year. Play a majority of their games against terrible opponents. Had a HUGE FREAKING head start. Have TWO mvp-level players on offense. The fact that they're going to let the Cubs smuggly waltz into the playoffs is beyond comprehension to me and absolutely unacceptable. Barely 81 wins? This team is a joke and is super-lucky to be "in contention" for anything other than third place in a "normal" league. We still suck, and maybe we always will.

Another season of pedestrian-or-worse play from a team I keep investing thousands of dollars in. Kiss my asphalt.

EDIT: Oops, I said "league" and meant "division". d'oh.....

Amen! The goal is the World Series and they pissed it away. The pitching was unacceptable.

Now that's venting. Nice job.

Sometimes, I wish you wouldn't hold back so much.

Actually, I wasn't positive. Just because Ned has used McClung in close games numerous times this month. I don't get it.

OK. I hit your 3 hole hitter, knowing your 4,5,6 hitters will be coming up to drive him in?

LaRussa had this whole thing figured out. The only reason he whined Tuesday was to fire his team up. Then he hits Prince "as retaliation". He played Ned like a fiddle. He knew he could bait him in.

Silver lining: Maybe Ned will be suspended for the last few games and we can win a close game or two.

Wow. Getting dragged down into a bean-ball war with a team that's out of contention. Probably the stupidest, and definitely the most childish thing our manager has done yet. When it comes to being a buffoon, Ned never disappoints. What a fitting nail in the coffin of our season.

Not to mention most petty and most undiscipline action. Yost is behaving like a thug/hoodlum, rather than a manager trying to win a crucial game. Pujols is right, Yost's "managing" tonight has cost us this crucial game.

Honestly, if Sveum can't tell that Turnbow doesn't have it (he was throwing like 94 with no location on the breaking ball), I'd rather have 'ole Ned in there. Sveum was Royster-esque tonight.

Confusing that you can watch that guy throw that many balls in a row and not pull him before he walks a guy in.

Every single time you bring him in, have somebody else that can throw strikes, warming up.

Tonight might be the stupidest episode of managing we've seen yet.

Turnbow's my 8th-inning guy! WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP SAYING THAT I'M MAKING MISTAKES! THEY'RE NOT MISTAKES, MY DECISIONS JUST HAVEN'T WORKED OUT SOMETIMES! http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/mad.gif

TooLiveBrew, I love that that picture looks like Ned just rolled some invisible dice. Fitting. (Or he's flipping off his shoes for causing him to walk out to the mound for an ill-advised pitching change?)

I posted in the Ned thread about the beaning of Pujols. If Pujols really called him out like that after the game, awesome. Someone needs to play that on a continuous loop for Doug and Mark A.

Seriously though....HOW THE HELL DOES TURNBOW WALK MIGUEL FREAKING CAIRO AND KELLY FREAKING STINNETT?? Really? You couldn't just go right after those guys? I don't care if they hit the ball out of the damn park, you have to pitch to guys like that. And why in the world would you leave Turnbow after walking Cairo when it was obvious to the entire world and any hypothetical life in outer space that he had completely lost his control?!

Gaah. If this team hasn't already made me a legal alcoholic, I'll be there after tonight.

Brian, we all know managers go far enough up the ramp to the clubhouse to be out of sight. There is no way that Sveum made any decisions tonight. Ned was telling them what to do all along.

Just venting about the "People with more control that Turnbow" thread getting locked.

It was a vent. But that was pretty funny too.

It probably would've been cool in the vent thread, and we already have one for venting purposes. I guess the initial post could be taken as ripping on someone's physical handicap. The rest were good, though, and I'd like to add...

Because that's what Turnbow does.

If we had a competent manager who understood this, there would have been a pitching change. I mean, every person in Milwaukee knew he would walk in a run. But the guys who are paid to be experts couldn't see the red flags. They just kept him in there.

That's why we aren't going to the postseason.

He did, I saw it. He said he knew he was going to get hit and that it was the managers mistake that cost the game, yadda yadda.
