2007 Vent Thread, Part 8

Brewer Fever

Capuano had at least 4 games in the 16 game stretch where he pitched at least 7 innigs and gave up 2 or fewer runs and they still lost. Vargas has been really lucky this year and Cappy very unlucky.

I am still angry about this game. The only thing that kept me from throwing things across the room was my kids. I didn't want to set a bad example and it would have scared my 2 year old. This whole series the umps called everything close against us. Even the plays that were not close went against us. This loss in this postions is the biggest load of crap I have ever seen. I hope the umpires are held accountable. Of course, Ibelieve, most of that stuff is done behind closed doors so even if there are ramifications we will never hear about it.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Part of tonight's new episode of The Simpsons took place in Chicago, and they showed at least two characters wearing cubs caps.

I know it's just coincidence, but I really didn't need any more reminders - not tonight. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/frown.gif

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

This sub-specie of fan on this site has been ominously quiet lately... then again, I've been avoiding the IGTs and Vent Thread like the plague.

I have been internally waffling more than Belgium and flip flopping more than Reef since I wrote this way way back in the year...

"I will be a Ben Sheets detractor until we see 20 wins in a season, or 2 in a single playoff series"

...but it is never more applicable then now. He had his chance to be the horse, and he could have even fulfilled the latter of my personal benchmark metric. Were we asking too much to make 6 starts in a pennant race?

And all of the depression laced quotes he hands out to the paper about letting the team down et al better show up around contract time: say $3M base + $400,000 for each win. That's how you're going to earn $11M from the Brewers Ben.

This isn't good:

"In the previous 12 seasons of the wild-card era, there hasn't been a single team that was more than 1½ games out of a playoff spot with a week left in the season and came back to make the playoffs. Not one."

[source: Losing Bradley would be a big blow for Padres]

And I'm with you on the Sheets stuff, TauPentaRei.

Anybody else annoyed with that g.d. little happy hop that Soriano does every time he catches a fly ball? I noticed that new african american outfielder for the astros did that as well. So freaking annoying. He just did it with the Cubs losing early, a couple of Marlins on base and only 1 out. Just catch the ball and throw it in. Keep your cockiness to yourself, especially when your team is losing....arseclown!

african american

Why does this matter

I didn't want anybody to think I meant Pence, I mean the other rookie outfielder. Should have just said other rookie outfielder not named Pence, but african american was quicker to write. Sry if I offended anyone.

Wow. Getting dragged down into a bean-ball war with a team that's out of contention. Probably the stupidest, and definitely the most childish thing our manager has done yet. When it comes to being a buffoon, Ned never disappoints. What a fitting nail in the coffin of our season.

Albert Pujols: "Once they brought that kid in there I knew they were going to hit me. It's the managers fault and that cost them four runs so I'm happy about that."

It was something along those lines. Disgusting Ned, get your ass out of town, nobody wants you here, you suck!

Was that an actual quote? If so, wow, that's really calling out an opposing manager.
