2007 Vent Thread, Part 8

Brewer Fever
I expect a big bounceback year from Cappy next season. I mentioned in an earlier thread that Capuano hasn't pitched nearly as bad as his numbers suggest, and I still maintain that feeling. He's given up more hits than the last 2 seasons, but I feel that has a lot to do with the porous infield defense the Brewers have. If they are able to shore that up next year, Capuano should repeat his 05 and 06 form.

The dude won today as far as I'm concerned.

Today, yes. He pitched fine. However, there is something wrong when your designated Number 2 pitcher pitches in 21 straight losses. Is that a small sample size? Is that crazy Vegas odds? What is going on with that?

Capuano probabaly should have won at least 5 of those games in there, I can't blame one pitcher who was mostly killed by the defense, the overshift and an injury.

Capuano also was not really a #2 pitcher, I was hopeful he'd grow into a #3 but he has mostly been a #4 in his career. Gallardo/Villaneuva are our best shots at a true #2/#3 type.

I'll say what I've said before...I'd seriously take a 75-87 season with a 10-24 beginning over this one at this point.

I'm absolutely gutted, and for the condescending, self-entitled Cubs' fanbase to take the division (it's only been four years since they were last in the playoffs, they're suffering sooooo bad!) makes it that much worse.

I hate baseball with a passion right now, and this season is going to sear until next April.

This is truly the most frustarting season that I have ever seen as a Brewers fan. Most years the team just didnt have the talent to compete and that was bad enough. This year is far different. We should have won 90 games in this division with the talent that we possess. This team has greatly underachieved and Yost must be gone because of that.

Besdies that, you know what else killed me today: seeing the Cubs laughing when the scoreboard showed the Brewers losing. You stay classy Chicago.

I don't know how much to blame Nedly for this season. If I'd blame any one person, it'd be Capuano.

I am far more disappointed in Sheets and Bill Hall than I am with Cappy. And, to be honest, I kind of respect Cappy for how he's pitched these past couple of games -- he sucked it up, went out there, and did pretty well. (And you can't possibly hang today's loss on him, can you? Dude gave up one run in 5 IP.)

The really sad thing about this season is I'm not going to be able to look at it and say things like "Well, they had a good run, finished over .500, and almost won the division", with an optimistic eye towards next year. The only thing I feel right now (concerning baseball) is absolute disappointment that this team blew an 8 1/2 game lead, leads the major leagues in come from ahead losses (when winning by 3 or more runs to boot), and has a franchise ace who can't stay off the DL for more than 2 months at a time.

There's a lot to look forward to, no doubt, but right now that's little solace as the Brewers just pissed not what could have or might have been, but what should have been a playoff season, right down their legs.

were they really laughing at the Brewers or did you see something out of context? just wondering as I was not watching the Cubs' game.

Ya, the few times I swapped over the WGN, I happened to catch a couple of Soriano's "hopping catches" and that. Made me regret taking at peek at WGN. I haven't watched many of the Cubs games in detail, is this Soriano hop a new development?

No he's done it all year. What really got me pissed/depressed was the bleacher bums doing the Tomahawk Chop when the scoreboard at Wrigley showed the Braves took the lead.http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/mad.gif

Brewer fans would've done the same thing, had roles been reversed -- but it still tasted like burning. It must be a little comical from an outsider's perspective (especially a rival) to see the team's inability to hang on to leads, which is why we are where we sit today. Again, that said, I wanted to pull out every single visible tooth of Murton's & Soriano's today. It's really shocking to me that I haven't let out a huge "AAARRGHHHH!" of frustration yet. Perhaps the phrase "ticking time-bomb" applies here.

Not only did the annoucners say that the Braves-Brewer score was on the scoreboard, they showed it on TV, and the next shot was of Soriano and some else looking and laughing at it. I guess I just expect that behavior from Cub fans. Like I said, you stay classy.

Steve Phillips just said on Baseball Tonight that "Rickie Weeks missed the tag." What?!?!?

thats just stupid. He made the tag on the shouler, and even so, an ump calls the runner out 99-100 times there.

yep, but this just happened to be that 1 time. I can see why he called him safe, though. If Rickie got him, he barely brushed him. I'll give credit to the runner for doing his best to avoid the tag, acting or not, out or safe.

Still sucks, though.
