CoCo's definitely making his impending departure this offseason a lot easier to take. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Tough loss this afternoon. Still some time left, but the Cubs need to start freaking losing.

Why would you be angry at Hall? Because his 10th inning hit with a runner on 2nd was hit too hard to score the runner?

He didn't get that bunt down. Granted, he shouldn't have been bunting to begin with, but he didn't get it down.

When Hall didn't get that bunt down was the point at which I was the most upset today. Throwing things angry, almost. I didn't completley agree with him bunting, but he was a windmill his first few at bats so I somewhat, kind of, understand that.

CoCo has not been solid all year. He has blown more than his share of leads, including at least 2 multi run leads with one out to go. Still, he is our best reliever and that kind of points out just how pathetic our bulpen really is.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

name one closer that has not done that? .... ill wait for your answer

so if coco stinks then why even keep him next season and just let turnbow close then hu?

Give it a rest, if a closer out there never loses games or gives up run I can promise you they will never be in a brewers uni

There are bigger issues like that lack of scoring with RISP that is more of an issue then cocos one run HR

Yeah, just that one homer...

Coco deserves the blame as much or more than anyone today.

Coco's job is to close the game whether it's 1 run, 3 runs, or 10 runs. He didn't do his job today, and relatively it's no different than a starter going out and giving up six or seven earned runs in a few innings' work. Maybe worse. Yeah, it's a big burden. And that's not to say Coco hasn't had a good year, or that these things don't happen. But to give up a tying homer to Scott freaking Thorman at a point in the game and the season when we really needed it least was a huge failure on his part.

It wasnt the run that killed us, it was week's error that did it.
Weeks' error doesn't happen if Coco doesn't serve up a meatball to a .218 PH. Neither does Miller's pants-wetting in the 11th for that matter.

Why are people trying to diminish the home run?

Weeks' error also doesn't happen if they get the run in with a man on 3rd and 1 out. Or if they get a couple runs with the bases loaded and a base hit. That's the thing with this team. There's usually many offenders in their losses.

So many people to blame for yesterday's loss.....Cordero w/ the blown save, Rickie back to playing Rickie-defense, Yost allowing (calling for) Counsell's ill-conceived bunt attempt with a guy on 3rd and 1 out. The last one is especially frustrating, because it was something controllable. Ned has been pretty good about playing the match-ups of late with his pinch-hitters (like in Friday night's chess match w/ Cox), yet yesterday he inexplicably decides to let lefty Counsell (.156 vs lefties) face Ring when he has Mench (.322 vs lefties) and Joe Dillon (.556 vs lefties) on his bench. Even if Cox pulls Ring immediately for another righty (which I doubt he would, but who knows?), the odds are still much better with either of those two guys at the plate compared to the match-up that played out. Then to make things worse, he allows him to repeatedly attempt bunts, even w/ two strikes on him!!! I'll grant Counsell has had some big hits this year in tight spots, but this one is hard to defend. A little consistency please Ned!!! The only consistency Ned has shown has been his ability to make bad decisions (or non-decisions) at crucial times. This one may have cost them the game, and probably the season. Yes, despite his ineptitude (yet again) the Crew still should've won, but Cordero allowed that .216 hitting scrub to take him deep. Equally inexcusable. And one last thought regarding late game defensive substitutions: I usually don't mind Braun being pulled late with a lead as he has been pretty brutal in the field all season long, but for the past month plus Rickie has been the worst defensive player on the team (again). I don't have the numbers to back it up, but it seems that Braun has actually improved of late while Rickie has regressed to being the terrible fielder we've come to know and hate. With Counsell's ability to play anywhere west of 1B, the recognition of this trend might actually lead one to think that subbing for Rickie would be the right move. I'm nitpicking I know (what can I say, I hate Yost), but I still think it's a point worth making. And finally, the decision to pitch Capuano today in an absolute must-win game because he's "had success vs the Braves in the past" is just another example of cluelessness.....you would think Ned would understand by now that what Capuano did "in the past" (=before his 20 game losing streak) should have absolutely no bearing on what he does now. He's a jinx, a loser, good-bye and don't let the door hit you in the a_ _ on the way out! Vargas isn't a much better option, but he looked good vs the Astros earlier this week so why not give him a chance? Or Parra for that matter.....anybody but Capuano. Of course if our "ace" wasn't as brittle as my late grandmother, it would be a different story.....

I give the Crew credit for an exciting season and staying in the race when a month ago it looked like they were ready for a nosedive, but unfortunately they will fall a bit short. Despite the popular notion that "the Cubs will choke," "they're the Cubs, they're losers," etc, it's not going to happen. Their competition is just too bad the rest of the way for them to collapse. I hope a week from now I am eating crow, but let's face facts......the season is over. The three culprits for this season, yet another without post-season baseball, are (you pick the order, I give you mine):

1) Yost; bad decisions all year long cost the Crew wins, plain & simple. Credit where credit is due, good decisions were made too, but vastly outweighed by the poor ones. Unfortunately a winning record (barely) will be seen as progress and he'll probably be back.

2) Sheets; enough with this guy already. If they can get something for him in the off-season, they better do it. He's gone after next year anyways and we know he can't be relied on. Sure, he'll probably pitch 3 straight healthy seasons for the Yankees and win a Cy Young, but that's life. His fragility is as big a reason for the Brewers downfall as any.

3) Youth; maybe it's too simple an explanation, but the Brewers' road woes are probably largely due to the youth of the team, especially when contrasting it with their fantastic home record. A half-dozen or so more wins on the road next year and we're in the catbird seat. Ahhhhhh, next year.....a familiar sentiment this time of year for Brewer fans.

There's my rant, I welcome your comments. Looking forward to watching the Pack try and beat the Chargers later today (though I think their undefeated bubble will be burst). Talk at y'all next season!!
