Wet Hot American Summer

Just saw this for the first time last night, wasn't real impressed, but there were some very funny parts...

I think this is a movie that you had to enjoy at the time it came out to really get it.

These might not be for everyone as they are foreign films, but I can't speak highly enough of Tillsammans and Klown.

Tillsamans, which means "together" in English, is a Swedish movie about a commune in Stockholm. The closest style of movie that most Americans would be familiar with would be the Christopher Guest movies such as Spinal Tap, Best in Show, etc. So if you are a fan of that style, check it out. You can tell there is a lot of improvising and most of the humor is not lost in translation. It has a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Klown is Danish. I most often hear it described as a Danish Curb Your Enthusiasm. I don't totally see the comparison, but the main character always seems to get into Larry David like situations. To me the character seems a bit more childish than Larry. Klown is also a tv series and available on Netflix, so give an episode a try if you are a Curb fan or just looking for something a bit different.

Dirty Work.

Absolutely! This movie makes me cry from laughter every time I see it. Some great minor appearances in this movie as well from Farley, Chevy Chase and especially Don Rickles.

Rickles was great:

"So there you are, tubby. Look like a bucket of lard on a bad day. You baby gorilla. Why don't you work in a zoo, and stop bothering people? Got a call yesterday from Baskin Robbins. They said that they're down to only five flavors. You're swelling up as I talk to you."

Every time my wife eats ice cream, I have to fight the urge to speak directly to her stomach and say, "Hello, ice cream! Having a good time?"

Another great moment is when Pops reveals himself to be Mitch's dad via photographic evidence. "Did Sam's mom know you we're cheating on her?" To which Pops replies, "Of course! Who do you think took the picture?"

Also, this movie was Chris Farley's last, and I believe it was the directorial debut for Bob Saget.

Bandits.

Not a true comedy, but it never got big reviews, I still catch something new every time I watch it, and laugh my tail off. Billy Bob Thornton was great in it.

The Whole Nine Yards was great as well.

Spy Hard!

The smell of sewage in the morning. I love it!

EDIT: Actually I think that quote is from one of the Naked Gun movies. It's Leslie Nielsen though, how can you go wrong?

Pretty sure thats from The Naked Gun 2 (or whatever its called). Add all of those to the list.
