31K+ was a pretty impressive turn out. I had a lot of fun! The parking lot atmosphere was rad and the crowd was great during the game. I hope they do this again next year.

I concur with every part of this post.

We taligated right next to a truck that blasted Mexican music the whole time... really put a cherry on top of the whole tailgate experience. :)

You must have been next to me. I had the same experience.

This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.

  • 3 weeks later...

Watching NBCSN's "Premier League Countdown", & they just showed an interview clip with Brendan Rodgers where he compares Suárez's departure to Carlos Tevez's departure from Man City.

Uhhh, just no, Brendan. No.

"I remember Manchester City, when they lost Carlos Tevez, who was supposedly their top striker. And he moved to Italy, and everyone talked about... that that can really affect... and Manchester City, the following season, they won the league."

I get that he has to big-up his own players, but to imply there's a relevant comparison in the cases of Tevez & Suárez is pretty disingenuous.

I didn't see that clip, but it's not surprising he'd say something like that. He's the manager. He's not going to say "Well, we lost Suarez so we can't possibly win the title." I wouldn't be surprised if he said this as a way to spin it so there's less pressure this season. No one believes that Teves(then) = Suarez. They'll laugh that comment off and undersell Liverpool as a one-man team without the one-man. Just a theory based on Brendan's style with the press.

The last 10 games in which Suarez didn't play for Liverpool they lost one game. Of course Liverpool can't outright replace Suarez but they showed they could score plenty of goals even when Suarez wasn't in the lineup. I don't think they'll come as close to the title as they did last year but to think they're going to be devastatingly worse than last year is not correct, in my opinion.
