Anybody know the odds for the US advancing at this point?

I can't see Portugal making up 4 goals on the US.

I suppose Ghana could make up 2 goals vs the US.

USA just needs to come out and not lose by more than 1. Is there any collusion that Germany/USA could essentially do to play for a draw and both advance? Does that happen at any level of soccer, let alone international competition?

I think they should just sit down and hold a symposium Kraftwerk's influence on modern alternative music.

Suárez... there are no words at this point. Imo it should be a lifetime international ban handed down from FIFA... but it'll be interesting to see how they mete out punishment for both his country & club play.

Well, they can't ban him from club games. FIFA has no control over the English FA, he can only get banned on the international level. That said, and I'm a huge Liverpool and Suarez supporter, but he should get at least 2 years from FIFA. Inexcusable.

What I'm more curious about is how do you miss that as a referee? You have to be aware of Suarez's history, and the bite mark was pretty clear. But, I suppose you can't show him off if you don't see the bite but only see the imprint of his teeth? Just a completely weird situation. I mean seriously, who bites a guy?

My brother had a biting problem when he was like 3 or 4. Used to bite me. Then my mom bit him, that's probably child abuse today but back then it was good parenting and it obviously worked because he never bit again.

Nah, he didn't bite my finger. Ironically he bit my shoulder. :laughing

USA! USA! USA?

Yup, beers at 12:00 mean nothing's getting done today.

Belgium is a pretty good draw for the knockout stage, all things considered. Obviously they'll be the favorite, but it wouldn't be a shock to see USA go through.

FIFA banned him from all competitions for 4 months, including his club matches.

Yeah, I saw that. Once FIFA said they were taking into account his past bites, I kinda figured he was gonna miss part of his club season.

Really tired of his nonsense. Been at Liverpool three years and has been banned for significant parts of all three. I don't see LFC selling him in this window but I also wouldn't be surprised if they took the best offer they can get at this point.

Whether the game sells out or not, Milwaukee Brewers officials are already pleased that nearly 30,000 tickets have been purchased for the first professional soccer match at Miller Park on July 16.

The latest rumors are that Barça are still hot after Suárez. I know I'm no expert, but my money is on him leaving LFC this summer.

Yeah, but if there's one thing I've learned by following a club in Europe it's that you can't believe what you read in Summer. That said, I'm sure Barca are interested. If they offered 80+ million pounds for him, sure. Anything less and it's not smart. Bites or no bites.

I don't see LFC selling him this window. Probably not in January either, if he's cup-tied with LFC by playing in the Champions League. Next Summer though, I think he's gone. The English media will be all over him this season. There's no doubt about that. He could donate his entire year's salary to sick orphans and he'd still be the most hated player in England.

Good run by Mexico but not enough again. I think they went conservative too soon like Roberto Martinez suggested. Has to be a nightmare to have Robben man to man with Marquez in the penalty area.

The goal by Germany was so awesome...even though I was rooting for Algeria.

(as I pull up the bracket)

I like Brazil and Germany today.

I like Costa Rica and Argentina.

Germany over Brazil, and Argentina over Costa Rica.

Argentina takes the title.

Really unfortunate to see James Rodriguez and Neymar both bow out of the tournament. Hopefully Neymar is okay long-term, I don't know what the implications of a broken vertebra are, but it doesn't sound too good. It looks like Colombia should at least get one more four-year cycle out of most of this group of players; Rodriguez will be fun to watch over the next few years and especially in 2018.

There's nothing that can be said about the U.S. tournament that hasn't already been said.

As far as the future goes, I'm curious to see how much European interest there will be for guys like DeAndre Yedlin and Matt Besler. I'm hoping Julian Green finds a good spot to develop; he's probably graduated from Bayern's reserves but he won't touch the field with the first team, so perhaps a loan is in order to another Bundesliga club. Gedion Zelalem would be a great addition for the USMNT, so it will be interesting to see if he turns out.
