So Liverpool is dismantling Arsenal at halftime. Assuming that score holds and with the way both teams played, it should, Man City and Chelsea have the chance to move ahead of Arsenal to the top of the table.

That's the best 20 minutes I've ever seen Liverpool play. The pressing, the passing, the through balls, the shots, the set pieces, the Suarez shot off the post, everything. The only word that came to mind was "oppressive". If they get their away form in a little better shape they will easily make top 4 and could, with a good bit of luck, make a push for the top.

Oof. Arsenal just got sliced, diced, & humbled. Liverpool looked sensational.

Kalle,

Italy didn't get a very easy draw either, there are multiple groups of death! I think the Italy-England game could be a highlight of the tournament!

i answer after a couple of month (typical italian style)...

i think italy vs england could be a very intense game but i don't think these teams can compete for the final win.

the teams i am most curious about are Belgium and Colombia (now they say Falcao will be back and in shape for the cup).

Yesterday night i was at the pub with a couple of friends and one announced "the 28th of june i will get married!"

me and the two other friends simultaneously and terrified: "have you checked the World Cup schedule?"

:)

The tickets aren't that expensive considering one of the teams is the most popular Mexican club and the other is a Premier League club. Most of the seats are $25, though most of them will be a bit awkward for a soccer match. Parking, on the other hand, will be quite expensive. $20 in advance and $25 day of. Yikes.

I'm gonna try to go to this and Liverpool/Olympiacos in Chicago later in July.

As for the field after the match, I can't say for sure if it will damage it in any way but I know Fenway and Yankee Stadium among others have hosted soccer in the last few years and I didn't hear anything about the field afterwards so I don't think it'll be much of an issue at all.

The game is on July 16 and the Brewers next home game is on July 21.

I don't know how much the field will be torn up. . .maybe not at all.

But is it a concern?

There might be a couple of torn up spots here and there. It won't be nearly as bad as the stage from the Paul McCartney concert last year though.

don't know if there's a mexican community in Wisconsin but being the best team in Mexico doesn't make you a big soccer team or a team "to watch" anyway.

Swansea isn't a team with a great tradition either...

last few years most of the european top teams play (each other in) friendly matches in the U.S., do you know the price range for those matches? i think mostly the same of the one wich will take place in MP.

The Milwaukee area has quite a large Mexican community. Not as large as some other cities but still quite sizable. Plus, Chicago is only an hour and a half away.

Swansea is an easy choice for an opponent as their training base is in Chicago this summer.

Bottom line, Milwaukee can't realistically expect to get Man City to play Real Madrid at Miller Park. To get a very popular Mexican club and ANY club from the Premier League is a pretty cool thing for the city of Milwaukee. I expect a pretty large crowd.

The Liverpool/Olympiacos match in Chicago is 2 to 4 times as expensive as far as tickets are concerned. $50 was the cheapest I found for that one.

I think if this goes well (i.e. high demand for tickets) they'll continue to do this and the quality of the teams will increase. Work your way up to say a Tottenham/Valencia match and then a Chelsea/Juventus match or something.

Tickets for the July 16 match between Chivas and Swansea City at Miller Park went on sale Thursday and interest in the game appears to be healthy.

A Milwaukee Brewers official said sales are approaching 20,000 for the match.

Peter Wilt, a longtime soccer executive from the area who is currently president and general manager of Indy Eleven, a North American Soccer League franchise in Indianapolis, said a benchmark for a match like Chivas and Swansea City is 20,000 tickets sold.

Evidently, that has been reached.

Klinsmann announced our 23 man World Cup roster this afternoon.

Goalkeepers: Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)

Defenders: DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Timmy Chandler (Nürnberg), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Fabian Johnson (Borussia Mönchengladbach), DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle Sounders FC)

Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg), Julian Green (Bayern Munich), Jermaine Jones (Besiktas), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)

Forwards: Jozy Altidore (Sunderland), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders FC), Aron Johannsson (AZ Alkmaar), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes)

Some interesting choices, and I will withhold judgement until after the World Cup. But my initial thoughts would be that I am absolutely shocked Donovan is not at least on the bench, and that Wondolowski, and Green made it on the final roster ahead of him.

Currently I only watch tv by streaming online. However, with the World Cup coming up, I'm nervous about being able to legally stream the games online. I live in Madison so I have charter internet, but won't have access to espnwatch or espn 3 because I think you have to have charter tv.

I'm having a hard time finding alternatives. Can anybody help me w/ this?

Try to just mooch a Charter or AT&T or Time Warner (really I think any cable company these days) password off of a friend or family member. You can get a Roku for something like $50 and then stream ESPN in pretty good quality (mine is probably like 720p) on your TV.

No one's following World Cup? Huge loss for Spain. Not totally unexpected but the manner of defeat was shocking for a team of that caliber. Diego Costa couldn't have had a worse start.
