How bad was May??

DHonks
May was brutal as we continued without Hart (but hoped he'd return), Braun got injured (performed fine though except for homers), Ramirez limped along, and pitchers got hurt left and right. Our record is awful, but subtracting May we are now a .500 team (44-44). Not sure why we struggled so badly in May. We lost 12 games but 1-2 runs. 6-22 in May was brutal. Even 12-16 and we'd be playing for .500.

The starting pitching went into a collective horrendous slump: Gallardo, 5.97 ERA, Lohse, 6.51 ERA, Estrada, 5.40 ERA, Peralta, 7.71 ERA, Burgos, 8.35 ERA. Those are the times you want your top of the rotation to minimize the damage and they really weren't up to the task. Gallardo and Lohse won one game between them.

They also got nothing out of the bottom of their order in May. Weeks didn't drive in one baserunner the entire month generally hitting 6th. His lone RBI was on a solo HR. Gonzalez and Betancourt both hit well under .200. Maldonado hit .119 with 1 RBI. It's not like those guys didn't have opportunities either because the top of the order was getting on base.

Nothing went right in May. It was as bad a month I can remember being a Brewers fan. And there have been some bad teams. Since then they have looked much better, too bad the team stunk so bad in May and we never really had Braun, Ramirez and Hart all together. Could have done something this season.
