Keep an eye on the Manatee retro-jersey auction.

It ends at 11:59 PM ET, 10:59 CT tonight (Saturday night).

What's pretty cool about this is, as it turns out, you'll be able to bid on the very first game jersey Nicky Delmonico wears as property of the Brewers organization today.

Of course, don't forget about all the other Manatees as well :).

Tonight's Wisconsin opponent reminded me that both the Angels Salt Lake Pacific Coast League team and their Burlington Midwest League team are named the "Bees", and how that would drive us crazy here in Link Report land.

Damien Magnifico exits after just two innings for Brevard, not planned as Jacob Barnes had plenty of time to warm up coming in. Suspected issue with blisters again, but not confirmed.

Audio from Omaha — Sounds Outfielder Sean Halton

Here is Saturday’s interview with Sounds outfielder Sean Halton, who discusses his return to the Sounds following his first-ever, month-long stint in the major leagues; his change to a taller batting stance; whether he views the game a little differently at Triple-A now that he’s been in the big leagues; his recollections of his first major league home run; the decision to trim his long, flowing hair and thick beard (typically a popular topic of discussion); and the origin of his nickname, “Cheese.”

As always, a worthwhile listen with Jeff, enjoy. Sean's a good take.

Final: Tennessee 6 Huntsville 3

The Tennessee Smokies continued their power surge, smacking 4 home runs in defeating the Huntsville Stars 6-3 Saturday night at The Joe. Over the just completed 5 game series, the Smokies hit a total of 16 home runs. Unbelievable. Tonight's starter, Brooks Hall, lasted only 4 innings. Hall (0-4, 5.88) allowed 3 runs, all earned, on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. Hall allowed 2 of the 4 Smokies home runs. Hall threw 61 pitches over the 4 innings, 37 for strikes and had a 2-3 GO/FO ratio. Brooks is on a pitch/innings limit like most of the pitchers, so the short outings or occasional skipped start, are not always due to ineffectiveness.

With Hall going 4 innings, the bullpen needed to pick up the other 5. Recently recalled righty Mark Williams was first out of the pen tonight. Williams worked 2 very good innings. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits and struck out 5. The one run scored on a solo home run. Next was Eric Marzec. Marzec also worked 2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. He also allowed a solo home run. Finally, Arcenio Leon came on and worked a perfect 9th inning. Altogether, the Stars pitchers recorded 13 strike outs.

Huntsville Box Score

Unlike previous games, the Stars offense did not jump on the Smokies pitching early. They were limited to 8 hits and 3 walks tonight. Rene Tosoni was the only Stars hitter with more than 1 hit. He went 2-4 with a double. Tosoni now has hits in 7 of his last 8 games. Jason Rogers was the only other Stars hitter to reach base more than once. Rogers singled and walked tonight. Rogers now has an 8 game hitting streak. Shortstop Nick Shaw went 1-5 with an RBI. Third baseman Mike Walker had the Stars only other extra base hit, a double in the 2nd. The other Stars hits came from second baseman Eric Patterson, Joey Paciorek as a pinch hitter, and Mark Williams became only the 3rd Stars pitcher to record a hit this season when he singled and scored in the 5th. Left fielder Brock Kjeldgaard drew a walk and scored a run and Shea Vucinich also drew a walk tonight.

Jorge Lopez makes a pitch early in Saturday's game against the Burlington Bees. Lopez allowed one run over five innings for his fifth win of the season.

Video:

GRAND CHUTE, WI - Victor Roache led Wisconsin's 11-hit attack with three hits and three RBI on Saturday night against the Burlington Bees. Wisconsin would build an early 9-1 lead and they cruised to a 9-3 win despite six errors at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium.

Tyrone Taylor singled with two outs and none on in the bottom of the first. Roache followed and drove a home run over the 16'-high wall in center. The home run was the fifteenth of the season for Roache and gave the Rattlers (43-56 overall, 14-20 second half) a 2-0 lead. Mike Garza followed with a single to right that eluded Chevy Clarke and allowed Garza to take third. Garrett Cooper was next and his sinking line drive glanced off the glove of a diving Exicardo Cayones for an RBI double and a 3-0 lead.

Burlington (39-60, 13-21) came back with a run in the third inning. Sherman Johnson singled with two outs. Then, Pedro Tiribio doubled to left to drive in Johnson.

Wisconsin added to their lead in the bottom of the third. Burlington starting pitcher Nic DellaTorre retired the first two batters of the frame, but walked Roache and Garza on eight straight pitches. Cooper followed with a triple to right-center for a 5-1 advantage.

The Rattlers poured on the offense in the bottom of the fifth. Roache drove in a run with a single. Garza would single to load the bases. Cooper grounded into a 5-3 double play to score a runner from third base. Parker Berberet was next and he cracked a home run to left. The two-run blast put the Rattlers up 9-1.

Jorge Lopez, the Wisconsin starting pitcher, left after five innings. He allowed one run on four hits with a walk and five strikeouts.

Burlington got an unearned run in the top of the sixth off reliever Taylor Mangum. Cayones reached on an error to start the inning. Johnson singled with two outs and Cayones on third base to drive in Burlington's second run of the game.

The Bees made it 9-3 in the top of the eighth inning. Tiribio singled with two outs to drive in Riley Good. But, that was as close as the Bees would get in the game.

Mangum worked a scoreless ninth inning to earn his fifth save of the season. Mangum struck out four over his four innings of work

Game two of the series is Sunday afternoon. Austin Ross (0-0, 7.11) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Reed Scoggins (1-4, 3.83) is set to go for the Bees. Game time is 1:05pm.

Sunday is a Brewers Sunday presented by 107.5, The Fan. Tom Haudricourt, author of 100 Things Brewers Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die, will be signing his book from noon until 2:30pm. The book will be available at the stadium. Also, Timber Rattlers players and coaches will be wearing Brewers-themed jerseys during the game.

Fans may play catch on the field for thirty minutes starting at noon. Timber Rattlers players will be available for an autograph session on the third base concourse after the game. Time Warner Cable customers can receive up to four half-priced reserved bleacher tickets when showing their TWC bill at time of ticket purchase.

Sounds Drop Game After Late Rally

Nashville's Blake Lalli Homers Twice In 5-4 Loss

Nashville Sounds

PAPILLION, Neb. - Despite Blake Lalli's heroic two-homer effort Saturday night at Werner Park, the Nashville Sounds dropped the game

Down 4-2 with two outs in the ninth inning, Sounds first baseman Lalli tied the game with his second home run of the night. The shot got just beyond the glove of a leaping Anthony Seratelli at the right-field wall and sent the game into extras.

The game remained knotted at 4-4 until the bottom of the 11th, when a dropped fly ball in centerfield by newcomer Eugenio Velez gave Omaha the game-winning run. The error, Nashville's third of the game, was committed with two outs. Lalli, 2-for-4, was due up to lead off the 12th.

Sounds reliever Jesus Sanchez (3-2) was charged the loss, his second, having allowed one run on three hits in 1 2/3 innings. Michael Mariot (3-5) picked up the win for Omaha.

The Storm Chasers jumped out to an early lead, batting around in the third inning to score three runs off of lefty Chris Narveson. Christian Colon, 2-for-5, hit a single to right center field and moved to second on a walk, before Ben Broussard clubbed a home run to right field for the 3-0 lead.

Sean Halton recorded Nashville's first hit, a double, with two outs in the fourth inning. Designated hitter Hunter Morris singled to pull the Sounds to within two runs.

Omaha regained the three-run lead in the home half of the inning when Sounds shortstop Blake Davis committed his 16th error of the season. The fielding error, in which the ball jumped off the heel of Davis' glove, allowed Seratelli to score from second base.

The Sounds cut into the Omaha lead in the seventh inning when Lalli lifted his first homer of the game off Omaha starter Everett Teaford. The solo shot pulled Nashville to within two runs again, where it remained until Lalli's next at-bat in the ninth.

Lalli's effort marks the ninth time a Sounds batter has recorded two home runs in a game this season. It is the second occurrence for Lalli, having also belted two on May 23 at Tacoma.

Narveson surrendered four runs, three earned, to Omaha on eight hits and five walks over 6 1/3 innings of work.

Relievers Tim Dillard and Kyle Heckathorn also saw work on the hill for Nashville, combining for 2 2/3 innings with one strike out. Heckathorn walked the bases loaded with two outs in the ninth inning, but escaped with a groundout.

The Sounds play game three of the series with Omaha Sunday at 2:05 p.m. Throwing for Nashville will be RHP R.J. Seidel (2-4, 5.18) opposite the Chasers' lefty Danny Duffy (2-0, 5.11). Baseball returns to Greer Stadium on Tuesday, July 30, when the Sounds take on the Las Vegas 51s (Mets affiliate).

I didn't mention this in my post in the 'Fan Reports' thread, even though I should've: Berberet's HR was also a no-doubt shot. It flew over the taller section of the wall in left field.

Final: Bradenton 2, Brevard County 1

Skid continues as 'Tees edged by Marauders

Brevard falls 2-1 to Bradenton for 10th loss in last 12 games

By Andy Towne / Brevard County Manatees

http://www.milb.com/assets/images/7/6/4/55016764/cuts/Magnifico_7.27_1_8mi69bgh_3i5fme6i.JPG

Manatees starting pitcher Damien Magnifico went just two innings in his first start back from the disabled list in Brevard County's 2-1 loss to the Bradenton Marauders on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium in Viera.

Audio: Game Highlights

VIERA, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees dropped their third straight game to the Bradenton Marauders, by the score of 2-1 on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium.

Bradenton has now clinched the season series against Brevard County (15-18 second half, 52-48 overall) after also earning a split of a four-game set at the end of April. The Manatees have now lost ten of their last 12 games and four straight overall.

Marauders (13-22, 39-64) third baseman Benji Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. He scored the first run on Alen Hanson's RBI double in the third inning and drove in the eventual game-winner with a double in the seventh frame. Dan Gamache scored the run on the Gonzalez double after leading off that inning with a single.

The only run for the Manatees came in the bottom half of the third, immediately tying the game after falling behind in the top half of that inning. Ben McMahan smacked a one-out double and then scored on a D'Vontrey Richardson single.

Richardson also added a double in the sixth and has recorded multiple hits in four straight games. Since being added to Brevard's roster on June 29, Richardson has tallied 20 hits in 18 games played for the Manatees.

Damien Magnifico (0-1, 5.74 ERA) lasted only two innings on the mound before leaving with the same blister issue that plagued him in his last two starts and forced him to a stint on the disabled list. After giving up a leadoff single, he picked off Alen Hanson and then walked Junior Sosa. Those were the only base runners he would allow in his brief outing.

Jacob Barnes (6-5, 3.40) came on in relief and took the loss, despite a strong performance that would qualify him for a quality start if he had begun the game. Barnes surrendered two runs on seven hits in six innings, but perhaps most importantly posted a zero in the walk column and a six in the strikeout column.

The win went to Bradenton southpaw Zack Dodson, who held Brevard to just one run in his 6.1 innings of work. He was lifted from the game after walking Cameron Garfield, which was the first and only walk that the Manatees have drawn thus far in the series. Dodson allowed just three hits and struck out one.

Designated hitter Nick Delmonico went 0-for-3 with three groundouts to first base in his Milwaukee Brewers' farm system debut after being acquired in a trade from Baltimore for Francisco Rodriguez earlier this week.

The four-game series concludes on Sunday evening at Space Coast Stadium, with first pitch set for 5:05 p.m. Cody Scarpetta (0-4, 6.57) will take the hill for the Manatees, opposing Bradenton's Pat Ludwig (0-1, 3.15).

Brevard County Box Score

Only three hits for the Manatees tonight, two of which were by D'Vontrey Richardson. Three groundouts to the first-baseman for Nicky Delmonico in his organizational debut.

Final: @Helena 3, Missoula 2

Helena box score

A rare Pioneer League pitchers' duel. The Brewers fell behind 2-0 but score two in the 5th and one in the 7th to squeak out a win. Zach Quintana was decently effective, allowing two runs in four innings. Over his last couple starts he's finally begun posting quality (at least >1!) K/BB numbers. Tyler Linehan and Hobbs Johnson locked it down with five shutout innings of relief. Linehan had to work around not just four hits and a walk in his three frames but also two of his own throwing errors. The Helena staff kept the infield on its toes, posting a cumulative 12/1 GO/FO.

The Brewers had only five hits, and two belonged to Adam Giacalone and his .478 batting average; Giacalone was also hit by a pitch. Charlie Markson was back in the lineup after a couple days off and doubled; he may be nursing something given the time off and the fact that he DHed today. Omar Garcia was on twice and stole his 14th base.

Helena play-by-play

Linehan had better luck throwing to home plate than to other bases but he helped himself out here in what was at that point a tie game:

Missoula Top of the 6th

  • Jose Queliz singles on a line drive to right fielder Michael Ratterree.
  • With Stryker Trahan batting, wild pitch by Tyler Linehan, Jose Queliz to 2nd.
  • Stryker Trahan reaches on a fielder's choice out, pitcher Tyler Linehan to third baseman Taylor Brennan. Jose Queliz out at 3rd.
  • Joe Munoz singles on a ground ball to center fielder Omar Garcia. Stryker Trahan to 2nd.
  • Jake Mayers grounds into a double play, second baseman Renaldo Jenkins to shortstop Angel Ortega to first baseman Adam Giacalone. Joe Munoz out at 2nd.

Hendricks, Homers Down Stars

by Alex Cohen, Huntsville Stars

To wrap up their five-game set at Joe Davis Stadium and twenty-game season series, the Huntsville Stars lost to the Tennessee Smokies by a score of 6-3 on Saturday night.

Hitting 12 home runs in the first four games against the Stars, the Smokies continued their power surge in the series finale against Stars starting pitcher Brooks Hall (L, 0-4).

Following a one-out single from third baseman Christian Villanueva in the second inning, a two-run homer by outfielder Rubi Silva put the Smokies broke the scoreless tie. For Silva, the longball was his second of the series.

One inning later, a solo homer from outfielder John Andreoli made the score 3-0.

After first baseman Justin Bour hit a solo blast in the fifth inning against Stars righty Mark Williams for his fourth roundtripper in as many games, Villanueva then hit his third homer of the series with a solo shot off of Eric Marzec in the top of the eighth.

The Smokies scored their only other run on an RBI single by outfielder Jonathan Mota, also in the eighth inning.

That run support was plenty for Tennessee starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks. The Southern League North All-Star starting pitcher improved to 10-3 on the season after giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits through seven innings of work.

On offense, the Stars scored their two runs on Hendricks in the fifth inning. Following singles from second baseman Eric Patterson and Williams, an RBI single from shortstop Nick Shaw put the Stars on the board (audio). One batter later, a single from outfielder Rene Tosoni prompted a throwing error by Silva in right field that allowed Williams to score.

Huntsville plated their only other run of the game on an RBI groundout by catcher Adam Weisenburger in the ninth inning against Smokies reliever Tony Zych. Tennessee righty Frank Batista relieved Zych with one out in the ninth and finished off the inning to record his 13th save of the season.

From a pitching perspective, the Stars hurlers struck out 13 Smokies hitters, their highest total since May 7th against Jackson.

The loss for Huntsville gives them a final record of 8-12 in their season series against Tennessee.

On Sunday, the Stars will hit the road to open up a five-game series at The Ballpark at Jackson against the Jackson Generals. Huntsville will send RHP Drew Gagnon (3-5, 5.67 ERA) to the bump while Jackson will counter with LHP James Gillheeney (4-4, 3.53 ERA). First pitch is 6:05 PM.
