Keep an eye on the Manatee retro-jersey auction.

No Nicky Delmonico jersey listed, and still no formal placement on the Brevard roster.

Can't blame visa issues...

#impatient

Nicky mentioned the anticipation of meeting his new teammates per a tweet earlier this afternoon.

On a personal note, I am leaving town this afternoon for a race tomorrow morning, so if anybody would be willing to cover Brevard County tonight I would be grateful.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Thinking out loud using the rare Link Report soapbox --

The Brewers really should provide an update (owe their fans, really) a detailed update on Mark Rogers. Rogers is on the big league disabled list, earning the full big league minimum this year (or just a touch over).

Odds of contribution are long, we all know (pretty much impossibly long at this point, even for 2014). MLB isn't going to offer a 5th option year, so Rogers would need to make the big league club out of the gate next year.

OK, so it's "shoulder instability". What's the daily/current rehab regimen? Is Rogers going to avoid another surgery? Is he long tossing or active in any manner whatsoever? Are he and the Brewers on the same page re: treatment?

And normally I have nothing but positive things to say about the beat guys -- Adam, Tom, Todd. But I've heard more than once from them in audio interviews, "well, when we ask, we're told things are just the same" (paraphrase, of course). That's not enough, and it's worthy of following up (sorry if they have and I've missed it). Imagine Mark's not tough to reach himself in Maryvale for direct quotes. Weren't the Brewers just in Phoenix? (I realize Rogers is not at all on the casual Brewers fan radar right now, but still...)

And while not on the big league disabled list, RHP Nick Bucci is on the 40-man roster and Gord Ash has usually been open to discussing injury issues re: the 40-man. Bucci (also shoulder, we believe) couldn't get through his only rehab inning in Maryvale on June 20th (his only action this season). Just turned 23, he should have some attention focused on him as a potential big part of the future. We should know more than we do given Bucci's 40-man status.

Final: Bradenton (Pirates) 10, BC 2

Game Summary from the Pirate's perspective.

Marauders Roll Past Manatees 10-2

Season-high 16 hits back Rodriguez's six scoreless frames

By Nate March / Bradenton Marauders

Melbourne, Fla. - The Marauders (12-22) piled up 10 runs on a season high 16 hits in a 10-2 win over the Brevard County Manatees (15-17) on Friday Night at Space Coast Stadium. Eight different Marauders hit safely and six Bradenton batters had at least one RBI.

The Marauders offensive onslaught was carried out primarily against Manatees' ace Brent Suter (L, 7-6). Alen Hanson tripled leading off the game and scored immediately on a single by Junior Sosa. Sosa had three hits and two RBI against the lefty pitcher after beginning the game with just two hits against left-handed pitchers this season. Bradenton scored in each of Suter's five innings. Suter surrendered 12 of Bradenton's hits. Dan Gamache hit his 27th double and third home run off the starter, and scored three runs total in the game.

Joely Rodriguez (W, 2-3) pitched six scoreless innings for a second straight start. Rodriguez struck out four and did not walk a batter. He picked off two of the three batters that hit safely against him. Rodriguez has won consecutive decisions after starting 0-3 with the Marauders.

Orlando Castro returned from the disabled list with a scoreless inning out of the bullpen. Castro struck out two in his perfect inning. Brevard County broke up the shutout against Zac Fuesser in the eighth. With the Marauders leading 10-0, Ben McMahan hit a two-run homer for the Manatees. Fuesser pitched a perfect ninth.

Game three of the series will be played Saturday at 6:35 p.m. Zack Dodson will be on the mound seeking his third straight win for Bradenton. The game will be broadcast online at http://www.BradentonMarauders.com.

Brevard County Boxscore

While the Manatees managed just 6 hits D'Vo had a heck of a game going 3-4 (all singles). The only other offensive contributors were Ben McMahan with his HR and Brandon Macias with a double.

Brevard County Recap

A horribly quiet game log from the BC perspective.

Bradenton didn't have any big innings, but scored 1 or 2 runs in every inning but the 6th and 9th.

Sounds Lose Series Opener In Omaha, 6-1

Halton Homers But Storm Chasers' Dwyer Dominates Nashville Again

Nashville Sounds

PAPILLION, Neb. - Omaha left-hander Chris Dwyer continued his dominance of the Sounds, leading the Storm Chasers to a 6-1 victory over Nashville on Friday evening at Werner Park in the opener of a four-game series.

Dwyer (7-8) hurled his fourth quality start in four outings against the Sounds this season, allowing one run on three hits while striking out eight batters in seven strong inning of work. In his four outings against Nashville this year, he went 4-0 with a 1.63 ERA (5er/27.2ip). Dwyer is 3-8 with a 3.91 mark versus the remainder of the PCL (40er/92.0ip).

The Sounds (38-69) were held to just three hits on the night by a pair of Storm Chasers hurlers.

Omaha grabbed a 2-0 lead against Sounds starter Jimmy Nelson in the bottom of the second inning. After the right-hander labored through a scoreless 31-pitch first frame, he hit Brett Hayes with his first offering of the second inning then gave up back-to-back RBI knocks: a triple to left-center off the bat of Pedro Ciriaco followed by a run-scoring single to center by Paulo Orlando.

The Storm Chasers extended their advantage to 5-0 in the third with three more scores against Nelson. Omaha opened the frame by loading the bases on a walk and pair of singles against the right-hander before each of the next three batters plated a run. Max Ramirez grounded a run-scoring knock up the middle before Hayes and Ciriaco each rapped RBI groundouts.

Nelson (2-4) took the loss after allowing five runs on six hits over six innings of work.

Outfielder Sean Halton, playing his first game back with the Sounds following a month-long stint in Milwaukee, put Nashville on the board with an opposite-field solo homer to right-center to lead off the fifth inning. The slugger's tenth roundtripper of the year, which came against Dwyer, made it a 5-1 contest.

New Sounds reliever Brent Leach made his Nashville debut in the seventh inning and struck out his first batter before being touched for a solo homer by Christian Colon, marking the first run the left-hander has allowed in 10.2 total innings pitched this season. The longball was the infielder's tenth of the year.

Maikel Cleto worked the final two innings in hitless fashion to close out the victory for Omaha.

Infielder Eugenio Velez made his Sounds debut with a start at third base in the contest and went 0-for-3 at the plate.

The teams continue the series with another 7:05 p.m. contest on Saturday night. Left-hander Chris Narveson (2-6, 6.37) will man the bump for the Sounds and face Omaha southpaw Everett Teaford (3-2, 2.80).

LumberKings rule over Wisconsin

Clinton tops Rattlers 3-1

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Clinton LumberKings defeated the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 3-1 on Friday night at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Tyler Pike allowed three hits over six scoreless innings and the LumberKings scratched out single runs in the fourth, seventh, and eighth to beat Wisconsin.

Clinton (49-53 overall, 16-17 second half) scored a run in the top of the fourth without a hit. DJ Peterson walked to start the inning and went to second on a wild pitch. A slow grounder up the third base line got him to third base. Gaby Guerrero drove in Peterson with a ground out to third.

Wisconsin (42-56, 13-20) did threaten in the bottom of the sixth. Pike got the first two outs of the inning. But, Mike Garza and Parker Berberet followed with singles. Pike escaped the inning with a strikeout. He ended his six innings with five strikeouts.

The LumberKings added a run in the top of the seventh. Tim Lopes doubled to start the inning. A single by Ketel Marte drove in Lopes for a 2-0 lead. Lopes added a run scoring fielder's choice in the top of the eighth to drive in Gaby Guerrero for a 3-0 lead.

Tyler Roberts doubled to start the Wisconsin ninth inning against Oliver Garcia. None of the three Clinton pitchers had a 1-2-3 inning in the game, but Roberts was the first Rattlers batter to leadoff an inning by getting on base. Roberts was still at second base with two outs. Then, Chris McFarland singled to right to knock in Roberts to help Wisconsin avoid the shutout and bring the tying run to the plate. Tyrone Taylor hit it hard, but right at the centerfielder to end the game.

The loss knocked the Timber Rattlers to a season low of fourteen games under .500.

The Timber Rattlers begin a three game series with the Burlington Bees on Saturday night at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Jorge Lopez (4-6, 5.54) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Burlington sends Nic DellaTorre (0-3, 6.30) to the mound. Game time is 6:35pm.

Saturday night is the Super Ropes Candy Bonanza at the ballpark. What is the Super Ropes Candy Bonanza? You'll have to attend to find out, but as a tease, there are candy surprises during the game. Plus, the Super Ropes Beach in right-center features a Sand Castle Building Contest with the winner receiving a one-year supply of Super Ropes!

Also, Fly Away Saturday means one lucky fan will win airfare for two from Funjet Vacations and Fox World Travel at this game. The evening wraps up when FOX 11 presents a postgame fireworks display!

If you can't make it out to the stadium, My NEW 32's Sports Showdown has the television broadcast starting with their pregame show at 6:00pm*. The radio broadcast is on AM1280, WNAM or IHeartRadio starting with the Miller Lite Pregame Show at 6:15pm. Saturday's broadcast is also available to subscribers of MiLB.TV.

Final: Huntsville 9 Tennessee 8

In a back and forth game that saw the Stars take another 4-0 lead only to have Tennessee eventually come back and tie the game, Huntsville was able to find that last needed clutch hit to secure a 9-8 victory Friday night at The Joe. Starter Ariel Pena struggled most of the night. Pena, (5-7, 4.06) who was so dominant back in May, has really struggled in his last couple outings. His ERA on July 5th was 3.20. After tonight's outing, it's up to 4.06. Tonight, Pena worked 5 1/3 innings, allowing 8 runs, all earned, on 8 hits and 4 walks while striking out 3. He also allowed 3 home runs, giving him 15 for the season, which ties teammate Andy Moye for the league lead. As you might have guessed, the Stars staff has allowed the most home runs in the Southern League. Pena threw 100 pitches with only 58 being strikes. He did post a nice 8-3 GO/FO ratio. The 8 runs allowed is a little misleading as 2 of the runs scored after he left the game. None the less, he put them on base and they did score.

Hard throwing right hander Kevin Shackelford was tasked with trying to get Pena out of the jam in the 6th. Shackelford (1-0, 1.80) came into the game having allowed only 3 hits over the 8 1/3 innings he had worked this season for Huntsville. Tonight he allowed 4 hits including a single and double to the first 2 batters he faced in the 6th, which drove in the final runs for Tennessee in the game and tied the game at that time 8-8. Shackelford's line was 1 2/3 innings, 4 hits, no runs, no walks, and 2 strike outs. He did earn both a blown save and the win. Greg Holle worked 2 perfect innings, striking out 1 to pick up his 10th save on the season.

Huntsville Box Score

Huntsville recorded 11 hits and 10 walks tonight in their win. Shawn Zarraga got the start tonight behind the plate and made the most of it. He finished the night going 4-4 with a walk. He hit his 7th double on the season and drove in 3. The 4 hits raised his batting average to .319. Zarraga has started 3 times since July 5th. He is a combined 9-12 with a double, a home run, and 5 RBI's. He also was the 4th Stars hitter to record 4 hits in a game this season, joining Tosoni, Rogers, Davis, and Stang. It was Zarraga's single in the 7th that fittingly drove in the game winning run.

While Zarraga had a huge night, he was not the only Stars hitter doing damage. Big Brock Kjeldgaard launched his 16th home run on the season and finished with 3 RBI's. He's 2nd in the league with 16 home runs. Kjeldgaard also drew 2 walks and scored twice. First baseman Jason Rogers went 2-4 with a walk and drove in his league leading 63rd run. Third baseman Mike Walker went 2-4 with a walk and scored 3 times. Second baseman Eric Patterson went 1-3, drove in 2 and scored once. Right fielder Rene Tosoni recorded the Stars other hit. He also scored a run. Center fielder Chadwin Stang saw his hitting streak end at 9 games, but he did reach base twice including one time on catchers interference. Nick Shaw didn't record a hit, but did draw 2 walks and Shea Vucinich drew a walk in a pinch hit appearance.

Brevard blasted by Bradenton, 10-2

By Andy Towne / Brevard County Manatees

http://www.milb.com/assets/images/8/2/6/54905826/cuts/Richardson_7.26_xxtduibk_vx3715t3.JPG

Manatees center fielder D'Vontrey Richardson went 3-for-4 in Brevard County's 10-2 loss to the Bradenton Marauders on Friday night at Space Coast Stadium. For Richardson, it was the third straight game in which he recorded two or more hits. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography)

VIERA, Fla. - Friday night's post-game fireworks weren't all the explosions that a crowd of 3,195 got to see at Space Coast Stadium, but unfortunately it was the Brevard County Manatees that were blasted in a 10-2 loss to the Bradenton Marauders.

Ben McMahan's two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning accounted for Brevard County's (15-17 second half, 52-47 overall) only runs and prevented the 'Tees from being shutout.

D'Vontrey Richardson finished with 3-for-4 and has recorded multiple hits in each of his last three games. On the season, he has hit safely in 13 of his 18 games in Brevard County.

Southpaw Brent Suter (7-6, 3.14) lasted just five innings as he surrendered career highs in both runs (seven) and hits (12). He walked just one, struck out four and recorded a pickoff in the first inning.

The 16 hits for Bradenton (12-22, 38-64) marked the most of the season for the Marauders, as seven hitters recorded two or more hits. The Marauders scored at least one run in seven of the nine innings and they put two runs up in three different frames.

Alen Hanson led off the game with a triple and then scored on a Junior Sosa single. In the second inning, Dan Gamache began his big night at the plate with a double and a run. He went 2-for-3 on the night with two RBI, three runs scored and two walks.

Two runs came across in the third, when the Marauders sent eight men to the plate. Sosa had the second of his three hits and then scored later in the inning on single from Willy Garcia.

In between those batters, Stetson Allie poked his first hit of the night to left and then scored when Elias Diaz grounded a ball to short. The 'Tees tried to get a runner at second, but Gamache slid in safely ahead of the play.

Carlos Mesa led off the fourth with a double and then scored two batters later on a single from Sosa.

Gamache launched a two-run homer in the fifth and then scored again in the seventh after walking. A fielding error by Mitch Haniger allowed Gamache to score from first and put the batter, Diaz, on third. Diaz scored from there on a sacrifice fly by Alen Hanson.

Bradenton starter Joely Rodriguez tossed six scoreless innings to lower his ERA to 2.01 in seven appearances with the Marauders so far this year. He ceded only three runs with four strikeouts. Rodriguez also picked two runners off the base paths.

The series between Brevard County and Bradenton will continue on Saturday night with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

Zarraga playing well and playing some catcher again. A lot has happened since he had his great rookie ball campaign...injuries, becoming a switch-hitter, etc.

Also, good to see Arnett out there. I would imagine he'll be assigned to the AFL to make up for lost time and to potentially try to earn a 40-man roster spot. Maybe the extended rest for his arm will allow velocity to return
