Thanks, TC07.

Yea it's tough stuff to quote MH's hard work and cut it into a new post... ;).

Now to do it from scratch, that's a different matter entirely.

Thanks, TC07.

Thanks to all!

So after three flights today as part of an "until now" successful day dropping off "daughter Mass Haas" at a pre-college camp experience, I've been informed that the final leg of my journey from Baltimore to Providence faces a 3.5 hour delay and I'm stuck in a concourse with less-than-inspiring dinner choices.

But my first wi-fi of the day, and I'll be home to watch the last few innings of the late Brewers game ;).

Nashville catcher Robinzon Diaz makes his 28th career appearance at third base tonight for the Sounds, a cameo he's made every so often going back to the beginning of his pro career in 2002.

How many folks remembered Anderson De La Rosa debuted as an OF back in 2004? That surprise CF appearance Friday night was his first OF action since 2009, and first CF stint since 2006.

This is a different Kentrail Davis interview from yesterday's:

Audio from Nashville — Sounds outfielder Kentrail Davis

Here is tonight’s interview with new Sounds outfielder Kentrail Davis, who discusses joining the Sounds from Double-A Huntsville, his return to Tennessee (where he attended University of Tennessee) and getting to play in his home region with Huntsville (he’s a native of Mobile, AL) and his history with teammates like Hunter Morris (Auburn alum) and Jimmy Nelson (Alabama alum).

Final: Huntsville 3 Birmingham 2

The question coming into tonight's game was how was David Goforth going to follow up his last start where he went 7 innings and allowed 2 hits in a shutout of the Tennessee Smokies? Well, by going 7 innings, allowing 2 hits and shutting out the Birmingham Barons of course! For the 2nd consecutive outing, David Goforth (3-1, 3.18) pitched 7 innings of shutout baseball. Tonight's shutout was a combined one with Brooks Hall. His last outing was a complete game 7 inning affair as it was part of a double header. Tonight, Goforth needed 101 pitches, 61 were strikes, in putting down the Barons. He posted a sparkling 11-2 ground out to fly out ratio. Only 1 Baron baserunner reached 2nd base tonight, that was in the 2nd inning when Brandon Short reached on a walk and stole 2nd. That was it. A truly dominant performance, in only his 4th AA start. Over his last 2 games, Goforth has lowered his ERA from 8.31 to the current 3.18. Keep it up! For his efforts tonight, Brooks Hall earned his first save on the season. He worked 2 scoreless innings, allowing only a walk while striking out 2.

Huntsville Box Score

The Stars needed a strong pitching performance because the Barons pitching was giving Huntsville hitters fits. Limited to 6 hits and 3 runs, the Stars made the most of their hits. Rene Tosoni stayed hot, giving the Stars a first inning lead with his 10th home run on the season. First baseman Mike Walker gave the Stars some needed insurance with a 2 run home run, also his 10th on the season, in the 7th. Third Baseman Joey Paciorek was the only Star with multiple hits tonight, knocking out 2 singles. Chadwin Stang and Nick Shaw each singled for the Stars as well. Since being promoted to Huntsville, Stang has played in 13 games. He's reached base in 12 of those 13 games and has hits in 9. The Stars didn't draw any walks tonight, but Brock Kjeldgaard reached on a HBP, and scored in front of Mike Walker on his home run.

Victor Diaz took his sixth loss of the season, despite a 2.51 ERA. Today was more of the same as he went 7.1 innings and gave up just one earned run. Unfortunately he also surrendered a pair of unearned runs in the 3-2 loss. Diaz struck out six. Melvin Tejada worked 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and one walk.

Daniel Leonardo, Yeraldy Martinez and Juan De Los Santos each singled for the only other Brewers base hits in the game. Sounds Stung By Ninth-Inning Rally In 5-4 Loss

Memphis Plates Three With Two Outs In Final Frame To Rally For Victory

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to stun the Nashville Sounds, 5-4, in front of 9,201 fans on Saturday evening at Greer Stadium.

Nashville led 4-2 in the ninth and Kyle Heckathorn retired the first two batters of the frame before four consecutive Redbirds reached base against him, capped by Chris Swauger's bases-loaded, go-ahead three-run double. Heckathorn (6-3) suffered the loss while failing to convert his first save opportunity of the season.

Stephen Parker led off the bottom of the ninth with a single for Nashville, but Fernando Salas retired the next three batters in order to close out the contest and notch his fourth save of the year.

The defeat was the Sounds' league-leading 19th one-run defeat of the year and the club's first loss when leading after eight innings (30-1). Memphis had been 0-38 when trailing after eight frames prior to the come-from-behind win.

The Sounds (33-64) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Kentrail Davis drew a one-out walk, stole second and scored on a two-out Hunter Morris single to left.

Memphis leveled the contest in the second when pitcher Boone Whiting helped his own cause with a two-out RBI single to left off Johnnie Lowe.

Redbirds shortstop Greg Garcia gave the visitors a 2-1 lead in the top of the third when he belted his first career Triple-A homer, a leadoff solo shot to right off Lowe.

Lowe turned in a solid spot start while filling in for Futures Game-bound Jimmy Nelson, working his second quality start of the year for the Sounds. The right-hander allowed two runs on 10 hits over six frames and took a no-decision.

Nashville tied the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth when Blake Davis scored on Scooter Gennett's bases-loaded Baltimore chop single to the left side of the infield with two outs against Marc Rzepczynski.

The Sounds pulled back in front in the seventh when they plated a pair of runs against Rzepczynski. Robinzon Diaz (3-for-4) led off with a single through the left side and scored the go-ahead run on Cole Garner's one-out triple to the wall in right-center. Blake Davis followed with a sacrifice fly that extended the Nashville lead to 4-2.

Memphis attempted to rally in the eighth against Jesus Sanchez, loading the bases with one out on a pair of singles sandwiched around a hit batter. However, the Sounds right-hander recovered to strike out pinch-hitter Chad Huffmann and retired Ryan Jackson on a inning-ending groundout.

The cross-state rivals wrap up the four-game set as well as the Tennessee Lottery I-40 Cup season series with a 6:35 p.m. finale on Sunday evening. Left-hander Chris Narveson (2-5, 6.70) will man the bump for the Sounds to face Memphis right-hander Scott McGregor (3-5, 5.70).

Final: Ogden 8, @Helena 3

Helena box score

Starter Tristan Archer allowed five runs in the first two innings and that was pretty much that. Four of the five were unearned, though he did allow five hits and hit a batter; it's hard to give up that many runs and be completely blameless. One of the three runs David Otterman would allow later was unearned as well. We finally saw Danny Keller again, for the first time since Opening Day, notching two quiet innings.

Not that much going on offensively. Taylor Brennan reached base three times, and Renaldo Jenkins was the only Brewer with multiple hits. Jose Pena has four hits in his last 10 games, and they're all doubles.

Wisconsin walks off Lake County in 12 innings

Reed's Game-Winning Homer pulls Rattlers past Captains 6-4

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Michael Reed heads to first as he watches his game winning home run clear the left field wall in bottom of the twelfth inning on July 13, 2013. (Ann Mollica/Wisconsin Timber Rattlers)

GRAND CHUTE, WI - Stellar relief pitching and a big home run from an unexpected source gave the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers a 6-4 win over the Lake County Captains in twelve innings on Saturday night at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Rodolfo Fernandez was excellent out of the Wisconsin bullpen to keep the game tied. Michael Reed won it for the Rattlers in the bottom of the twelfth with his first homer in over a year.

Lake County (35-54 overall, 12-10 second half) scored two runs in the first inning off Rattlers starting pitcher Tyler Wagner. Logan Vick doubled off the wall in left to drive in a run. Erik Gonzalez sent Vick home with a single. The next two hitters also collected hits to load the bases with two outs, but Wagner got out of the frame with no more damage.

Wisconsin (39-38, 10-12) rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the first. The first three Rattlers reached base to start the inning. Victor Roache grounded into a 5-4-3 double play to let the runner on third score. The tying run scored when Mike Garza's flyball to right was dropped for an error.

The Timber Rattlers went in front with single runs in the second and third innings. Max Walla doubled to start the second. Then, Chris McFarland hit a triple to the gap in right-center and Walla cruised home. Roache crushed a 1-0 pitch to left-center with one out in the third for his ninth home run of the season and a 4-2 lead.

The Captains tied the game in the top of the fourth. Dorssys Paulino lined a double to left with two outs to drive in a pair of runs to make the score 4-4. That was it for Lake County runs against Wisconsin pitchers. Wagner scattered eleven hits over eight innings and struck out eight while walking one. But, he was not involved in the decision. Fernandez took over in the top of the ninth and proceeded to pitch four scoreless innings and record eight strikeouts to keep the game tied.

Wisconsin's offense struggled to get anything going after the fourth inning. Arcia doubled with two outs to put runners on second and third in the Rattlers half of the fourth, but Wisconsin did not score in that frame and didn't get a runner past second base until the twelfth.

Lake County reliever Jack Wagoner, the fourth pitcher of the night for the Captains, entered the game to start the bottom of the twelfth and walked Arcia to lead off the frame. Arcia stole second base on a 1-0 pitch to get into scoring position for Reed.

Reed saw the count run to 1-2 and fouled off the first 1-2 pitch. He lined a deep fly to left field on the next pitch and the ball sailed over the 16' high wall for the walkoff home run.

The home run was the first of the season for Reed and his first since July 4, 2012 when he was a member of the Helen Brewers, the Pioneer League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.

That was also the first walkoff home run by a Timber Rattlers player since Ben McMahan hit one to beat the Great Lakes Loons in the bottom of the tenth inning on July 18, 2012.

Game two of the series is set for Sunday afternoon at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Jorge Lopez (4-6, 5.37) is scheduled to start for the Timber Rattlers. Robbie Aviles (3-3, 4.05) is set to take the hill for the Captains. Game time is 1:05pm.

The first 500 to attend Sunday's game will receive a magnet featuring Jonathan Lucroy from Lamers Bus Lines. This is magnet number two in a series of four that are being given away this season.

Football season is almost here and the Timber Rattlers invite area fans to show their support for the team in Green Bay on Green & Gold Day! Wear Packers apparel to the game and receive $1.00 off a reserved bleacher seat when you make your purchase at the ticket window.

Sunday is also a Brewers Sunday presented by 107.5, The Fan. Timber Rattlers players and coaches will be wearing Brewers-themed jerseys during the game. Plus, fans may play catch on the field for thirty minutes starting at noon. Timber Rattlers players will be available for an autograph session on the third base concourse after the game. Time Warner Cable customers can receive up to four half-priced reserved bleacher tickets when showing their TWC bill at time of ticket purchase.

If you can't make it to the ballpark, tune in for the radio broadcast on AM1280, WNAM IHeartRadio starting with the Miller Lite Pregame Show at 12:45pm. Sunday's game is also available to subscribers of MiLB.TV.

HOME RUNS:

WIS:

Victor Raoche (9th, 0 on in 3rd inning off Jake Sisco, 1 out)

Michael Reed (1st, 1 on in 12th inning off Jack Wagoner, 0 out)

WP: Rodolfo Fernandez (2-3)

LP: Jack Wagoner (2-3)

TIME: 3:18

ATTN: 5,785

Wisconsin Boxscore

What a time for Michael Reed's 1st HR of the season! It looked good off the bat but I wasn't sure it was gone, however I knew it was going to be at least a game winning double. Just fantastic, especially considering how last night's game played out.

Tyler Wagner and Rodolfo Fernandez combined for 16Ks on the evening, though Wagner wasn't all that sharp, he was leaving some awful fat pitches up in the zone. Fernandez got up to 94 on the stadium gun and he spent most of the night up in the zone and worked for him, Lake County hitters continually swung through high FBs and he was flipping a nice tight curve at times as welll.

Victor Roache smacked a HR but had a tough night otherwise, hitting into a double play and striking out twice while committing 2 errors in the field.

Orlando Arcia, Michael Reed, and Max Walla each had 2 hits and Walla has pushed his AVE up over .300. Arcia made good contact in every AB including line drives the other way on a couple of occasions, it is starting to look like he's ready to make another run. Interesting side note, the TV crew was talking about Walla translating an interview for Arcia for a "beat writer", but they didn't know from where. At any rate, I thought that speaks very well of Max.

If you are a TWC subscriber I highly recommend you DVR Timber Rattlers Field Pass, just fantastic information in every episode so far this season. It would be nice if they would release the archived shows to the web after the season, but that's probably wishful thinking. In the most recent episode Tyler Robers talked about learning how to catch and hit coming into professional baseball and Martin Viramontes discussed ditching his change and focusing on his slider and curve at David Chavarria's request. I think Viramontes is one of the more intriguing relievers in the system, he's not quite Jesus Sanchez intriguing to me yet, but his power arsenal trips my trigger.
