ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Nashville Sounds blew a ninth-inning lead but recovered to post a 7-5, 12-inning victory over the Round Rock Express on Monday evening at The Dell Diamond.

In the top of the twelfth, the Sounds snapped a string of 16 consecutive batters retired by Round Rock pitching when Blake Lalli reached on a one-out infield single off Nate Robertson (1-2). Josh Prince followed with a walk before Stephen Parker hit a liner to center that was misjudged by Engel Beltre, resulting in a go-ahead RBI double that put Nashville on top, 6-5. Anderson De La Rosa lifted a sac fly to right that gave the Sounds a two-run cushion.

Kyle Heckathorn (2-1), who worked into and out of a no-out bases-loaded jam in the eleventh, closed out the game by retiring the Express in order in the bottom of the frame to secure the win.

Sounds starter Johnnie Lowe authored a quality start and pitched well enough to earn his first victory of the year, which he was denied following a late blown save by the Nashville bullpen.

The right-hander held Round Rock to two runs (one earned) on five hits over his six innings of action. He did a good job of limiting damage throughout the evening, stranding Express runners in scoring position in three of his six frames.

Lowe's solid outing continued a recent trend of strong starting pitching for Nashville hurlers. In the past 10 games, Sounds starters have posted a 2.59 ERA (17er/59.0ip).

Caleb Gindl (3-for-5) gave the Sounds an early 3-0 lead with an opposite-field, three-run homer off Round Rock starter Scott Richmond in the top of the first inning. Blake Davis and Hainley Statia had preceded Gindl with singles before scoring on the outfielder's seventh big fly of the year.

Round Rock got a run back in the home half of the opening frame when Beltre led off with a double against Lowe and, following a passed ball charged to De La Rosa, scored in unearned fashion on a groundout.

The Express got another run-scoring groundout in the second to cut the Nashville lead to 3-2. Aaron Cunningham led off with a two-bagger and later scored on Jim Adduci's ground ball to first.

Prince gave Nashville some breathing room in the seventh when he slugged his fifth home run of the year, a two-run shot to right off Richmond. The outfielder continued his strong run production; he has recorded an RBI in 13 of his last 18 contests. Lalli, who singled earlier in the frame, also scored on the blast.

Round Rock took immediate advantage of Lowe's departure, getting those two runs right back against Sounds reliever Travis Webb in the bottom of the seventh to cut the Nashville lead to 5-4.

Mike Olt opened the frame with a single and scored one batter later on Adduci's double combined with a fielding error by Prince in center. Adduci later scored on a sac fly to make it one-run contest once again.

For Nashville, Webb and Michael Olmsted combined to work around a pair of baserunners to log a scoreless eighth before closer Rob Wooten took the mound for the ninth and suffered his second blown save in 10 chances.

Adduci led off the Round Rock ninth by belting a game-tying homer to right, his sixth longball of the year, to square the contest at 5-5.

In the Round Rock eleventh, Heckathorn worked out of a no-out, bases-loaded jam to keep the game going. Joey Butler led off with a double. After Mike Olt singled to put runner on the corners, the Sounds intentionally walked Adduci to load the bases for Greg Miclat, who hit a sharp grounder to second that Hainley Statia turned into a 4-2-3 double play. After another intentional walk to Beltre reloaded the bases, the Nashville right-hander popped up Robinson Chirinos to escape the jam unscathed.

The Sounds will look to gain a split of the four-game set when the clubs wrap up the series with a 7:05 p.m. finale on Tuesday. Left-hander Chris Narveson (0-0, 0.00) will make his second rehab start for the Sounds. Round Rock will counter with southpaw Ryan Feierabend (1-1, 4.91).

It's late, so I'm keeping this post brief.

After being named the organization's MiLB hitter of the month for May, Hunter Morris promptly went out and threw up an 0-5 night. Jinxed.

How the Sounds managed to not lose the game in the 11th... I do not know:

Round Rock Bottom of the 11th

-Pitching Change: Kyle Heckathorn replaces Rob Wooten.

-Joey Butler doubles (9) on a line drive to right fielder Caleb Gindl.

-Mike Olt singles on a line drive to center fielder Josh Prince. Joey Butler to 3rd.

-Kyle Heckathorn intentionally walks Jim Adduci. Mike Olt to 2nd.

-Greg Miclat grounds into a double play, second baseman Hainley Statia to catcher Anderson De La Rosa to first baseman Blake Lalli. Joey Butler out at home. Mike Olt to 3rd. Jim Adduci to 2nd.

-Kyle Heckathorn intentionally walks Engel Beltre.

-Robinson Chirinos pops out to first baseman Blake Lalli in foul territory.

And then, naturally, Kyle came right back out & worked a 1-2-3 12th to lock up the win:

Round Rock Bottom of the 12th

-Chris McGuiness grounds out, shortstop Blake Davis to first baseman Blake Lalli.

-Yangervis Solarte flies out to left fielder Khris Davis.

-Aaron Cunningham flies out to center fielder Josh Prince.

Manatees starting pitcher Brent Suter, seen here in a game from earlier this season, allowed three runs in seven innings of work as Brevard County defeated the Fort Myers Miracle 6-4 on Monday night at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers.

AUDIO: Pre-Game Interview with Andre Lamontagne

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees' offense lashed out 12 hits in a 6-4 win over the Fort Myers Miracle on Monday night at Hammond Stadium.

Brevard County (29-27) set the tone early by plating three runs in the top of the third inning. T.J. Mittelstaedt led off the frame with a single to left field. With one out, Lance Roenicke sent a towering fly ball to left field that Aderlin Mejia couldn't track down while trying to avoid crashing into the wall. Roenicke's double put two men in scoring position for Brandon Macias, who singled sharply through the left side to score Mittelstaedt. Greg Hopkins doubled to dead center to plate both runners and give the Manatees a 3-0 lead.

Fort Myers (40-16) would respond with two runs in the bottom of the frame. Eddie Rosario and Miguel Sano hit back-to-back RBI doubles to cut the deficit to one. Levi Michael scored on Rosario's double after lacing a double of his own.

One inning later, the Miracle tied the game on a two-out RBI bloop single to left field by Stephen Wickens that fell between shortstop Brandon Macias and left fielder Ben McMahan.

The 'Tees would retake the lead in the sixth inning. With two outs and the bases empty, Nick Ramirez smacked a double to left-center field. McMahan then singled to left and Ramirez slid in safely ahead of the throw from Mejia to put Brevard County up 4-3.

Brevard County starting pitcher Brent Suter (4-3, 3.50) did not need any more support from the offense, as he scattered nine hits over seven innings en route to the victory. He surrendered three runs and did not walk a batter, while striking out four.

After the Manatees extended the lead to two on a two-out RBI double by Ramirez in the top of the eighth, Kevin Shackelford went right through the heart of the Miracle order in the bottom half of the inning. Shackelford retired Sano, Kennys Vargas and Angel Morales on 12 pitches in a 1-2-3 frame.

Mittelstaedt provided some more insurance for the 'Tees with a solo home run to deep right field in the top of the ninth. For Mittelstaedt, it was his fifth homer of the season and hist third hit of the night.

With a 6-3 lead, closer Tommy Toledo entered seeking his sixth save of the season. Toledo struggled with his command to start the inning as he walked two of the first three batters.

After a wild pitch that put runners on second and third, Michael hit a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to two once again. With two outs, Mejia came to the plate representing the tying run. Toledo retired the left fielder on a slow roller to second to end the ballgame.

The same two clubs will be back in action tomorrow for a 7:05 p.m. start at Hammond Stadium. Jed Bradley (3-2, 5.11) will toe the rubber for Brevard County and Fort Myers will send a lefty of their own to the mound in Jason Wheeler (5-0, 3.94).

Final: DSL Brewers 2, DSL Tigers 3

The Brewers suffered another tough one run loss to the Tigers on Monday, falling by a score of 3-2.

Gian Rizzo got the start for the Brewers and worked three scoreless innings, before being replaced by Joel Dicent. The Tigers got an unearned run off of Dicent, with two outs in the fifth inning to take a 1-0 lead.

After retiring the first two batters of the inning, Dicent walked Tigers second baseman Domingo Layba. Willy Adames followed with a single, and an error by Brewers second baseman Raphachel Colatosti allowed Layba to score.

The Brewers answered back and took a brief lead in the sixth inning. After the first two batters of the inning were set down, center fielder Yerald Martinez walked. Outfielder Juan Ortiz then blasted a two run home run to right field to give the Brewers a 2-1 lead.

The lead wouldn't last long though, as Pedro Peguero relieved Dicent and gave up a pair of runs. Felix Santana doubled to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning. Ignacio Valdez infield single moved Santana to third and put runners at the corners with nobody out. Victor Ovalles then lofted a fly ball to left, deep enough to score Santana and tie the game at 2-2. Valdez moved to second on a ground out and then took third on a wild pitch. Following a two out walk to again put runners at the corners, Peguero uncorked another wild pitch, allowing Valdez to come home with the go-ahead run.

That would prove to be the difference in the game, as the Brewers weren't able to muster any more offense and fell to the Tigers for the second game in a row. The Brewers (0-2) will host the Reds (0-2) on Tuesday at the Brewers facility.

DSL Brewers Box Score

Gian Rizzo started but pitched just three innings in his first outing of 2013. He allowed three hits and struck out one. Joel Dicent followed Rizzo and allowed just one hit in his two innings of work. He struck out three and allowed the one unearned run, thanks to some shoddy defense behind him. Pedro Peguero was credited with a blown save and the loss after giving up two runs in his one inning of work. He gave up a walk, two hits, but it was the two wild pitches that really killed him. Felix Paulino pitched the seventh and eighth innings and gave up just one hit.

Not much offense to speak of outside of the two run homer by left fielder Juan Ortiz. He was 1 for 3 with a walk and both Brewers RBI. Catcher Leudi Otano had one hit in three trips to the plate, as did second baseman Raphachel Colatosti. Yerald Martinez and Yunior Santana each drew a walk, but that was it for Brewers baserunners. Colatosti and Santana were both gunned down trying to steal. Carlos Belonis started the game in center field, but was replaced by Martinez after striking out in the fourth inning. May be something to keep an eye on. Hopefully Belonis will be back in the lineup tomorrow.

DSL Brewers Play-By-Play

The Brewers only runs came on a two out home run in the 6th

DSL Brewers Top of the 6th

Daniel Leonardo grounds out, shortstop Willy Adames to first baseman Victor Ovalles.

Juan Ortiz homers (1) on a fly ball to right field. Yerald Martinez scores.
