Dominic Smith just called the Mets an incredible team. :laughing

Cripes I spelled Gray as "Grey" twice in one post

Perhaps that's your subconscious fighting a craving for Earl Grey tea. ;)

Hard to bag on either of the divisional picks so far. 2 potential impact hitters and coming into the year, Pirates pick Austin Meadows was the best prep bat in the country, Frazier just passed him up. The Pirates have another pick coming at 14.

I'm new to baseball drafts. Throughout draft history, which has a higher bust rate, hitters or pitchers?

Brewers Pitchers > Pitchers > Brewers Hitters > Hitters

lol let's just give doug melvin his own special category

You mean Bruce Seid who has been in control of the draft since 2009?

The talent base of our divisional opponents has dramatically improved in the last 90 minutes. Yikes. :rolleyes

This feels exactly like my first dance as a kid. All the pretty girls are being taken before it's my turn to pick. :laughing

Ha, my prom was almost the exact opposite. Went there and a pretty girl in my stat class asked me to dance with her.

What's he supposed to say? This team sucks. I hate them.

You're right.

Ugh, I just checked the Brewers game. 1st inning, we're already down 2-0. :(

I'm thinking in football terms. In football the GM is responsible for the whole draft. It seems like in baseball the GM has a hand in the 1st pick and after that its someone elses responsibility?

No idea who the Brewers would have taken at 17, the pick was traded before a mock draft came out and the Brewers are notorious at keeping their cards close to the vest. The one poster that routinely nailed the Brewers' pick doesn't post anymore.

edit. traded... taken... it's all the same.

Manaea might drop to the 2nd round due to injury concerns. I would definitely look at taking him with the Brewers pick in the 2nd round.

I know it's not fair, but I'd rather not take another player from Indiana, and yes that's directly related to Arnett. I know it's Indiana St and not the Big Ten Indiana, but still... plus his injury concerns. I'd rather not have another Roache (ceiling aside), draft guys whom are healthy when you don't have don't really have picks to waste.

In ESPN's chat word is that Manaea having dropped would bring the strong possibility of returning to school.

No guess at all then Crew...At least if you could pick at 17 for the Brewers who would you have picked with what was then left available?

I'll give you a guess, but not specific, I think they would have been targeting one of the College/JC position players as this draft is fairly thin that way. Tim Anderson was a good pick at #17. I don't think the Brewers would have picked him, Eric Jagielo from ND maybe? A 3B prospect, I couldn't see them taking a SS with Segura, Arcia, and Rivera in the pipeline, even though I believe in BPA.

narwhalattack (or anybody), related to Austin Wilson, I've come across the comment multiple times that Stanford has their hitters hit/bat differently or in some specific style. Do you know what they mean by that?

Stanford tends to emphasize contact hitting over power hitting, so they adjust the hitting styles of their hitters as such.
