Minor League Pitching - Who is responsible?

Bombers

I am sure I am missing a few names. But at the end of the day, accountability has to be uphelp and those responsible for scouting, development and general oversight should be fired. I am very close to just saying fire them all! Here are some names, which I believe to be more important than just replacing Doug Melvin.

Front office list: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/team/front_office.jsp?c_id=mil. (Maybe place this link near top of this page: http://www.brewerfan.net/ViewScoutingMap.action?draftId=5)

Reid Nichols

Position: Director of Playor Development

Length at Position: 2002.

Links: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=5927

Comments: He has done a great job through 2005 when we drafted Braun. Then, ummmm ya, a whole lot of nothing. (I guess LaPorta and Lawrie worked out well for trades) ... Maybe it is time for him to be fired?

Bruce Seid

Position: Director of Amateur Scouting

Length at Position: 2008.

Links: http://onmilwaukee.com/sports/articles/seidscouting.html?17237, http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/34211659.html

Comments: Replaced Jack Zduriencik. Has been involved with scouting for 11 years in Brewers system prior to 2008 promotion.

Jim Rooney

Position: National Pitching Crosschecker

Length at position: 2008

Links: http://mlb.mlb.com/content/printer_friendly/mil/y2008/m12/d02/c3698991.jsp

Comments: Really no idea how this guy keeps his job. What has our pitching done since 2008? Fire this guy

Rick Tomlin

Position: Minor League Roving Pitching Coordinator

Length at Position / Background: 2012 - Mets fired him after 1 season (2011 - see link). Held same position with Yankee's from 02-04.

http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20121218&content_id=40724806&c_id=mil

Comments: Mets saw enough of him after 1 year. Not sure what he is bringing to the table in his 2nd year here. Hard to assess I guess. Maybe a push? But I would probably fire him.

Others:

Scott Martens

Position: Business Manager/Player Development & Minor League Ops

Length: Been with team (Various positions) since before Melvin.

Link: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20081024&content_id=3642848&c_id=mil

Tom Flanagan

Position: Senior Director, Baseball Operations

Length: Been with team (various positions) since before Melvin

Comments: Same as Scott, maybe time for a new guy

Joe Ferrone

Position: National Cross checker

Length: 2010

Comments - Fire him.

Who scouted these players?

Eric Arnett - Mike Farrell

Position: Still in same position.

Dylan Covey

Scouted by: The Brewers have been scouting him since spring 2009. Area scout Dan Huston and West Coast crosschecker Corey Rodriguez saw Covey extensively, as did Seid and his assistant, Ray Montgomery. The Brewers also sent roving crosschecker Jim Rooney, a former Major League pitcher, to meet with Covey.

Comments. Huston, Rodriguez, Seid and Rooney are all still in their same position. Montgomery is no longer with the Brewers.

Taylor Jungmann

Scouted by: Jeremy Booth. No longer with the Brewers. http://seattle.mariners.mlb.com/news/print.jsp?ymd=20120105&content_id=26267472&c_id=sea

Link: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110606&content_id=20121882&c_id=mil

Jed Bradley

Scouted by: Couldn't find a link. Steve Smith is current scout responsible in the area.

In the end. There are a lot of people responsible for us not having 1, not 1, great first round pick since Lawrie. (Coulter / Roache - TBD).

Fire them all. Fired, fired, fired. I want some accountability.

If the Brewers don't win the division I should be banned. However, they will.
