Going to Minnesota....suggestions?

paul253

I'm headed up to Target Field for the first time next week and I have two questions for anyone familiar with the stadium and the surrounding area:

1) Does Target Field have an all-you-can-eat section like the Dew Deck at Miller Park or the rightfield bleachers in Pittsburgh? If so what section is it?

2) Any recommendations for bars to go to before or after the game near the ballpark?

I wish I could help you out but I haven't lived in Minneapolis since 1997 and I haven't been downtown since something like 2002. I've heard it's different down there, bars have changed formats and so on. My MN buddies have given Target field nice reviews but I haven't caught a game there either as it just hasn't worked out to get there.

To echo TheCrew, I haven't lived there since '97, and I'm sure it's changed. My POV was mainly the U campus. Worth wandering around there for a bit. I used to enjoy Stub & Herb's for burgers. Don't remember much of downtown, but would be worth checking out who is at 5th Avenue that weekend.

I went to a game at Target Field (non Brewers game) a few years ago and we went to Kierans. It was recommended by my cousin who lives in the area and attends a lot of Twins games. Irish bar, lots of space and a great outdoor patio. We had so much fun we didn't make it in until the 2nd inning. We never left the patio until we headed into the game. I highly recommend this place.

As for food I was told Pork on a stick (inside stadium near CF) is a must but I thought it was dry and not that great.

There is a place that I believe is now called the Alley, which is right down from the stadium. Used to be called Smalley's. I like that for pre game and you can be outside. Kierans is pretty cool too. I like that post game. Where are you staying, downtown?
