2013-05-22 Dodgers (Ryu) at Brewers (Peralta), 12:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 9-2; Peralta out after 1.2 IP]

In regards to Peralta, he consistently looks like he is falling off to 1B after every pitch. Does Kranitz not see this terrible balance a month and a half into the season?

Kranitz doesn't have a clue as pitching coach.

That's simply my opinion, as the job performance of a pitching coach is difficult for an outsider to evaluate.

Why try to go to 3rd when you're down 6-0? Seriously. What a maddeningly frustrating team.

because if you get out and the next two batters do as well, alfredo figaro stays in the game to start the third inning.

Attanasio sounded pretty pissed during that in-game spot in the booth last half inning. I have never cheered against the Brewers even during our worst days, but a small part of me is hoping that a complete drubbing when the owner is in town might get the ball rolling on some changes that really need to be made.

I have to imagine Kranitz's days are numbered unless there is a substantial turnaround quickly. Consecutive seasons with one of the worst pitching staffs in the league despite having guys such as Gallardo, Lohse, Marcum and Grienke tends to get people fired.

All we can go by is history when it comes to Mark A, but his handling of Ned Yost tells us that RRR's job security might not be as solid as some think it is.... hopefully Mark cleans house including Melvin and goes for complete change. Doubting that though.

I agree with you. I definitely think that the Yost to Sveum move was a MA move rather than Melvin as well. My guess is that Melvin is way to conservative of a GM to have a made that kind of move with twelve games to go in the season unless he got ordered to from ownership.

It's been brought up already in this thread... but what are they really going to do? Our starting pitching is awful and we don't have many options - and the options we have are probably not too much better.

I can't help but wonder if this would be a game if we had 1st and 2nd with nobody out in the 2nd like we should have. Thanks to our over-aggressive philosophies, we'll never know.

Yeah, I agree their aren't many options. A nagging question for me, which I'll be happy to hear is uninformed and stupid, is how much does Braun's contract hamstring us now and into the future?

Not at all now and not at all in the future.

Braun's contract is a relative bargain. He could be traded for a huge return tomorrow if we really needed to get rid of it.

Thanks for the answer. It seems like a lot of money and time, I don't really pay much attention to contract issues so I don't know what it looks like in the context of other players/contracts.

Well for some perspective, if Braun had never signed an extension with us, he would just be entering free agency next year. He would probably command something at least in the vicinity of $25M per year in free agency over that time. As it is he will make $113M over 7 years with us, or just over $16M a year.

RRR has to go. Our fundamentals are so poor, our base running couldn't be much worse, which is a direct result of RRR, and the small mistakes he makes are adding up to a lot of losses with a team that can't win in spite of him. (like the 2011 team did)

It's time for change. We need to hit rock bottom (not that we haven't already done so), so Attanasio can finally see that a change is necessary.

Weeks has to be benched for an extended period of time. Time to stop worrying about hurt feelings, bench the guy.

I'm not pinning any of this on Peralta, but for anyone to say he hasn't been completely horrible is just nuts.

Kranitz has to go.

Everyone says it isn't the pitching coaches fault, the pitchers just need to make their pitches. While true the pitching coach is there to teach them how to pitch and develop the player whether it is mechanics, pitch selection, thought process or any other number of factors. Bottom line is this entire staff has regressed under his tutelage.

We are now seeing how horrible the management really is now that they do not have a hand me a playoff spot team like they did in 2011.

@AdamMcCalvy: Ryan Braun: "We're just barely even competitive. It's been horrendous. Terrible."

Just heard him saying this on 1250 after the game. He sounds just as frustrated as that looks in print.
