2013-05-19 Brewers (Lohse) at Cardinals (Gast), 1:15 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 4-2]

I'm wondering if the orders to play Weeks at 2B no matter what are coming from the Front office. DM.

If it's Weeks over Bianchi then I'm sure that is RRR's decision.....If you want to see Scooter then it's Melvin's...http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/05/nl-central-notes-hart-choo-arroyo-cardinals.html

Since AR couldn't play today they really had only one other choice if they weren't going to play Weeks...is Gonzalez any better?

Why Bianchi wasn't at 2B today to start is beyond me. If RR is smart he will sit Weeks or go to a full platoon. Have weeks only play Vs a LHP. That should lower his playing time dramatically.

*cough* Gast is a LHP *cough*

But I do agree with lowering Weeks at bats. Maybe 0-Dodgers would be a good start.

Yeah, I don't know why I didn't think of that.

If Weeks plays against 1 RHP no matter the history against him, then that's automatically a bad decision on RR, and we will know they aren't ready to sit Weeks any time soon. RR said he'd play the match-ups, so we will see if this is what he meant. Now if Weeks can't even hit LHP's then get rid of him.

Btw.. it could be RR decision to play Weeks, but considering how much money Weeks is making I think DM is more involved then we really think.

DM is no fool, he wants to win, and continuing to run an inferior option out there every day without fail, no matter what his salary is seems ridiculous.

I highly doubt Melvin is making RRR start Weeks when his job could be on the line based on on-field performance. If Melvin is calling this shot, RRR needs to stand up and tell him he is wrong.

Of course, I think RRR is making this decision 100% on his own, so it is probably a moot point.

Don't underestimate playing time based on contract (money committed), especially based on money earned based on playing time as Weeks contract is. A GM understands that he needs to exhaust all options to death, before he pulls the plug. A manager wants to win, because his job is on the line as well, and likely more so than the GM. You bet DM is involved in this.
