Coming into today Lucroy was hitting .083 with RISP and 2 outs so I don't how clutch that is. It is a small sample but has to be at least as many or than high leverage situations.

For the season, Lucroy was batting .308 with runners in scoring position. 8 for 26 with 14 RBI. A .971 OPS.

Rickie Weeks with RISP? He's batting .094. 3 for 32 with a .528 OPS.

Want to know why Lucroy is getting more slack? There's your answer.

So 5 hits separate them. Neither have hit well on the year not sure why some can't just admit Lucroy hasn't been hitting well. The clutch argument fails with his 1/12 with RISP and 2 outs. Small samples are always going to skew. Weeks was hitting like .270 with the bases empty so should he bat higher in the order because he sets the table? He does get on base better than Lucroy overall even with a sub 200 BA. The howls for putting Lucroy in the 4 hole to replace the struggling Weeks were strangely silent when Lucroys results there were equally bad. Nobody thinks Weeks is doing well but there are people that can admit Lucroy isn't doing much better if at all when the entire body of work is compared.

Lucroy is a very good defender. Weeks might be the worst glove of any MIF in baseball.

Lucroy rarely ever makes a boneheaded mistake. Weeks makes the same amount as he did when he was a rookie aka A LOT.

Lucroy has gotten unlucky far more than Weeks, who is lucky if he squares up one ball per series.

Lucroy is on bargain contract. Weeks is the highest paid player on the team.

Lucroy actually gets time off twice a week. Weeks writes his name in the lineup every night even though he clearly isn't the player he was from 07-11.

Yet Lucroy made two mistakes in one night when he didn't help Segura on a close play at the plate and then waved Ramirez to 3rd on a ball that didn't get too far from the catcher.

Overstate much? I've seen Weeks hit far more balls on a line to OFs than Lucroy this year

It's still Roenicke's decision and the fact that Roenicke hasn't given him a day off yet, even though he may not want one is horrible.

That seems to be a problem with management if you ask me. Maybe it's time the manager makes that decision, not the player.

Nitpick much? I didn't see the first play so I can't comment on that but the second is much more on the runner. It's his job to have a good secondary lead and to know when to advance on a wild pitch.

Weeks is hitting a ton of choppers to SS and 2b. It seems he isn't elevating the ball this year and is really having trouble hitting the sweet spot because of poor balance during his swing. Yes, he's had some liners hit right at defenders. Everyone has them.

Yes. And the original discussion is why do people hate on Weeks when Lucroy has been nearly as bad? Weeks has been at the plate about 30 more times than Lucroy. It's asinine that he's played every game. I realize that it's much more Roenicke's stubbornness at fault, but I can still understand why people are more fed up with Weeks. Especially considering he has a history of playing like this for prolonged periods of time.

FWIW, Weeks' LD% is about 3% higher than Lucroy's (though Weeks is striking out a ton more and hitting a ton of groundballs, over 52%).

I just looked at his numbers on fangraphs and he is really having an odd season. Like you said, his LD% is actually quite good. His IFFB% rate is way down . He doesn't have any infield hits on the year. Reading all that and I'd say he's been cheated on his singles. You'd think some of the GBs he's hit would have found holes, or he would of beat out a couple dribblers in the IF.

Dat K% tho. Tough to overcome if you're not hitting for some serious power.
