2013-05-08 Rangers (Holland) at Brewers (Lohse), 7:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 4-1]

mike gonzalez is awful. im surprised by how bad he has been. i was real happy that we signed him in the offseason. i thought that he was going to be a reliable veteran that would lock down the 8th inning spot. he just sucks. this should still be a 2 run game.

Why does everybody on our team swing away at the first pitch? Ted Williams took the first pitch for a reason.

Adam, I think Nori was smart staying at first. Down 3 runs, risking the third out trying to get one base wouldn't have been wise. If Jean gets a hit, then Braun is the tying run at the plate.

Besides being a bad game, it's amateur night out here in the bleachers. We both have huge headaches right now.

Why should a guy let a hittable pitch go by for a strike? Paul Molitor wasn't shy about swinging at first pitches.

I get your point...mine is that you've got more of a contact hitter coming up, put yourself in scoring position and you might be able to get out of the inning at 4-2. With 2 outs, there's a lot bigger difference between going from 1st to 2nd than from 2nd to 3rd. I also thought he had a lot better shot at making it than Rock let on, but I could be wrong.

Ok, I see your point, Adam.

I just didn't want to run out of a potentially big inning. Segura's the best in the Majors right now at getting infield hits. Even if Braun doesn't knock it out, he's been seeing the ball really well. That kind of speed on the bases, a double from Brauny scores two.

I guess the long and short of it is, there's always more than one way to look at something. :)

Luc is really struggling right now.

Anybody else see a distinct difference in the Ranger bullpen versus ours? Scheppers throwing lasers, and the guys we've been sending out there don't seem to have much of anything velocity wise.

Well, Figaro with some heat, but getting the ball knocked into the outfield.

I'm just asking these guys to realize that they need to get on base above all else here, and not see any wild swings looking for a solo HR.

EDIT: Well, that's already out the window.

Sigh. Week little popup in the infield. This team can't buy a clutch hit right now.

Disgusting. Our final hitter of the night will be a guy with a .210 OBP.

God I hate Gonzalez. Up 2-0, get yourself on base and get the tying run to the plate, and he hacks at a potential Ball 3 then potential Ball 4. He is the very definition of useless.

Wow. Gonzalez=not good.

3-6 home stand. 1-6 in May. Hope these guys get it together on the division road trip. Be nice to be at .500 going into another long home stand, but that'll require 6-4. We'll see. I thought these first three weeks of May would give a nice early barometer for gauging this team. So far, not so good. Still time to turn it around, though.
