2013-05-07 Rangers (Grimm) at Brewers (Peralta), 7:10 PM CDT [Brewers win, 6-3; Yuni takes team lead with 8th HR]

Another case of the Brewer bats starting off with a lot of runs in the first, and then doing nothing to rest of the game. We're allowing the Rangers to creep back into this game.

Wheels coming off. Way to punt it, Aramis.

Not sure how Peralta has been good this year. He's been carrying an ERA over 5.00 since his April 16th disaster against the Giants.

He's allowed twice as many hits as K's and nearly as many walks as K's - a guy who is supposed to be a strikeout pitcher.

Not saying potential isn't there, but I wouldn't say he's been good, aside from a couple starts.

I thought Peralta was supposed to be a strikeout pitcher? He's not fooling anybody on the mound.

Why is he still in there? He's getting lit up. Do we need to allow them to tie it up before he gets the hook?

34 pitches thrown. I'm not so much worried about the score as I am Wily's health. He's laboring, and I don't want him to throw his arm out.

Mercifully, Soto pops up to end it.

At least he finished it up for a "quality start".

Not that Peralta doesn't have talent to maybe be a good pitcher in the future, but it makes me kind of sad that this is literally the best starting pitching prospect we have had since Gallardo. That's awful.

You make it sound like he's at best a #4. Yes the state of our farm system isn't that great when it comes to pitching. There are guys there though

Right now? He is at best a #4. Has the "potential" to be a #2. But, so did Parra.

He's got ace caliber stuff. If he can fix his control problems he could be a #1. The team has to do a better job when it comes to pitching prospects. Peralta's the only guy with ace potential. Everyone else is at best a #3.

Be very careful here.

The Ranger broadcasters said that Peralta's strikeout pitch is the slider, and at least thus far, he's not getting good command on it. They pointed to that as the reason for his lower strikeout total in the Majors.

If he can start to control that slider he will be a real tough guy to deal with.

We have 8 hits. 5 were in the first inning. After an explosion to start the game, our offense has gone night night.
