Predict the Brewers May Record

jjkoestler

With 3 games left to go in May at 5-20 for the month, the Brewers are on pace to set an all-time franchise low. The ten worst calendar months in franchise history (minumum 10 games played):

1. Aug 1969 (Seattle Pilots): 6-22, .214

So only winning the last 3 games of May will keep this from being one of the 10 worst months in franchise history. And they need 2 of 3 to keep this from being the worst month since the Brewers arrived in Milwaukee.

Of the teams listed above, only Team Streak finished above .500 at 91-71, and excluding the strike shortened '94 and '95 seasons, all the other teams lost at least 94 games. Yikes.

BuckyBrewer, this team cannot be as bad as those early 70s teams, can it?

I remember that '87 team, they started the year with 13 straight wins and followed it up with 12 straight losses in May. What a team that was!

Seen a Elias Stat on ESPN. Brewers were .5 game out of 1st place to start the month and finished 15 games behind 1st place StL. I guess well here it is:

Rough Month For Brewers

From Elias: The Brewers opened the month of May one-half game behind first-place St. Louis, and they ended it 15 games in back of the division-leading Cardinals. Only one other major-league team was in first place or within a game of first place at the beginning of a calendar month and finished that month at least 15 games behind the league or division leader. In 1939, the Senators were in fourth place, one-half game behind three teams that were tied atop the American League (Yankees, Red Sox, and White Sox) and found themselves 15 games back and in sixth place on the morning of June 1.
