With two home games slated for the Timber Rattlers today and needing a distraction from the Brewers season, I think I am going to pull the trigger on purchasing MiLB.TV. Before I pony up the $40, just curious if anyone has feedback, either positive or negative regarding the service, video quality, etc?

Not just “at Night” anymore.

We have a good 3 inches of snow on the ground yet but somehow the T-Rats are playing their doubleheader today, when I got out of bed this morning I thought there was no way....

Check out Chris' blog to see how far the field has come.

I can't speak to the video quality this season because the only game the the T-Rats have played that would have been available was broadcast in HD by TWC 32.

2 years ago when I dabbled a bit the feed was SD, but wasn't poor quality. You won't get any of the extras like pitch speeds and all of the different angles like you do with a MLB broadcast, but you do get the CF look through the pitcher to home plate which is familiar and there were generally wide views of field during the action. And of course you get to listen to Chris and watch the game at the same time.

Rattlers rally, then hold on for game one win

Wisconsin beats Kane County 7-6

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

GRAND CHUTE, WI - It took a little bit for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to warm up in game one of Saturday's home doubleheader against the Kane County Cougars. When they did get going, the Rattlers erased a 4-0 deficit on the way to a 7-6 victory. Tyrone Taylor had a pair of RBI doubles and Clint Coulter homered to pace the Wisconsin offense.

Rattlers starting pitcher Tyler Wagner walked three batters in the top of the second inning to load the bases. A sacrifice fly by Oliver Zapata drove in the only run of the inning for Kane County (2-6).

In the third inning, a single and two walks loaded the bases for the Cougars. Rock Shoulders drove in two runs with a double. Marco Hernandez made it 4-0 with a sacrifice fly.

Wisconsin (3-3) started their comeback in the bottom of the third. Alfredo Rodriguez was hit by a pitch to start the inning and Michael Reed followed with a single. Taylor drove in Rodriguez with a double to put the Timber Rattlers on the scoreboard. Orlando Arcia and Mitch Haniger both plated runs with consecutive sacrifice flies to get Wisconsin to within 4-3.

In the fourth, Jose Sermo tripled with one out. Rodriguez drove him in with a single through the drawn in infield to tie the game. One out later Taylor drove in Rodriguez with a double for a 5-4 Wisconsin lead.

Arcia was next and he reached on an infield single up the middle. Taylor raced around third and beat the throw from the Kane County shortstop. Arcia's single extended his hitting streak to six games.

Coulter made it a 7-4 Wisconsin advantage with a long home run to left-center. Coulter has homered in two consecutive games.

Taylor Mangum came on in relief for Wisconsin in the top of the fourth inning and kept the Cougars from scoring until a passed ball with the bases loaded let in a run in the top of the sixth.

Closer Martin Viramontes gave up a leadoff homer in the top of the seventh inning. Dan Vogelbach lined a home run to right field to cut Wisconsin's lead to a single run. Jeimer Candelario was next and he doubled. A walk to Shoulders put runners at first and second with no outs. Wilson Contreras fouled off a two-strike bunt attempt for the first out, but Viramontes hit the next batter to load the bases.

The Rattlers closer calmed down and struck out the next two Kane County batters to leave the bases loaded and nail down Wisconsin's first home victory of 2013.

HOME RUNS:

Wisconsin Game 1 Boxscore

For those that don't remember since the Rattlers haven't played since Monday it indeed was Clint Coulter's 2nd HR in as many games, he started a bit slow last year in AZ as well before heating up in a similar fashion. Our young players in A ball have certainly hit the ground running... I'm lovin' it!

The pitching was pretty mediocre here, but with 4 days off in a row I wouldn't read too much into that until all of the starters get back into a regular routine.

The Cubs have a prospect named Rock Shoulders, now that's an awesome name, Cubs' player or not.

Hooray and stuff, Taveras returns from bereavement leave... man I hate the Cards so much right now. Especially considering Miller appears to have bounced back from a horrible 2012, he looked every bit the top 5 prospect he was before his struggles last season after limiting an admittedly horrible Brewers line-up to 1 hit last night...

Kane County outlasts Rattlers to take nightcap in eleven innings

Cougars win 3-1 on 11th inning blast by Contreras

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

GRAND CHUTE, WI - A chilly Saturday afternoon at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium turned in a cruel extra inning loss for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in game two of a doubleheader. Willson Contreras hit a two-run home run in the top of the eleventh inning to provide Kane County with the winning margin of a 3-1 decision over the Timber Rattlers. Wisconsin had won game one of the doubleheader 7-6 and were four outs from victory in game two, but could not complete the sweep.

The Timber Rattlers (3-4) took advantage of a Kane County error in the fourth inning to get on the board. Chris McFarland reached on an error with two outs and stood at second base. Brent Dean made the Cougars pay by lining an RBI single to left to drive in McFarland for a 1-0 lead.

Rattlers starting pitcher Mike Strong left the game with two outs and runners on first and second in the top of the sixth inning. Austin Blaski entered the game and issued a walk to load the bases. Rock Shoulders was at the plate when a passed ball eluded Dean to let the tying run score for Kane County (3-6).

The nightcap of the doubleheader was scheduled for seven innings, but the teams played well past that. Neither team could break the deadlock until the top of the eleventh.

Willson Contreras, who was 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in game one, entered the game in the bottom of the seventh after Kane County sent in a pinch runner for their starting catcher in the top of that inning. Contreras stepped to the plate in the eleventh with a runner at first and cracked a one-out home run off the scoreboard beyond the wall in left-center to put the Cougars up 3-1 against reliever Taylor Wall.

Wisconsin did get a one out single from Parker Berberet in the bottom of the eleventh, but the Rattlers could not rally in game two.

The teams are scheduled for another doubleheader - weather permitting - on Sunday afternoon. Game one is set for a first pitch at 1:05pm. The Rattlers will send Damien Magnifico and Leonard Lorenzo to the mound as the respective starters in game one and game two. Kane County has scheduled Michael Heesch for game one and Jose Arias for game two.

Sunday is a Brewers Sunday with 107.5FM, The Fan. Timber Rattlers players will wear Milwaukee Brewers themed jerseys during the game. Brewers mascot Bernie Brewer will also be on hand to meet and greet fans!

Fans may play catch on the field before Sunday's game. There is also a post-game autograph session scheduled and Time Warner Cable subscribers may purchase up to four reserved bleacher seat tickets for half price when they show their Time Warner Cable bill on Sunday.

If you can't make it out to the game, tune in to the radio broadcast on AM1280, WNAM beginning with the Miller Lite Pregame Show at 12:45pm. Sunday's game is also available to subscribers of MiLB.tv.

Sounds Snap Three-Game Skid With 8-5 Win In Omaha

Parker, Garner Each Homer For Second Straight Night For Nashville

Nashville Sounds

http://i.imgur.com/KMj3s9M.jpg

Sean Halton (Mike Strasinger / Nashville Sounds)

PAPILLION, Neb. - Stephen Parker's sixth-inning home run put the Sounds in front for good as Nashville defeated the division-rival Omaha Storm Chasers by an 8-5 margin on a chilly Saturday evening at Werner Park.

With the win, Nashville (4-5) snapped a three-game losing streak. The Sounds rapped out 12 hits on the night, including two-hit efforts by five different players.

Nashville broke a scoreless tie in the third on Sean Halton's bases-loaded, two-run double into the right field corner off Omaha left-hander Everett Teaford. The two-bagger plated Scooter Gennett and Caleb Gindl and chased the Storm Chasers' spot starter from the contest.

Cole Garner (2-for-5) greeted new Omaha hurler Atahualpa Severino with a first-pitch, three-run homer to left, a line-drive shot that barely cleared the wall and upped the Nashville lead to 5-0. The three-run blast was the outfielder's third roundtripper of the season, tying Hunter Morris for the team lead.

Omaha got on the board in the home half of the third when Christian Colon recorded the club's first hit of the night, a towering two-run homer to left off Sounds starter Zach Kroenke that made it a 5-2 contest. The homer, which also scored David Lough, was the shortstop's second tater of the year.

The Sounds' lead evaporated in the fifth as the Storm Chasers sent eight men to the plate and scored three runs after loading the bases with no outs against Kroenke.

After Omaha filled the bags against the Nashville southpaw on a pair of walks followed by a fielder's choice bunt that was curiously ruled a hit, Jesus Sanchez took over on the hill and was greeted by a Colon single to right on a 3-2 pitch that reduced the lead to 5-3. After the Nashville right-hander walked Johnny Giovatella to force home Paulo Orlando, Xavier Nady lifted a game-tying sacrifice fly to right that brought home Lough to even the game at 5-5. Garner's throw beat Lough to plate on the play but catcher Anderson De La Rosa was unable to handle it.

Kroenke allowed only two hits in his four-plus innings of work but walked five batters en route to allowing five runs and took a no-decision in his second start of the year for Nashville. He threw 35 balls and 31 strikes in the outing.

Parker (2-for-4) wasted little time putting the Sounds back in front, leading off the sixth inning with an opposite-field solo homer to left that greeted veteran Omaha reliever Dan Wheeler. Parker's second big fly in as many nights against the Storm Chasers put Nashville on top, 6-5.

The Sounds tacked on a pair of insurance runs in unearned fashion against Wheeler in the eighth. Gennett extended his season-opening hitting streak to seven games with a one-out RBI single to right. Joey Paciorek, who reached on a fielding error by Giovatella at second base, scored on the play to increase the Nashville lead to 7-5. After Omaha brought Michael Mariot to the hill, the Sounds' lead grew to three when Ozzie Chavez (2-for-4) trotted home from third on Gindl's fielder's choice grounder.

Sanchez (1-0) picked up the victory for the Sounds despite allowing his three inherited runners to score in his one inning of work. Wheeler (1-2) drew the loss for Omaha.

The Nashville bullpen continue its outstanding work. Behind Sanchez, Michael Olmsted (2.0 IP) and Travis Webb (1.0 IP) turned in scoreless relief efforts before Rob Wooten worked around a pair of ninth-inning baserunners to close out the victory and notch his third save of the year.

The teams continue the series with a 2:05 p.m. matinee on Sunday afternoon. Right-hander Tyler Thornburg (0-0, 3.60) will man the bump for the Sounds to face Omaha right-hander Brian Sanches (0-0, 3.60).

Final: Clearwater 2 Brevard County 10

Ramirez, Brevard blast Threshers

'Tees slugger hits two homers in 10-2 rout

By Andy Towne / Brevard County Manatees

VIERA, Fla. - Behind Nick Ramirez's two home runs, the Brevard County Manatees posted their best offensive showing of the young season in a 10-2 win over the Clearwater Threshers at Space Coast Stadium on Saturday night.

Brevard County (5-4) had the leadoff man reach base safely six out of eight times and that started right away in the first inning. Chadwin Stang notched his first of two hits on the night and then scored on a Cameron Garfield double.

A five-run second inning saw every Manatee run score with two outs on the board. Brandon Macias scored on a Dionis Hinojosa single to start the rally. Stang then walked and came across on a Greg Hopkins double and Hopkins was brought home by Ramirez's first long ball of the night to make it a 6-0.

Clearwater's (5-4) only two runs in the game were scored in the third on a pair of doubles. Jonathan Roof hit one before Kyrell Hudson was hit by a pitch and highly-rated prospect Maikel Franco brought them both in with a two-bagger.

Brevard County would get those two runs and one more back in the bottom of the third. Macias was hit by a pitch with one out and advanced to second and third on two separate wild pitches. After the second, which was the fourth ball on Lance Roenicke, a wild throw into left field allowed him to scamper home. Hinojosa followed Roenicke with a four-pitch walk, setting up Stang's two-RBI triple.

Ramirez led off the fourth inning and blasted his second home run of the game, which was also his third in two nights. Ramirez became the first Manatee to hit two home runs in a game at home since Brock Kjeldgaard accomplished the feat on June 5, 2011.

Brevard County's pitching staff also had a big hand in the victory as starter Jacob Barnes (1-0, 2.57) earned the win in his first start of the season. He allowed two runs in five innings of work and allowed four hits, while striking out five with no walks.

Out of the bullpen, Tyler Cravy, Tommy Toledo and Seth Harvey combined for four scoreless innings with just one hit, two walks and three strikeouts to round out the box score.

On the other side, Clearwater starting pitcher Colin Kleven (0-2, 18.90) was roughed up as he was charged with nine runs on seven hits and three walks in 2.2 innings. However, six of the eight outs he recorded were on strikes.

The Manatees look for their second straight series win on Sunday night in the series finale against the Threshers with first pitch scheduled for 5:05 p.m.

Brevard County Box Score

Big night for the BC offense, led by Nick Ramirez with his second and third home runs of the season. Chadwin Stang, Greg Hopkins, Cameron Garfield and Yadiel Rivera all had two hits as well. Dionis Hinojosa was on base three more times tonight, with a single and two walks. He's been on base six times in the last two games.

Jacob Barnes had a solid start and the bullpen was great once again. Cravy, Toledo and Harvey allowed just one hit over the final four innings combined.

For only the second time in the first nine games of the year, the Stars offense got out to the initial lead, scoring three runs in the first inning off Suns starting pitcher Matt Neil. Second baseman Nick Shaw led off the inning with a single, and following another single by right fielder Kentrail Davis, both runners scored on a two-run single by first baseman Jason Rogers for the first two runs of the ballgame.

Three batters later, Rogers was plated on an RBI single by center fielder Rene Tosoni to make the score 3-0.

Unfortunately for the Stars, the Suns offense began to heat up in the second inning. After right fielder Kyle Jensen was hit by Huntsville starting pitcher Andy Moye to begin the inning, an RBI triple by third basemen Zack Cox and an RBI double by first baseman Mark Canha cut the Stars lead to 3-2.

When an RBI single by shortstop Jeff Bianchi (with Stars on MLB rehab) put Huntsville lead back up to two in the bottom half of the inning, the Suns came back in the top half of the third scoring four runs while sending 10 batters to the plate in the process. Highlighting the frame was a bases-loaded RBI walk drawn by shortstop Danny Black and a two-out, three-run double by Jensen to make the score 6-4.

That third inning marked an early exit for Moye, who was part of a seven-inning one-hitter his last start last Sunday against Chattanooga. The 25-year-old righty was chased from the ballgame after just 2.2 innings, giving up six runs (four earned) and four hits in the process.

However, Moye would go on to earn a no-decision, as the Huntsville offense was able to tie back up the ballgame in the fourth inning. To begin the rally, both Tosoni and catcher Shawn Zarraga reached base off Neil. Then, after both runners advanced into scoring position on a wild pitch, a botched throw by Neil on an attempted sac bunt by Stars reliever Alan Williams allowed Tosoni to score to cut the Jacksonville lead to one. Later in the inning, a sacrifice fly by Shaw brought in Zarraga to tie up the game at six.

The back and forth between the two teams continued into the middle innings, as Jacksonville reclaimed the lead in the sixth inning on a Derek Dietrich RBI single. That was countered by an RBI single from Stars third baseman Mike Walker in the bottom of the seventh to tie back up the ballgame at 7-7.

The score would remain that way until the ninth inning, until Stars lefty Thomas Keeling (L, 0-1) found his way into some trouble. After Jensen walked and Cox singled to begin the inning, a two-run double from left fielder Jake Smolinski plated both of them in Jacksonville the lead for good.

Earning the win for the Suns was lefty Rawdel Lazo, who pitched two innings of scoreless relief to end the game and improve to 1-0 on the season.

The win for the Suns was their third consecutive against the Stars, clinching a series victory at Joe Davis Stadium.

On offense, the Stars out-hit Jacksonville 11-7, and were led by two hits apiece from Shaw, Rogers and Tosoni.

The Stars and Suns will play the finale of a five-game series at Joe Davis Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Huntsville will send RHP Arcenio Leon (0-0, 3.60 ERA) to the bump to square off against Suns RHP Sam Dyson (0-0, 1.80 ERA). First pitch is at 4:03 CT.

After wrapping up their five-game series against the Suns, the Stars will immediately welcome the Tennessee Smokies into town for five more games at The Joe.
