Sounds a no-go -- enjoy the Brevard webcast tonight.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Thursday night's scheduled 7:05 p.m. homestand finale between the Nashville Sounds and Oklahoma City RedHawks has been postponed due to heavy rains in the mid-state area which have resulted in unplayable field conditions.

The game will be made up as part of a 6:05 p.m. doubleheader on Friday, June 28 during the RedHawks' next visit to Music City.

Safe to say the Manatees have the full attention of the Brewers front office tonight (and the Link Report fandom).

In prior Brevard years, it'd be a truly "silent night" for the fans here.

Have a great webcast, guys, and Brooks Hall, no pressure...

By the way, the Manatees have been outscored 17-0 in two home games thus far. Home game #3 is tonight.

Final: Lakeland 0 Brevard County 2

With the offense sputtering, Brevard needed a solid pitching performance from starter Brooks Hall. He delivered in a big way, going seven strong innings, and shutting out the Lakeland Flying Tigers to earn his first win of the season and improve the Manatees record to 4-3 on the young season.

The Manatees pushed across the games first run in the sixth inning, without the benefit of a hit. Dionis Hinojosa walked with one out and then stole second base. The throw sailed in to center field and Hinojosa moved to third. Chadwin Stang followed with a sacrifice fly to right to score Hinojosa. After Greg Hopkins reached on a throwing error, Nick Ramirez ripped a double for the Manatees first, and as it turned out, only hit, scoring Hopkins to make it 2-0. The bullpen held on from there for the victory.

Brevard County Box Score

A certain Major League quote comes to mind here. One hit? Nick Ramirez sixth inning double was the only hit the Manatees offense recorded tonight. Dionis Hinojosa drew a walk and wreaked some havoc on the basepaths which proved to be the difference in the game. He also recorded an outfield assist.

Brooks Hall was outstanding, striking out six and scattering just four hits over seven innings. Mark Williams pitched a scoreless 8th and Seth Harvey shut down Lakeland in the ninth to earn his third save of the season.

Hall headlines 'Tees first home win

Brevard completes sweep of Lakeland with 2-0 shutout

By Andy Towne / Brevard County Manatees

VIERA, Fla. - Wins are credited to a pitcher of record in every game, but not always earned. On Thursday night, Brevard County Manatees starting pitcher Brooks Hall truly earned the victory as he needed only 72 pitches to get through seven scoreless frames in a 2-0 win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers at Space Coast Stadium.

Hall (1-1, 1.64) scattered four hits, walked two and fanned six on the night. Mark Williams and Seth Harvey came on behind Hall to close it out, with Harvey earning his third save in three opportunities.

It was the first home win for Brevard County (4-3) this season and though the two runs were the first two scored by the 'Tees at Space Coast Stadium, they were just enough. The Flying Tigers' (2-4) defense had committed a league-high 12 errors on the season entering play on Thursday and added to that with three more defensive miscues.

Lakeland's first error came in the bottom of the fifth, when Eugenio Suarez had a tough grounder go off the end of his glove to end a perfect game for Drew VerHagen. In the sixth, Dionis Hinojosa took the only walk issued by VerHagen on the evening, then stole second and advanced to third on a wild throw by catcher John Murrian.

Hinojosa crossed the plate on Chadwin Stang's sacrifice fly before Greg Hopkins reached on a throwing error by third baseman Jason King. Nick Ramirez smashed his third extra-base hit in as many games - a double - to drive home Hopkins for the second run.

VerHagen took the hard-luck loss with both runs being recorded as unearned as he allowed only one hit and one walk with four strikeouts in six innings of work.

The Manatees continue the homestand Friday against the Clearwater Threshers (4-3). David Goforth (0-0, 0.00) will make his second start of the season after throwing five scoreless innings in his first start this past Sunday. He will be opposed by southpaw Ethan Stewart (0-0, 6.75 ERA) for Clearwater.
