Look for Nashville and Wisconsin media notes at the links just prior to their game times.

Once we're aware of the new online location for Huntsville's Media Notes this season, we'll let you know.

New this season: Brevard County has media notes; as of now, it's a unique link each day (we'll post when available), we've asked for a consistent posted link like Nashville uses, we'll see...

Cingrani... darn him. Also a Gallo update for those who championed him before and during the draft last season.

Turns out Scooter Gennett's absence yesterday was injury-related. Today, Jeff Hem tweeted:

Sounds mgr. Mike Guerrero told me Scooter Gennett is day-to-day w/ quad issue. He hit and ran during BP. Not starting for 2nd consec. game.

Audio from Nashville — “Dish from Dan (O’Brien),” Part 2

Here is the second installment of a two-part interview with Dan O’Brien of the Brewers baseball operations department. In this segment, O’Brien discusses the state of the Astros (parent club for the Sounds’ current opponent and where O’Brien worked for 15 years back in the day), the impact the Astros’ move to the American League had on the Brewers’ preparation for the NL Central this year, whether or not O’Brien would like to see the National League adopt the designated hitter and how he thinks the Triple-A level has evolved over his 30-year career in baseball.

Final: Brevard County 7 Lakeland 6

After a slow start to the season by the Brevard County offense, they came to life on Wednesday night to carry the Manatees to a 7-6 victory.

Brevard jumped out to an early lead, batting around and picking up five runs in the second inning, highlighted by a Greg Hopkins grand slam. Brandon Macias doubled with one out and Yadiel Rivera was hit by a pitch. After Lance Roenicke struck out, Dionis Hinojosa came through with an RBI single to score Macias and give the 'Tees a 1-0 lead. Chadwin Stang loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch, and Hopkins followed with the bases clearing slam to put Brevard County up 5-0.

Lakeland got a run in their half of the second and then got to starter Drew Gagnon for four more in the fifth to tie the game at 5-5.

The Manatees took the lead back for good in the seventh. Nick Ramirez doubled with two outs and then Cameron Garfield launched his first home run of the season for a 7-5 lead.

Lakeland pulled to within a run in the bottom of the seventh, making the score 7-6, but the Brevard County bullpen, behind Chad Pierce, Kevin Shackelford and Tommy Toledo shut the door to preserve the victory and bring the Manatees back to .500 on the early season at 3-3.

Brevard County Box Score

Greg Hopkins and Cameron Garfield each hit their first home runs of the season. Hopkins had the grand slam in the second and Garfield's was a two-run shot in the seventh. Nick Ramirez went 2-4 with a double for BC. Cody Hawn also had a pair of hits. Brandon Macias added a double and Dionis Hinojosa recorded his first hit of the season. Hawn got caught stealing on what sounded like a missed hit-and-run. Garfield gunned down the one Lakeland runner who tried to steal on him but did commit his second error of the season.

Drew Gagnon started and gave up five runs, all earned, in 4.1 innings. He allowed six hits and walked two while striking out three. Chad Pierce relieved him and did a nice job of stranding the runners he inherited in the fifth. Pierce went two innings and gave up one unearned run on one hit. He struck out five. Kevin Shackelford tossed 1.2 scoreless innings and Tommy Toledo set down Lakeland in order in the ninth to earn the save.

Not Brewers related, but Cubs prospect Jorge Soler apparently lost his mind tonight in Daytona. Benches cleared following a hard slide by Soler to break up a double play, at which point Soler proceeded to grab a bat and go to town on the Clearwater dugout. That's got to be a nice little suspension coming for Soler. Too bad it didn't happen before they played Brevard County.

Jarred Cosart was tough on the Sounds in his 5 innings tonight (1 H, 3 BB, 7 K, 0 R, 6:1 GO:FO). The former 38th round pick of the Phillies is now one of Houston's top prospects (sent in the '11 Hunter Pence trade); pretty cool story.

John Sickels's writeup from his '13 Astros top 20:

4) Jarred Cosart, RHP, Grade B: His talent is obvious but he's frustrating too. Awesome stuff with power sinker, hard curve, but his command comes and goes and he's not as dominant as he should be with his quality arm. Needs 100 innings in Triple-A to work more kinks out.

Final: Huntsville 5 Jacksonville 1

The Huntsville Stars won their home opener tonight behind another stellar outing from Jimmy Nelson 5-1. Following a similar script for the season, the Stars fell behind 1-0 in the 1st. The damage could have been worse as Jacksonville had the bases loaded with no outs and 1 in, but Nelson recorded a strikeout and induced a double play ground ball to get out of that jam. Nelson went 6 innings, allowing 1 unearned run on 3 hits, 2 walks, a hit batter that actually drove in the only Jacksonville run and recorded 4 strikeouts. Brain Garman, Alan Williams, and Santo Manzanillo all pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

Huntsville Box Score

The Stars bats went to work in the 4th. Brock Kjeldgaard and Mike Walker each hit their 1st home runs of the season, both solo shots. The Stars added on with an RBI single from catcher Adam Weisenburger and a run scoring single from Jason Rogers and a double by Kentrail Davis to finish out the scoring.

Huntsville Play By Play

Jacksonville's 1st inning. You can see how close it was to getting away early. Great job by Nelson to bear down.

Jacksonville Top of the 1st

Derek Dietrich singles on a line drive to right fielder Kentrail Davis.

Danny Black reaches on a fielding error by second baseman T. J. Mittelstaedt. Derek Dietrich to 2nd.

Jake Smolinski strikes out swinging.

Zack Cox grounds into a double play, shortstop Nick Shaw to second baseman T. J. Mittelstaedt to first baseman Jason Rogers. Kyle Jensen out at 2nd.

Sounds Held To Two Hits In 3-1 Loss To RedHawks

Nashville Sounds

Dayton Buller (L) & Caleb Gindl celebrate Buller's 8th inning home run (Mike Strasinger / Nashville Sounds)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds were held to two hits by Oklahoma City pitchers in their 3-1 loss to the RedHawks on Wednesday evening at Greer Stadium.

Nashville (3-4), which suffered back-to-back losses for the first time this season, was held to one run or less for the fourth time in their seven contests.

RedHawks starter Jarred Cosart (1-0) stifled the Sounds in his five scoreless frames, allowing only one run and striking out seven batters to earn the victory.

Oklahoma City grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning with an unearned run against Sounds starter Hiram Burgos, snapping the right-hander's scoreless streak at 19 innings.

The RedHawks loaded the bags on a single and a pair of walks before Che-Hsuan Lin scampered home to score the night's first run on a passed ball charged to Nashville catcher Dayton Buller. Burgos escaped further damage in the inning by striking out Chris Wallace and retiring Trevor Crowe on a lineout to strand a pair of runners in scoring position.

Oklahoma City third baseman Jimmy Paredes upped the visitors' lead to 3-0 in the fourth when he lined a two-run homer over the right field wall, his first roundtripper of the year. The blast, off Burgos, also plated Jake Elmore, who had preceded Paredes with a double.

Burgos (0-1) suffered the loss for the Sounds after giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits in his five frames. He walked four batters and struck out five, throwing 52 of his 81 pitches for strikes.

The Sounds squandered an early scoring opportunity, leaving the bases loaded in the second against Cosart. After the RedHawks right-hander gave up a single to Stephen Parker then issued consecutive two-out walks to Dayton Buller and Ozzie Chavez, he recovered to induce an inning-ending groundout from Caleb Gindl to thwart damage.

Gindl's groundout began a stretch of 16 consecutive Nashville batters retired by Oklahoma City pitchers.

Buller ended that string when he led off the bottom of the eighth with his first home run of the year, a solo shot to left that careened off the guitar-shaped scoreboard. The Nashville backstop connected on left-hander Wes Musick's 0-1 offering to make it a 3-1 contest.

Jose Valdez closed out the contest with a hitless ninth for Oklahoma City to notch his second save of the year.

The teams are scheduled to wrap up the four-game series with a 7:05 p.m. finale on Thursday evening. Right-hander Johnny Hellweg (1-0, 0.00) will take the hill for the Sounds to face Oklahoma City southpaw Brett Oberholtzer (0-0, 6.23).
