Augie, there is not a magic "combination" in the bullpen that's going to right the ship there. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.

As an aside on that, how does Jerry freaking Augustine continue to have a job with the organization every year?

Happy Cubs fans. Ugly.
Well, both teams are going to the same place, so it's all kind of besides the point anyway.

I know, I expressed an emotion. Sorry Rluz.

I was doing the same thing. I should have added a :( at the end to make that clear. In fact, I upped it 10x by suggesting the Brewers' 2013 season is already irrelevant because they have no real chance of competing this year.

This sucks.

ok, since we are airing our wishlists, I'd like to add a Manager and a bull pen to my want list... Throw in a new GM while we are at it.

I raise. I'll throw in Jerry Augustine, Mark Conccoaacnncan, and generally the entire pre and post game shows. And the sultry FSN girls.

Fair enough. I agree, it does suck.

You may run like Mays...

Results of the first 8 games aside, I still think getting a non-embarrassing 1B for the next 8 weeks is the lowest hanging fruit right now.

Well we weren't going to sweep the cubs with the lineup we put out there everyday so we have to rely on Cy Seven tomorrow to take the series... That's why he gets paid the big bucks...

He's getting paid around what an average free agent starting pitcher does these days.

Realistically, we could be 1-7 right now. If we don't get a wind change last night, that drive by Castro in the ninth is a grand slam, and the Cubs win 8-7.

God, I am so freaking pissed right now.

It sucks how I spent the entire winter getting excited for Brewers baseball. I was not expecting much this year. What I did not expect was for the Crew to look so weak and hopeless early. I know that it is long season, but I feel like there is not much to look forward to. As big of a homer as I am, I cannot realistically expect the team to do well with such a bad bullpen. A good pen is as important as a good rotation. I am not worried about our rotation. Yo will be Yo, Lohse will hopefully be solid, Willy has shown promise, Estrada and Fiers will be decent. The offense will be fine once Aramis and Hart come back. But the bullpen? Is there anyone in the pen that is trustworthy? Axford cannot find himself again if he keeps getting put in pressure situations. Axford is clearly in some sort of funk. Roenicke is not helping him by continuing to put him in important situations. I would say that Henderson is the best of a bad bunch and even then I say it reluctantly. Today should have not been a loss. Peralta pitched a heck of game and deserved the W. I hope a miracle happens and the bullpem starts being at least average. It sucks to feel sad about Brewers baseball in April.

I don't get the logic in putting Axford in for the 8th.

He's just lost his closer job. He's not getting ANYBODY out.

I know! Let's put a guy with no stuff, and completely lost confidence, in with a lead in the eighth instead!!

If you cut cancer out of somebody's body, you don't stick it back somewhere else, hoping it doesn't spread. Axford should not be pitching ANYWHERE in a MLB game right now. He's not going to magically get better because you've changed his job in the pen. He needs to either go down to Nashville to figure out how to pitch again, or he needs to be off the team.

That's it...this thread has crossed the line...no blaspheming my man Augie!!! Although you can get rid of those annoying weird girls on the commercials.

It looks ugly, but it's still early. Get some bodies back, a reliable arm or two in the pen, and Yo, Lohse, Estrada and Wily all humming...they can rattle off a streak, but at this point they should just put Yuni on the mound...it wouldn't matter.

I wouldn't even mind the girls if they weren't on during every single commercial break and sometimes more than once per break. Yes, we get it. They're good looking and you think parading them on camera makes us want to watch your station more. Guess what, it doesn't. If anything, it's annoying and makes us want to watch your station less.

We could also be realistically be 5-3 right now with a few less infield hits and Axford pitching like he did in the 2nd half instead of the 1st half. That is the problem with judging a team after 8 games, you have a useless sample size.

This is twice now that RRR has kept Ax in after he started to have a little momentum going only to have it get crushed like a grape. I know at some point you have to challenge him to see if he can handle it, but this is not the time. I don't get on managers too much but I don't like what he did at all with AX.

Seriously?

A few less infield hits?

IF Axford pitched like he did in the 2nd half?

Please... Seems like you are arguing just for the sake of argument.

The Brewers win a second game against Colorado if the Rockies do not have an insanely lucky inning (I only remember the one inning, but I'm pretty sure it happened the entire game).

No kidding. He was filthy against Castro. He should've been left in.

He didn't throw a single strike to Castro who swung at 7 balls in a row? Rizzo is not that type of hitter.

There is no excuse for putting Axford in there and definitely no excuse for leaving him in for another inning when the game was on the line. This is one loss that is largely on the manager even if the final result wasn't set in stone if they made better moves.

Did you watch the game or were you watching on gamecast or something? Because he was filthy against Castro. Not sure how you can come to the conclusion you did if you were actually watching the game.

This is what frustrated me the most about Tuesday's game (despite all the candidates for frustration source).

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.
