poor AY wasn't really that bad

DHonks
When we play the Cubs, I always remember the big hoopla surrounding Anthony Young's pursuit of the MLB record for consecutive losses without a win. ESPN seemed to lead the news off each day with tales of his losses (27 in a row). So I assumed he was really bad for the Cubs, Mets, and Astros. Yet his career ERA was 3.89, 100 ERA+, and a respectably 1.387 WHIP. He pitched a decade too early, as modern teams would have focused more on his stats than his wins and losses. Remarkably he had a stretch of 27 starts without a win in which he had 13 quality starts and his team went 4-23. Wow.
