Vikings - History Channel

"Vikings" is my Sunday night replacement for "The Walking Dead". I would describe it as "the Sopranos" in a centruries old nordic setting with plenty of "Braveheart" style combat scenes.

It has been tough to find a character that I like, as they spend much of their time trying to kill each other. I have enjoyed the way that they have developed the relationship between the captured monk and the Viking family that hold him prisoner. The exploration of nordic myths and the way that it influences the actions of the characters has also been interersting.

Great write up, that's how I see it as well and that is why it has me interested. I like what they are doing with the Monk and the family, explaining each other's beliefs and practices. Good stuff.

I've been watching it since the first episode, I was pretty excited for it as I used to be huge History Channel nerd... now that the channel is more "reality" based I tend to watch H2 more often instead. Many of my friends were upset because apparently Ax-Men was bumped for 3-4 weeks by Vikings? Regardless, I like the show though I'm admittedly pretty easy to entertain, I'll watch most anything at least once and give it a shot.

I will agree that the main story line has been predictable thus far since the conflict was pretty much the focus of the first episode, but there have been twists in the side plots every week so it's not like we're sitting there being able to predict everything that is going to happen.

The character I most struggle with is Rollo, I want to like to the guy becauase in the end it appears he's honorable, but he's done things in just about every episode that make me cringe.
