RIP. Movie fans everywhere will morn the lose. A friend of mine used to work at the Music Box theater about 20 years ago and got to talk to him on occasion. Then got his first movie "Scrooge and Marley" reviewed by him last year. Which coincidentally premiered at Music Box. So kind of full circle for him. He as nothing but good things to say about Ebert. The same could not be said of Siskel.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

So on this day of reflection I say again, thank you for going on this journey with me. I'll see you at the movies.

Dang. Something's in my eye now. :ohwell R.I.P. Mr. Ebert.

I'm glad I had the chance to attend a book signing of his at the University Bookstore in Madison a few years back. I knew very little about him prior to that signing, and was blown away. He was so engaging, down to earth, and just plain approachable. He answered questions & had a great discussion with the audience for a long time before the actual signing began. From that day on, I've admired him. Sorry to see him go.

Roger Ebert and Pauline Kael taught me to think critically and how to write about movies. Roger and Gene Siskel taught me how to disagree but not be disagreeable. Roger and Gene introduced me to Kurosawa.

Here's to you, Roger. You never knew me, but you had a profound impact on me.

Roger Ebert was an awesome human being, whose knowledge and effort we all should aspire to live up to. I read his blog post the day before, felt a twinge of sadness but not anything of what really was to come. His impact transcends film, and will never be forgotten.

Apparently Ronnie Woo Woo showed up at the funeral in full Cub regalia.
